Now do the portfolio from Nov 11, 2021. It would be interesting to highlight that you are still investing in the market even though the portfolio has not returned from its previous highs, but you have likely received dividends and capital gains. Sharing what those returns achieved and highlighting that you are reinvesting those returns into shares that are priced lower today following your long-term investment strategy. Also keeping your money in Cash and earning all interest can be a tax problem as opposed to having qualified dividends and capital gains income.

Amon, I enjoyed the video, but what I ask is what is your two year annualized rate of return for your stock portfolio, as your one year rates begin at the October bottom and are not indicative of future return expectations? If I had to guess, your two year rates of return are probably negative like the s&p500?

Honest question, what is the incentive to put your money in the vanguard money market compared to a digital bank with a similar ROI and no fee? Like Sofi or discover around 5% and are there tax advantages to either?
@themachine300
@themachine300 9 ай бұрын
I use the same vanguard money market account he uses. This account is just the settlement account for your brokerage account with vanguard. The money that is there can easily be used to buy whatever brokerage products you want, index funds, stocks, ETFs or treasuries etc. or you can just leave it there and let it earn interest. the settlement fund is technically not FDIC insured so there is theoretically some chance of losing some value but would be very very unlikely given how conservatively managed. You will probably get a slightly higher yield in the vanguard account than a HYSA but not very much higher

Where are bonds in your strategy? I'm 52, and I'd always learned that even long-term, it's best to have some mix of stocks and bonds because they move opposite directions. But it feels like recent decades have been a historical anomaly, with bonds tanking when stocks tanked, and bonds just underperforming in general. Yet it's never a good idea to learn permanent lessons from a possible blip. Has something fundamental changed with bonds, or have we just all "come of age" financially during a bad period for them?

High interest is temporary but Covered call ETF is a better investment vehicle. VMRXX is paying 5.3% interest while XYLD is paying 11% dividend a year in monthly installments. I am collecting $2400 a month from XYLD dividend.

Now, im working on buying rental properties. I purchased one last year…i paid cash for it. But everyone seems to have a big opinion on weather you should borrow money from the bank for rental properties or pay cash, if you have that option. Currently, 7.5 interest rates for investment property loan. My investments earned 19% following your vanguard recommendations🙌🫶

Hi What are your thoughts on Fidelity?
@Laura-kb5sr
@Laura-kb5sr 6 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm interested in Fidelity instead, for my kids. Vanguard has a $3000 minimum to open, and many of its ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) funds are only available in ETFs. I think they're shooting themselves in the foot if they want to attract the next generation right off the bat. Fidelity has plenty of index and low-expense mutual funds, including ESGs, without this minimum.
