One thing that wasn't explicitly said: choosing the right spouse. Two people working together makes this so much easier. They have worked together to make this happen. It would have been exponentially harder to do this with only one person carrying the weight. Plus one person carrying the weight can lead to resentment. Alone you can go fast but together you can go farther.

For married folks a partner on same page gives you steam ie encouragement to keep at it, ideas, and double income, otherwise if married and not same page, you may build as your spouse digs a hole or doesn't encourage. A single person can do achieve this too, self motivation.

@@lreally basically what @ay Wa said. I lived way below my means even when I was making only 30k per year. One way I accomplished this was moving back in with my parents. I know not every body has this option but I had it and I used it. I saved alot just from this perspective alone while still contributing to house hold expenses like rent and food. Another thing I did was increase my income. I was fortunate enough that my degree gave me a return on my investment even tho I did take quite a bit in loans to attain it. Every spare bit of change I got like tax returns I threw at my debt. I was obsessive about paying it off because I really hated the monthly drain on my paychecks. Now that I'm debt free I can't describe how liberating it is to know that all the money I used to pay someone else can now be used to build my own wealth. I wish you all the best in crushing your debt.

It was this year that my wife and I have gotten serious about investing. Partly because of you guys. I also watch videos from Chris Hogan, Graham Stephan, and more. I have learned so much. My wife and I have already knocked out $15,000 in debt this year. By May of next year we should have $25,000 of our debt cleared out. On top of that we have saved up around $1,200 and, put about $2,500 in an investment account for ourselves and a few hundred dollars for our 2 year old. We at least want to give our daughter a great head start in life.

@fitnessgoals1010
@fitnessgoals1010 3 жыл бұрын
I wondered that as well. I went back and viewed some of their older videos about how they lived during their 20s. There is a video that discusses the real estate that they purchased in North California. Those numbers alone placed them near the half million mark. But I believe the real estate came in their 30s because their children were there. In their 20s they sought to always live cheaply, so they discussed ways to reduce or eliminate the cost of housing, such taking jobs that pay for housing, or having a roommate. In their 30s they got rid of luxury vehicles like a BMW and down graded to a minivan. They have definitely eaten some humble pie to get where they are today. Hope this helps.

$2,500,000 and 70% of government salaries from eight years of work means you have a very high rate of return. Like hedge fund level performance. You tease it at the end with leveraged real estate. Looking forward to learning more of your story and why you stopped.

I love this channel. One think im curious about is the year by year trajectory (increase) of both savings rates (as you said you didn’t start out saving 70%) and the annual growth of net worth. We have your budget model and have similar financials but getting to 2+ mil in 8 yrs seems almost insurmountable. Would you guys be into doing a specific yr by year net worth/ total savings for your 8 yr timeline and how it got you to where you are now? I’d be super hyped to see that! 🙌 Thank you
