I had to tell my Dad about my partner when we moved in together 27 years ago. He immediately asked me to bring him to my parents home that weekend for dinner. My parents and 5 siblings all accepted him with open arms. My parents are now gone, my mom just a few months ago, but my siblings still consider him part of the family. Sometimes they call him instead of me. I remember the night I got the call from my mom that my dad had died. I sat in shock on the edge of the bed when I hung up. My partner asked me what was wrong and when I told him he burst into tears and threw his arms around me. My dad was a real macho man too. War veteran, avid football fan etc.. but I was never as proud of him or felt more loved than when I told him I was gay and he said, "You're my son and I love you. I just want you to be happy". That was not the reaction I expected. Don't stress. Most parents love their kids more than they care about what people will think. You're a good guy so I'm sure they will love you.
