I can relate to moving to an area isolated. We moved from California to Washington state which turned out to be a live changing mistake after retiring. We were able to move back to California with all my woodworking past skills that helped give us what we have today. Good luck on your move and hope to see you back on line. Just remember that the light at the end of the tunnel, may be a short or long distance, but you will get there.👍👍👍

Wishing you and Kyle all the best on your move and getting yourselves established. It is definitely a lot of work but sitting back and reflecting on where you have been and where you are headed should make you very proud and happy. I look forward to more of your videos and adventures. I enjoyed the kayak ride. Originally being from Northern California, it looked like you were in the Monterey coastal area, so peaceful and serene. May happiness follow you wherever you might be 😊

Moving is one of the worst things a person can do, fully agree that putting heavy tools on wheels is a good idea, some tools however eg a lathe are best not put on wheels as they need a solid level base. As regards space saving ideas have you ever considered a flip top stand? There are lots of plans available and easy to build out of 15mm ply.

We wise you all the best the world has to offer in your new location. Moving is always stressful and chaotic I hope your new location is everything you both hoped it will be. Just remember to stop and give yourselves a break occasionally. In the past we had to move a number of times. I remembered the shed you had for a brief time and the upgrade to the garage. You put this together as though we were experiencing it with you. That is another thing I enjoy about you. You invite your viewers to experience what you are doing with you. Be kind to yourselves. I look forward to seeing you again!

Do you plan to someday own a place you could call your own, to have a permanent shop space, really worth investing into? I totally the need to be closer to friends and family, especially when you're very dependent on that social energy. I hope your move goes smooth and the new garage will make a decent shop space when finished.

Should you ever start getting really heavy tools an engine hoist might prove to be a good investment, even the less expensive ones will lift a 1,000kg easiy.

Moving is the worst. I've only moved twice in my 31 years on this planet and my wife and I never intend upon doing it again. I'll put an addition on my house before I move, lol. Amazing how you've done it so many times. It'll be interesting to see how you setup your next workshop space though.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend moving every year 3 years in a row, it's no fun. We would love to settle in and buy a home to be in long term eventually.

hoow'd you manage the two fish tanks
@elenamakes4 ай бұрын
It's a bit challenging, but I take out the fish and put them in smaller individual containers with holes in the lid for transportation, then I take out most of the water and cover the top of the tanks in plastic so the plants don't dry out and the tanks are light enough we can carry them. Then we transported them in our car and try to immediately set them back up when we get to the new place.

Is there away to make your workshop into modules. Say something like a table saw on its own base w/wheels. Ready to move, place the lid….wheel it out. New place, wheel into place, lock wheels, remove lid and ready to use.
@elenamakes4 ай бұрын
It’s already mostly setup in modules with each tool on its own rolling base and my latching system :) definitely helps during moves like these.

I think it’s really dependent on you as a person. As much as Kyle and I wanted to thrive in a more rural area because we love a lot about that life, we are pretty social and we struggled with that lack of social connection in that area. That said, we’re not moving to a big city either! We’re very much small to medium town folk :)
