A lovely final tribute to that workshop. It was a place that helped so many through the lockdowns. The livestreams, the videos, the challenges, the nerf guns and the world record attempts. This old place had its quirks but it was lovely! I truly hope you can be as happy in the new place as the old workshop. Here's to many more years of making, creating and inspiring.

Matt brought me through the Corona-lockdowns. i always had the urge to do something usefull with all this spare time, so i decided to watch youtube. found matt in march 2020 and binged all videos i could find multiple times. then i orderd some manual woodworking-tools from amazon and i guess he´s the reason i am still in posession of my mental health after this 2 years of madness. thank you matt for beeing my mentor.

The first half of the kzbin.infoUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

Can empathize with your emotions of seeing the workshop empty and saying last goodbyes the place. I lived for three years in the same dorm at Uni. Then within the span of a week, I took my final exams, partied, graduated, passed my first board exam for my professional career, celebrated some more, and moved then moved out of my home. This place was my life. I could also feel that lump rising in my throat as I realized how special this home was to me. It's just a simple college dorm, nothing fancy or special, but it was my home where I created thousands of beautiful memories and thinking to myself when my car was all packed up... this is it, I had over the keys and that chapter of my life is permanently closed... the emotions were strong. This is just a long winded way of saying, you did an honor of wrapping up the old workshop. Cheers to a new chapter mate

Congrats on a job well done. 2 things to note: 1) next time you are worried a car/van will move put a block behind or on front of one of the tires that is on the ground. Which ever way is down hill, or both sides just in case 2) WD-40 is a penetrant not a lubricant. Meaning it will free up rust but the oils in it go away quickly so I recommend you put grease or a heavy oil on that lever. Looking forward to you getting back in action. Good luck with settling in.

Didn't realize how much I've missed Rob 😂. For real though this one hit me in the feels. Nearly everything I learned in my early attempts at wood working I learned in that shop. It’s amazing how small your shop actually was. It looked larger with everything in it, but I guess the camera has a lot to do with that illusion. I’m a fairly new subscriber of maybe about one year. I liked what I saw, but was a little disappointed that you didn’t post many videos. So, I’m glad to hear you might be posting more in your new shop. I was thrilled to see you start posting your van conversion as I like that kind of stuff, well really anything that involves building. I also that if anyone could build a cool van, it would be you. From what little we saw, it looks like your new shop is much larger and, will no doubt be way cool. If I went through what you did during your move, there would have been a point to where I just stood there and cried, then screamed, then felt angry. But, it’s all worth it now. There’s another KZbinr I follow that moved into his shop and invited his subscribers to help him move. That could have been a bad thing, but thankfully only about a dozen people showed up and they moved him in one day. His shop was inly a shipping container, so obviously much smaller with far less items to move. In the end, his drum sander was busted, but otherwise everything turned out good. I bring him up because he also is in the process of building out an off grid van and, he slowed way down in his video posts. Must be something about moving while building out a van? Anyway, I look forward to seeing your new shop, the continued progress of your van build and, when you’re ready, I hope to see a lot of videos from you. I’m only a beginner woodworker and from what little I’ve seen from you, there’s no doubt I can learn a lot of the craft from you. I wish you the best in your new shop and, in what has now become a new life given the changes taking place. The only negative thing I see is that you live in a country where it freak’n rains and is cold all the time!

Love your stuff, can’t wait for more of anything you post! Cheers

I can remember the day Matt posted the video tour moving into that workshop. All the mysteries of the pit and the weird attic spaces. The hours scraping the pitch off the floor. I frankly can't believe it's been that long and so much has happened there. All the builds I've learned from and all the lives streams that helped make working from home in the weirdest timeline that much better. The music discussions, the automated voice chanting out 'moist' 30 times in a row, the inability to do anything productive because of the hilarity but that not mattering at all. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend. Can't wait to see the new shop all set up and running and to see what madness it brings about. And hey, on the plus side, the pit has been traded for a proper toilet, so that's something! Thanks for everything you've given us Matt, here's to the next step - Cheers!
