Native Balinese here. I say, good for people like him who make "western" income to live in Bali. But it does sting a little LOL. The legal minimum wage in the richest regency in Bali is just 3,318,628 IDR or around 209 USD/month, a lot even get paid less than that. But then I felt a little meh when I heard he didn't have any locals in his team? (correct me if I'm wrong, I listened to this while doing other things).

His ecom brands are tiny, I looked them up and highly doubt they bring in that much money. Unsurprisingly, he is also doing mentorship courses. Sounds like a bit of a fake guru but I could be wrong. When people brag about how money money they made at 12,13,14, etc its usually a red flag as it can't be verified.

That's true. Most of "digital nomads" here are just grifters and cheapskates. They don't even pay taxes and don't contribute to the locals in any way. Most of them make less than $5K a month and live like they own the whole island 😂 and do you know how most of them make their money? As you said, coaching 😂. I live in bali with my balinese wife for decades. I know the reality.

As someone interested in entrepreneurship, this felt more like a lifestyle flex than valuable content. Running 3 different e-commerce businesses is impressive, but we barely got any insights into HOW. Also concerning that while benefiting from Bali's low cost of living, there's zero mention of employing or developing local Indonesian talent in your 19-person team. The digital nomad lifestyle is great, but shouldn't we aim to contribute more meaningfully to the communities hosting us? Would love to see CNBC Make It focus more on actionable business insights and sustainable, ethical entrepreneurship rather than just showcasing villas and pools. The real value is in the how, not the what.

Even in background checks, if you have the work experience, none of that matters. Adding here just in case he ever did decide to get a regular job, but he should continue on this path with his friends -- entrepreneurship is the way to go! It would be more thoughtful to exercise greater care in selecting talents for your KZbin videos. Promoting the idea of moving to Bali may not fully consider the challenges faced by locals. Many Indonesians are already struggling to find employment, and some behaviors from foreign visitors in Bali, such as establishing businesses without proper oversight, disregarding traffic rules when renting motorbikes, or engaging in public disturbances, have raised concerns. We hope future content can reflect a more balanced perspective on this matter.

Her mom migrated to the US to provide her kids with access to quality education and a better life. However, he chose not to fully leverage the opportunities that education offered, eventually leaving the US to settle in a developing country. It's an intriguing decision, but I respect the hustle.

He went to UC Irvine which is one of the best school in US. That's probably where he built his technology and computer skills. Businesses are very global now, he probably sells his products in US and making money from US citizens which means he is leveraging his US connections. The richest man in Hong Kong Lee Kai Shing sent his son to Stanford and that's where he learned technology to build one of the largest technology company in Asia. Knowledge acquired in US can definitely be applied worldwide.

1.2juta per bulan utk sewa scooter. 24 juta per bulan utk uang kos. smh.... You can get a brand new scooter for 20juta rupiah in Bandung. You can get a beautiful home in Bandung for 500 juta rupiah. Many Indonesian people doesn't care about his net worth. What makes us dislike was the fact that he (based on the videos) doesn't pay taxes for our local government. He can create thousand of startup by his own hands, but remember local people there are paying taxes, but he's just chill and enjoy his $254K net worth a year without thinking too much about taxes.

Please CNBC stop perpetuating this kind of scheme. Indonesia is not a safe haven where you can exploit the loopholes to live your paradise with little to no benefits to its society. If you still decide to publish this type of scheme, put more emphasis on them paying local taxes and helping local economy rather than just “living out the dream.”
