I just don’t get why Joey validated Daisy who admitted she basically is not feeling him as much as he is feeling her, but then not Maria who is admitting how crazy she is about him & how serious she takes this & that’s why it’s hard to see him have real connections with other girls. Like she admitted this is what she signed up for, but it’s a real emotion to have; in the real word you wouldn’t want to see your partner make out with another girl right in front of you, this close to an engagement. I think she needed a little validation in that moment & he just seemed annoyed with her.

I think Joey was too hard in his judgment on Maria - and too soft on the empathy. He knows what it's like to be on the other side & how much higher the risk is of being heartbroken! She clearly explained that it was the upcoming hometowns & family time that made her so uncomfortable. How can she introduce a man to her family as "the man I want to marry" and also rationalize "he might marry one of the other 3 women still on the show". I think Charity dumping him really f***ed with his head and heart. He couldn't get passed Maria showing doubts and wanting to leave. It freaked him out. I get it. Women really need to research what they are getting into if they actually start to have real feelings, cuz it will be hard to deal with. Every winner has been confident in his/her love for the person. If you are confident, open, show no doubt and there is a physical attraction...that person will win.

But it and The Bachelor have to start at some point while the filming is still underway because they both have live finales. And what I'm suggesting is that if one of the early favorites in opening episodes (like the first impression rose recipient) is sent home and then goes home and is spotted out and about in their home town on their own or with friends, or god forbid dating, then that could spoil things when the episodes are aired.

Maria: Has a normal reaction/feeling to an unusual and hard situation. Joey: Completely overreacts to Maria’s telling him the truth. Maria: (leaves, cries, comes back) Apologizes for “overreacting”. I think Joey reacted very immaturely here. He was clearly in his emotional brain state. I am hoping they both learn from this experience. However, I saw the moment Joey gave up on her and, unfortunately, there’s no turning back now. She did nothing wrong and I wish her the best.

Maria really rubbed me the wrong way in this episode, which is a shame since she was one of my frontrunners up until this point. I don't like how she went about her conversation with Joey. What I don't understand is, what exactly did she want out of that conversation? Going into it and based on what she said I saw two options, that she either wanted to leave the show, or she wanted to hurt Joey in retaliation. It's pretty obvious that seeing him kiss another woman hurt her since she feels so strongly for him, but I think she should have sat with her feelings a bit longer before speaking with him about it. I think seeing him do that might have triggered her, she didn't do what she needed to do to sit with that trigger, and her manipulative side came out. It was clear that leaving the show was not her true intention, which is what her words indicated to Joey, so that leaves me with some options. Maybe she thought she'd want to in a moment of passion until she thought it through, or she wanted to hurt Joey. Personally, I'm thinking she wanted to hurt him. Her tone of voice, phrasing, and quick switch-up indicated to me that she was coming from a place of anger instead of calm communication. Her phrasing was also oddly comparative to how parents or a controlling partner will take things away or do something as a form of "punishment" to their partner for a perceived wrong. Her setting the boundary of not kissing him should have come from a genuine place of being uncomfortable, instead of as a punishment to Joey. If that boundary came from a genuine place (and if she knows how to maintain healthy and firm boundaries), she wouldn't have violated her own boundary almost instantly. That quick switch-up does remind me of techniques some abusers use. They leave their partner or victim in a state of constant confusion so it will be easier to manipulate, control, and/or gaslight them. Seeing this behavior from Maria is concerning. I'm not saying she is necessarily a manipulator, but I think it's fair to say it's at least a red flag. It's totally okay if you disagree, I'm seeing a pretty wide spectrum of opinions of her in the comments. But I hope it's at least universally acceptable to say she could have handled that a bit better. Her feelings were absolutely justified, valid, and even make perfect sense, but I think the heat of the moment clouded her head and made her say some things she didn't necessarily mean.
