Yeah it's weird to me that he claimed it to be a game where everything went right when clearly the marketing totally and utterly failed. Ubisoft may have had a part in that but it's hard to really call that game a best case scenario if the marketing is anything to go by.

I played Hyperscape for 2 hours during launch week. It was bad. It has high mobility and a high time-to-kill, resulting in a high skill floor that gives a poor first impression and a mediocre experience for casual players. I'm surprised the game went on as long as it did. Additionally, I'm surprised Kyle didn't pull on the very obvious thread that, on one hand, Ubisoft is telling us how good NFTs are because they can accrue value and make us money, but on the other hand, they will clearly become worthless when the company announces the game where they have the most value is closing. Diablo 3s real money auction house was awful for the ecosystem. Skin trading in CS:GO was really bad for the community at the height of its popularity. We don't need NFTs to show us that giving players the ability to earn money in games has historically made the games in question worse, not better.
@goranisacson25023 жыл бұрын
I'm coming into this post late because I'm binging Kyle Bosman content, but this comment made me curious- why were these in-game marketplaces bad things? I played neither Diablo 3 or CS:GO because they, and most online games, aren't my thing, but because I cannot escaoe being inundated with NFT-discussions I often see the argument brought up "we don't need NFT'S to trade, we could already do that in-game if the devs wanted there to be that functionality" and I mostly just nod and shrug-agree, but you're saying these markets were a bad idea from the start, even when they didn't involce consuming enough Lifestream-juice from the planet to summon the Weapons? Did they ruin the balance of the game or did they just lead to rewarding bad behavior, or did they lead to something else that was bad or what?
@Hazz3r3 жыл бұрын
@@goranisacson2502 The CS:GO is more personal, but I think it made players unfamiliar with the game view it as little more than the game where you open cases and maybe get a cool looking gun. CS:GO is a timeless game of skill, intelligence and teamwork. You can find videos and such about the Diablo 3 Auction House all over, but essentially it ruined the balance of the game. Diablo is about playing the game and looting new items. The Auction House made it so that the game became far more about grinding for gold and then spending most of your time on the auction house to try and get the item you wanted. It became auction simulator, not Diablo.

I feel like it's so evident that larger corporations are somewhat embarrassed to talk about their NFT plans (as they should be) due to the mass of people pointing out their flaws, because the Ubi NFT stuff was supposed to be this big announcement for them, and it was very recent, and I completely forgot about it already until you brought it up in this video. It's like they want to announce this stuff like it's a marquee, tentpole item, and then sweep it under the rug as fast as possible so they can just get heads down on developing it to prove to people that they're right about the future of digital ownership. Everyone is so tired of hearing about it already but NFTs aren't solving any problems, they're creating their own problems so they can pretend to solve them.

Hyper Scape had terrible console controls and didn’t learn the lesson CoD Advanced Warfare did years ago: Tracking and shooting people vertically sucks, and they built their whole game on that.
