When I grew up, my mom didn't raise us as Christians. I accepted Christ in 2020 during the situation, when I learned you can attend church online. I really like Hillsong, I watched it tonight. In Australia it's Sunday morning right now. This video showed up in my feed. Now I celebrate the holidays with a Christian theme. Happy Resurrection Sunday!!

Thank you Laura you tell it so well and this is a beautiful story. Last Easter I stayed at the Bruderhof community and the teenagers sang a song about Jesus taken to the cross. I believe a Swiss composer had written the lyrics and music. I was reduced to tears. The young people really put their energy into the song and re-enacted it.

Am so looking forward to visiting Spring Valley in June. Have been following and very interested in the Bruderhof's way of Christ Centered Community for a long time.

When I was young, my parents taught me about saints and prophets. They shared Islamic versions of stories like the story of Job and the story of Moses. They emphasized that people with good hearts had faces marked by nur, meaning light. However, as I grew up, I became more distant from my religion. I witnessed hypocrisy and oppression in the teachings of the clergy, and couldn't find a single person with nur in their face. Last year, I had a reckoning and reread the Quran, which led me to study the Gospels and Tanakh. In Islamic tradition, they are all divine books and Christ is the Word of God. I discovered the difference between religiosity that comes from scripture and that which comes from institutions. I now consider myself a Christian, in the sense that I believe in Jesus as the Messiah. However, orthodoxy is not important to me. It is of no moral significance whether we believe Christ to be a part of the Trinity or just a Messiah. What is important and indeed defines Christianity for me is living according to the teachings of the Messiah. That is how he saves. Regarding the concept of nur, I see it in your face. Excellent choice of opera. So many great moments in Tannhäuser. When I opened this video I was wondering if you were going to mention Wagner. Parsifal is also great. I listen to the Good Friday Music every Good Friday. Happy Easter.

So beautifully told! I love Tannhäuser, too. My favourite Easter opera is Parsifal which I highly recommend. What a great teacher you must have had to do such a project with young people!!

Lovely video Laura! Greetings from Bayreuth, the city in Germany where Wagners "Festspielhaus" (opera house) is located. As a kid I sometimes went to the kids opera there and got to listen to operas like Tristan und Isolde, Tannhäuser, and Parsifal. You brought back some memories. Also your "Minnesänger" pronunciation was amazing! Happy belated easter!
