Hi, Laura, thank you and Ankela for your peaceful thoughts (above your head upon the cupboard was a sign, saying PEACE, too😁). I was knitting along with you… socks. Coming from a big, not very peaceful family, I can relate to everything, even to the noises of little children… but mostly to the joy they are bringing. I think you both are very lucky to be born into a community of this kind, with faith but without pressure or the threatening to be thrown out, if you’re not believing everything the same way right away. It’s quite hard to find a community or group, if you’re raised without that. I’m living in an area, where ALL kinds of believers are around, not only Christians, but Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus… and a lot of no believers, too. Did other religions ever cross your way, did you think about them? I try my best to not be judgmental and stay just listening, but find it hard sometimes, although I’m almost 69… Angela’s best advice for me was: not answering right away…still struggling with that. Hope to see you both and the lovely dog again, love, Monika❣

Hi Laura, Anklea reminds me of my Swiss German Grand mother from Switzerland. My Grand mom 's name was Anna Frischknecht and she was born in 1894 in Baltimore Maryland. Great interview!

I love the Bruderhof community. I was welcomed at beechgrove community in kent twice. My hosts were the loveliest Ruthie and Willym. I have ongoing zoom meeting with jesse and lenore. These meetings with the group are special to me. You talk about children who at the Bruderhof are happy well adjusted children. One little girl of an Italian family made me laugh so much. She knocked on my door with a pack of cards insisting I play with her. I asked her how old is she. She refused to tell me hahaha she said age doesn't matter. I put her at about 5 I was 65. She clearly let me win the games. It felt she was the adult I was the child hahaha.

I have enjoyed watching you knit. I think it’s fun to knit and not look at what you’re doing. People will sometimes comment that I’m not looking at my work. I like knitting, crocheting, and sewing. 💙

The woman spoke about getting angry, mentioned divorce! What conflicts can you have as a couple in community? Is it some needs she felt weren’t being met? “His Needs, Her Needs” is a real good book for your library! There’s others but understanding facts about the other person can make a huge difference!

Nice to see your bubbly personality. Which could I suggest you guys get some He-shou-wu. Also called Fo-Ti growing. It takes about 4 years to get the active constituents in it that are said to be a tonic to liver and kidneys, but most notably, it restores original hair color. Richters herbs sells plugs, and such. Order a tray, something like 90 plugs. Which theyll naturally root where they touch the ground, then when they climb limbs, they actually flower producing seeds. Which if nothing else, they could become a future cash crop.

You lived in LUTON?!?!?!?1 there is a famous video about a guy prancking people about flying to Luton that is hilarious, that´s everything I knoe about that place. Your Ankela seems so nice and sweet. shouch smart words, very respectful and applicable to so many different religions beyond the community you live in.

I'm curious over both of your thots on the head covering... is it just something practiced among the elderly and not the younger generation or does it vary in different communities within the bruderhauf? Ankela has such rich and beautiful wisdom, I really enjoyed being in on this conversation!
@corid189711 ай бұрын
I think Laura said she made a personal decision to stop wearing the head covering, so maybe it's a personal choice. She used to wear one, now she doesn't... Head coverings are not uncommon in Christian, Jewish or Muslim communities.

Don’t think I will be joining anytime soon as an Atheist a Vegan and someone who believes you can love anyone you like.While the ideal of community,friendship and peace should be appreciated in todays modern world gone mad I am not really in favour of disengaging from the realities of life on earth as it is.I suppose on the flip side you could argue that the Bruderhof couldn’t exist within the framework of the modern same goes for all religions that choose separatism. At the end of the day perhaps the Bruderhof is no more constrained than my life as all religions and countries force restrictions and beliefs on the individual. I haven’t yet seen or heard of true freedom for humans in the whole time of our existence on the earth. That’s my thoughts and everyone have a good day on the Bruderhof or wherever you may live.😊

Hi @@LaurafromtheBruderhof I am from Germany and I love your chats with Ankela (although I consider myself an atheist, haha). Funny side note: "Ankela" reminds me of "Enkala", a dialect expression for "Enkel" ("grandchild"/"grandchildren") 😊
