More like a Green Lantern that wanted to fight for his home, even though he knew it would almost certainly kill him.. Even if it meant almost certain death, Hal deserves to fight for his home planet. He'd rather fight and die in the knowledge that he did everything he could to defend his home than run away and give into his fear. That's why Sinestro didn't stop him. Because what little honor he has left in him respects Hal enough to give him the chance to defend his home, even if it against all hope of winning.
@Xylarxcode6 жыл бұрын
Because that's the point of the ring. That it's supposed to stand against fear. Even if Hal loses, he still did what a Green Lantern is supposed to do. When fear showed it's face, he opposed it, even in the face of almost certain death. The point of the ring is not to be a survivor because it's the smart thing to do. The point is to stand and fight when everything you love is being threatened. Sinestro became so obsessed with defeating Parallax with his own tools that he lost sight of the fact that he was already carrying a weapon capable of defeating him, he just didn't have sufficient willpower to get it done. Running away might be the sensible thing to do, but it wouldn't have been the right thing to do. The power of the ring is in the will to act, no matter what. Running away is not acting. It's the opposite of acting and therefor the opposite of what the Green Lanterns should embody.
@Xylarxcode6 жыл бұрын
Except for the fact that the ring can't help but act as an emotional response because all the Lanterns are based on the emotional spectrum. (Red - Rage, Blue - Hope, Pink - Love, Green - Will, Yellow- Fear, Orange - Greed and Indigo - Compassion). That's the lore this movie is based and thuse, those are the rules it has to follow. Green Lantern can't cut and run when it's the smart thing to do because his whole superpower is based on him acting through will whenever evil shows it's face. No one ever said the Green Lanterns (or more specifically, the Guardians who created them) were smart about their philosophy. The glaring holes in their logic have been the cause of many GL stories, including this movie. But again, that's because those are the rules they chose to set up in the comics and this movie and so, that's the way things are supposed to be until they start changing some fundamentals.

While I wouldn't say that it was THAT subtle, I really like how it gave a message about "overcoming your fear" instead of forcing ourselves to believe that we can be fearless, and being unable to admit to ourselves and to others that we ARE and CAN BE afraid, in which said message was given in a way that made sense in the plot and was put on subtly enough to not be shoved down our throats, atleast in my opinion. I think DC made some mistakes initially. First one was making a Superman movie with his entire origin. I think that was dumb. Superman, along with Batman and Spidey are from a group of heroes that actually never need a origin story. Simply because they are too mainstream. The origin story in man of steel consumed too much time. I think it would've been better if they introduced Luthor in that one. Showing a young Clark Kent arriving in Metropolis. General Zod could've come on in a later movie. Maybe Man of Steel 2. Another mistake was casting an old Batman. Instead they should've done a Batman Year 1 style movie, which ofcourse should've been a 7-8 year prequel to Man of Steel. In the movie they should've showed off Batman's prowess and detective abilities. Joker should be the bad guy. Making him take on Solomon Grundy like villain at one point of the movie. This would lay down the foundation of Batman being a serious threat in the future JL movies. This movie should then be followed by the obvious "World's Finest" movie. Instead of BvS. I think Luthor is the perfect villain for this. There should be an important part for Wonder Woman at some point. Basically similar to BvS except no fight between heroes and no Doomsday. Doomsday is a beast of a supervillain and shouldn't be misused like this. He could feature in his own Superman film. After that I wouldn't change Wonder Woman much. It was a great movie. Except I would add some references to Atlantis. Then comes Green Lantern. Green Lantern is a great addition. Showing Hal gives them an oppurtunity to explore the wider universe. Same what Guardians of the galaxy did for Marvel. They could also lay down the foundation for Darkseid in that. After that comes Justice League. I wouldn't add Aquaman or Cyborg to that. Instead we can have Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, GL, Flash. And Martian Manhunter. They can show Manhunter arriving on earth for help from Braniac or something. With Braniac being the main baddie. I mean who gives a shit about fucking SteppenWolf? After the foundations of the universe are laid. The phase 2 should go like this. Suicide Squad (with a significant part for Batman) Flash and Cyborg Superman 2 (General Zod is the villian and an important part played by MM) Aquaman Shazam vs Black Adam! Justice League 2 (bad guys are injustice League) Batman 2 (Death of Robin) Wonder Woman 2 Green Lantern 2 (with Shazam) Justice League: War part 1 Green Arrow Zatanna Justice League: War Part 2 Young Justice or Teen Titans Death Stroke Aquaman 2 Batman v Superman (Joker kills Lois) Flashpoint

My stepdad was diagnosed with dementia and alzheimer's when this got released I was do hyped for the movie because Hal Jordan reminds me so much of myself saw the extended edition at a special screening in IMAX 3D I for one fucking afore and love this movie and tbh it's easily my fave DC movie followed by Batman Forever and BvS this is also my fave scene of the movie this film helped me through a lot of dark times in my life and Reynolds played Hal-Jordan to perfection shame this movie never got a sequel or even a trilogy so much potential hopefully Reynolds revises his role #RestoreTheSnyderVerse🖖🖖🥊🥊

You know this is hard to say but they were actually some good parts to that movie. Gotta give props to the actor who played Sinestro and you've got to give props to Ryan Reynolds. It's not the actors fault that the movie sucked it's the writers fault. All in all though, that was a part of our childhood come alive. Mad respect

Mark Strong was good as the villain in “John Carter” and as the loyal sidekick in Kingsman. Very good actor. I didn’t think the movie was bad, but it doesn’t help the RR shits on it every chance he gets.😥 I would argue RIPD is a much worse RR vehicle, but it just gets ignored. I hope they do something decent with GL. One of my favorites growing up.

Maybe this has been said already but one of the few things I enjoy about this movie is instead of Weaponers of Qward creating the yellow ring, it's the Guardians.

“Green Lantern” is one of my favorite superhero characters in comics besides Spider-man, Wolverine, Flash, Superman, and more. I would love to see another solo green lantern movie someday but actor Nathan Fillion played the “Guy Gardner” version of green lantern in the upcoming film/movie “Superman Legacy”. There’s not many things I’m into I’m mostly just a fan of live action superhero films and sports but mostly “basketball only”.

What most of the fans don’t realize is this. Sinestro secretly craved the power of the yellow ring. It was his destiny to become the very first Yellow Lantern. I believe his very name “Sinestro” either means fear or yellow. Sinestro was tired of The Corps, they’re rules, regulations & guidelines. He was the most powerful Green Lantern, save for the moment Hal beat Parallax. Even so, Sinestro felt he reached the pinnacle of his power as a Green Lantern. His soul craved for more, the yellow power of fear. It was natural to him as breathing. What Sinestro failed to understand was he could’ve become a stronger G.L. Perhaps he already knew, witnessing Hal defeat Parallax. Even so, he was eager to attain the power of fear. I luv this movie, but what would’ve made it even more epic, was if it showed a bond between Hal Jordan & Sinestro became established throughout the movie. Only for it to end with them as destined enemies. I feel The Guardians & The Corp of OA are wrong for refusing to help Hal & Earth in his time of need. The G.L. Corp is supposed to show unity, but they left Hal to defend by himself. Despite this obvious sacrifice. Hal Jordan overcame all doubt and all odds. That was a great signifier to the will of one who found the strength to overcome fear to become the greatest version of himself. This movie doesn’t need a re-boot, just needs someone courageous enough to make the sequel. With Sinestro set up as the main villain for the sequel, it’s sure to be a hit. Ryan Reynolds is great.
