@mikka1963 Thanks. I gathered from listening to John interviews that he was simply tired and didn't really know what to write about at that particular moment and did this. Perhaps, "I'm so tired" was the same. John often said that he felt quite lazy at times.

@MrBendorandoran Believe it or not, it's just a cheap Yamaha F-340. With fresh strings it sounds decent enough. The reason I love it is that it has a small neck and excellent action and is a pleasure for me to play on. I've tried some expensive fancy guitars and yeah they sound much better than mine but most don't come close to the smoothness and playability of the neck on my Yamaha. One day however I will buy an old well-worn Martin. Mostly though it ain't the guitar it's the player, eh?

@seclusive Exactly! When I was checking out guitars, there were a few really bright ones, ( I guess you would say with much better tone), but for some reason I've always preferred more muted or compressed sounding guitars ( I guess people might say 'bad overall tone"). The only drawback is it is not a very good loud sounding live guitar. But for at home and for studio sutff, it suits me fine. Left handed?? eh? Just do what Paul did and re-string right-handed guitars.....way cool. Cheers.

thanks joe, since i found you videos i'm learning 2 or 3 songs a day now! just one thing, on the second riff the last open e sounds weird - i like to play it on the second fret of the d string. i haven't listened to the record, but my memory tells me that sounds better. also i play a very lame version of blackbird-it would be cool to see the proper way sometime! thanks again sam (uk)

@MrBendorandoran Some Yamahas are priced quite reasonably and play well. Whatever feels easy to play and sounds okay is fine. Take your time until you find what you like. One thing though, try to find a guitar with nice wood on it. Do some research on the net. Some cheap Yamahas have cheap wood like nato on the body but others have mahogany, or even rosewood (i think). Mine, unfortunately, has nato. Good luck with the search.

An easier way to tune for if you can't do it by ear is to put a capo at the first fret then tune with a device

Ohhh! I have never bothered to check it. Of course! Well, Dylan used to think it was, "I get high! I get high! I get high!" not, "I can't hide!" in I Want to Hold Your Hand. We can all be *a little* confused ... :)

@jpm2u Actually I quite like your guitar for these Beatles songs. My guitar has too much sustain and overtones, it doesn't sound right for Beatles songs. Your inexpensive Yamaha has that Gibson-y dry sound and mid-range emphasis that suits the early songs. My guitar sounds all wrong on Help, for example, doesn't have that sort of compressed, percussive sound that John favored. I need to get a more Beatle-y guitar but I can't afford a Gibson and I'm left-handed too, which limits my options.
