it's the first region in the game, someone else had the map up and explained that this region took them 15-20 hours to go through... and a 1/3rd of it, the city, was restricted to the section of the game everyone got. Then he zooms out from the local map to the world map and it looks about skyrim sized (and part of that map looked hazed out in the far north so might be skyrim sized or more). The same guy also mentioned a pretty big underground area in this demo section.

Mortisimal Gaming pretty much lost all credibility with me praising Veilguard so highly. I own it and played it for myself, so I KNoW he has slop taste. Also, his 100% completions never EVER bring about deeper insights in his reviews, which tend to be more shallow and surface level than most, ironically

I remember reading an interview with one of the devs who mentionned how they were aiming for 30 fps (!) at 1080p, and could therefore focus more on spectacular visual effects, and that you don't need more than 30 FPS for a single player first person RPG game. I hope that's changed. I don't appreciate being told how many fps I enjoy my games at, and I'm also getting tired of the lack of proper optimization in recent games. But if they've addressed that, and the combat is actually fun, and the replayability is good, I might get the game later in 2025. Obviously only on sale though.

I've been very critical, and even more so now that I've seen a pronoun(yes, zero tolerance). It also seems yet another example of "Modern" Fantasy world-building, which doesn't exactly impress me. I personally long for a more - for the lack of a better term - 'based' Fantasy world. And not the kind threaded with leftist ideology which gamers have simply been forced to accept over time. But I will say I'm actually growing more and more optimistic. Not by much, but it's there. I'll just have to wait and see.

One thing i would want clarification on, is helmets. On a previous build the mc had a helmet , but mortismal said in the build he played there was no helmet slot. I am really worried about this game. Unfortunately I've lost all trust in access journalists and game devs in general. I want nothing more than for Avowed to be truly special and gripping, but I worry that the writing will be bland, the political messaging will be brazen, and the gameplay will be subpar. Even from a technical perspective, it has been confirmed there will be no performance mode, even on Series X. Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it.

Also, the original KCD simulated things a bit too deeply for me, so getting into it was...well, very hard. The only thing I was ever really good at was shooting bows. I think the game looks a LOT better than the last time it was shown. Independently of what the previewers said, what they showed in the videos looks good, the combat looks decent, the graphics look MUCH improved in terms of art and tone, the writing looks to be the quality we've come to expect from Obsidian. I was super skeptical about this game, especially after The outer worlds.. but now I'm more confident on it. Also, mortismal has a massive KZbin series on PoE lore, he absolutely has a lot of experience with the series. Previews should ALWAYS be taken with suspicion, but I'm optimistic.

I'm surprisingly more receptive of the shift to action combat in Avowed compared to DATV. The pricing is ridiculous though. Its $100 here for the basic edition. Our regional pricing is more expensive than buying it in USD. That said the thing that worries me most is the companions. I hope Obsidian retains the tone and depth of the companion writing in PoE. Imo PoE has the most unique and well written companions. They're not normal people or heroes with simple good or evil alignments. They're essentially mental patients, no offensive meant. Eccentric, cryptic and philosophical. Very complex and disturbed characters. They constantly make players question their belief, resolve and decisions.

The last few reviews and latest gameplay footage have made me quietly hopeful. I'll forgive a fair bit of third person jank because I simply wouldn't be able to play it WITHOUT third person (migraines). The fact that they have at least added that option is already a leg up on Cyberpunk (where they promised 3rd person since their first announcement and never delivered. As long as the exploration and story are great, I'll be happy to play it. I'm not at all interested Kingdom Come, so as long as I can justify the exorbitant price-tag, this one will be a 'day 1' play for me. I'm cautiously hopeful.

Depend on which level of it going to effect the game. "The Veilguard" is a clear example of developers were actively putting it in the game. Starfield and Baldur Gate 3 is an example of MS and Wizard of the Coast forcing Bethesda and Larian to put it in. To be frank, if it is a level of Bethesda / Larian, where I can just ignore it.

I left a comment a couple of videos ago in which I expressed my concerns that Avowed would be Woke, even if we didn't have proof of it yet. Now, it's revealed that the game will have pronouns. Disappointing, but not at all unexpected. I am hyper-sensitive to wokeness, and for this reason, I refuse to play Failguard. I hope that Avowed doesn't go all in on the Message. On a more positive note, the game looks like a decently good time. Actual role-playing, at the minimum. As I'm subscribed to game pass, I will play it once I've finished KCD2.

But most importantly my main problem with it is the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons rules are just really shallow and makes for boring combat. The builds are almost non-existent, the gear was not all that exciting, and as mentioned, every single one of my companions tried to have sexual relationships with my character before the end of act 1. That's ridiculous. I personally did not like Baldur's Gate 3 at all

I love the pillars of eternity. I would love for a vowed to be great, but they never can translate the depth of these great crpg into first and third person games. It just doesn't ever work out that way. It's like we'll never see another morrowind, or another kingdom come Deliverance. Obsidian being bought out by Microsoft was the death knell for them. I played outer wilds, and it's pretty obvious that this company just doesn't have it anymore. I'm guessing they've Fallen victim to mass diversity hiring practices.

I have been excited for this game for so long, the idea of a pillars game in a bethesda esque open world is an awesome idea. the previews looked good. Im tight on cash though and i will say the price is rough, but i will just play it on gamepass and get it later down the line if i really like it on steam.

I'm not, I advise cautious optimism, but we'll see. The pillars universe already leans to the woke side slightly, with its character designs and some lore I also find its universe, very bland and boring compared to say Pathfinder series from owlcat or the Bladur's Gate series from OG Bioware and now Larian. I have played both Pillars 1 and 2, the gameplay in deadfire was enjoyable, but the characters, character design and races leave much to be desired for me. If it does end up being a sleeper hit, that will be great, but I'm more on the less not on optimistic side, outer worlds was incredibly dry and boring, too if we think about the last game Obsidian has made.

Flying out access media, only positive previews 🤔what do we know technical wise? well it got delayed and is in all likelyhood 30fps on console probably closer to 60 on pc. Any woke bs? well there's pronous that have been hidden during previews kinda shady. Is the price fair? no game is worth 70 bucks highly doubt avowed is. the most important part, is the gameplay fun? well we dont know cause its preview.....
