Inquisition only lacked the RPG depth of Origins. It definitely lacked overtly dark elements, but the writing was superb. Blackwall had a dark origin tale, you can let the empress die, you can let Cole be human. There are darker parts, but nothing like the city elf origin. It always felt like they had bigger plans and couldn't do it all with one game. The Winter Palace Ball is probably the coolest mission in the franchise. It's very RPG in that you definitely flesh out the role of Inquisitor, the combat and character building was mostly RPG but definitely lacking some finer details like building an agnostic build such as a tanky mage or high damage warrior, you also had true healer and support builds in Origins. Just did an anti mage build with a mage, combat was most satisfying. Support classes always get the shaft, most people want to play the heavy hitting DPS and modern RPG games have catered to that.

It really goes to show how much of an echo chamber some studios are in that they would actually post some of the stuff they have. They truly thought it would go well and when it didn't, they just labeled the masses as various -ists to invalidate their opinions and denigrate the person. It has become the go to method they use. If you can't argue it, then you just invalidate the person. No need to debate anything or any motive if you think the person is just hateful. Most people are not hateful at all. They just want regular games without constant barrages of social issues in their games. Also, romance options are cringe in games. It is so unrealistic and just weird. I don't understand their obsession with romancing pixels. Let me focus on the story, not lame and awkward love scenes wrote by people who fantasize about it as they design a game.

I laughed at that classic RPG vs. dating simulator point, so much I must leave a long comment here. 😅As a woman who plays both - fantasy RPGs (t-RPG, a-RPG) and visual novel/dating simulator games (even lgbtq+ ones) - and reads romantasy and smutty literature, I probably should be very close to the intended audience. Not to mention, I was so in love with the previous three games for different reasons. However, I am also in my 30s and I understand something that some (fill in any vulgar word with real anger here) in Bioware don't. I need classic RPG lovers and male audiences to enjoy my AAA RPGs because there is no way that romance alone can support triple-A games. That is why small teams with 3 devoted devs and Kickstarter exist. I also have different expectations from triple-A RPGs and indie dating simulators. And Veilguard is failing in every way possible. It is another Ubisoft-level press-to-win game and it could probably be good enough for my 14-year-old (crazy about everything that has a pulse) sister but she can be crazy about being Asterion’s blood bag as well. The point is you can create a good-in-every-aspect "woke" RPG with an excellent dating possibility, BG3 is a good example. You just have to be a decent writer/narrative designer and know that things can be optional. Also, Veilguard is failing at the “interaction” point as well - when I am dating some companion/character in an RPG, I want good interaction and it does not have to be just romantic or “sexual” interaction, it is about the simulation of reality and in reality people are getting to know each other - well, usually. There are so many lines of dialog that work well for both friendship and romance. In Veilguard, most of the time my Rook is just listening to companion banter. I felt like their therapist, not the leader of our team. The writing is inconsistent, lgbtq+ propaganda is crazy - more aggressive than in any good dating simulator VN I played. It can be done well and it can bring depth to characters, but again it requires skills - senior employees with skills that Bioware has largely lost or fired. Not to mention, female audiences can enjoy playing male-intended games and have fun, maybe for different reasons, but that is ok. Not RPG, but currently playing “Ryse: Son of Rome” and I must say I am just enjoying manly vibes everywhere - I love Roman armor aesthetic, general values, leadership skills, and dominance this game brings. Yeah, this game is so “toxic”. 😁 At this point, I am just angry and disappointed and I am waiting for the madness that plagues the gaming industry to end. Excellent video as always, by the way. 🤣

Hopefully Exodus can scratch the itch a bit for you if you like Sci-Fi and even though you will likely play a fixed male protagonist (which might not be for you) Dawnwalker is looking promising as well. Thanks for the comment.

Tash's story could have worked. The first point against was set Inquisition, making the Qunari more tolerant; despite them logically being the leat accepting people. The Qunari don't even let you pick your damn job, they are a caste based Theocracy . To make Tash's story work, especially to sell it to people that don't by default agree. You pain, and get that pain you have to touch and dig into raw nerves. The movie from 1999 that is based on a real incident... "Boy don't cry". Even if you agree with GENDER IDEOLOGY and AGENDA. Tell me that people who beat/r*ped a fellow coworker to death are the heroes? The writters were just too damn soft hearted to actually do what was required to make their mesage work!

Simple solution. Don't buy DEI games. Let the studios deliver one flop after another. Don't give them your money and watch them ruin themselves. BioWare is dead. Dragon Age is dead. Mass Effect 5 will be stillborn. I didn't buy Anthem, I didn't buy Veilguard, I won't buy Mass Effect 5. But what I will buy is EXODUS. The new game from Archtype. A studio made up of old BioWare and Obsidian developers. The trailer was insane. This Trailer had more of BioWares glory days than BioWare is today.

Veilguard broke my heart, cause dragon age origin it one of the my favorite of Bioware beside kotor and Jade Empire but now see Bioware, you can tell the people who made Bioware are either gone or don't got power cause EA brought them, we all saw the write on the wall when we saw that EA brought them and it funny how they abandoned Veilguard and went straight to Mass effect 5, and I bet it going be another Veilguad, it going be super woke and horirble writes

And harpies dare to suggest the quality of writing and characterization with which we're subjected to in Veilguard is.. "acceptable", "a return to form", that we should be.. "grateful" that it exists. "Enough. I will no longer listen to the babbling of ignorant children."

I dont understand how any AAA game company, having to pour in millions and millions of dollars into games, doesnt even think to do basic customer research to understand who their core audience is before beginning a major project. They just go full steam ahead and simply assume that the buying public will resonate with whatever nonsense it is they're putting into their game. Then they become shocked and frustrated when they find out it doesn't work that way and the game turns out to be a failure. i mean even your local supermarket hires customer research firms. It's just mind boggling.

According to all the games journalists or Urinalists as a better description of their usual slops reviewing jobs, all the woke activists working in media, for all of these losers Bioware was celebrated as "A Return to Form for the studio" for making and destroying everything about Dragon Age the Veilguard or best said as Drag Queen the FailGuard.

Jade Empire, Mass Effect 1,2,3, & Dragon Age 1,2, 3. Having 7 excellent to good titles to your name is more than most studios. bioware died once all the original people left, leaving the company in the hands of those hwo had nothing to do with the original vision. Essentially bioware has been a walking zombie for many years now. We all know this, but we held on to hope that somehow the studio would come back to life miraculously, now we know better. It's never coming back. Goodbye Bioware, we'll always remember the good times.

Bioware stuck gold with DAO, but decided to keep changing the Coca-Cola recipe until it was completely alien to fans. Now it's just an expensive political broadcasting platform dressed as a game company. If they are gonna survive 2025 onwards, they need to cull the game directors who are clearly out of touch with reality & customer needs.

The gaming industry is now filled to the brim with talentless careerist corpo drones, who look to make a quick and easy buck with minimal effort. We used to have real programmers with a knack for tech, a vision they wanted to see created and nerdy antics. There is just too much money in the industry. The best game developers are those, who did something else entirely before and happened to slide into it as a side-gig.

It comes full circle, in the end. Dragon Age was as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2, then Baldur's Gate 3 was a spiritual successor to Dragon Age: Origins. The writing in my favourite Bioware games: KotOR, DAO and Jade Empire (yes, despite the reviews, I found the writing to be great) has stuck with me since childhood and have been the bar I hope to reach one day. Anthem, Andromeda and Veilguard (well, SWTOR, DA2, DA:I are lesser offenders) has only cemented that Old Bioware were masters of the craft and deserved every accolade.

😅The meat is being fed via blackrock and vanguard Se3n Klaus Schaub's little academic "futureist"? Considering an ai future he asks; What do We need humans for or at least so many humans for? The answer he gives with how to deal with the problems of so many excess humans is "keep Them happy with drugs and video games" and that's why the world's most powerful finance influences are feeding the number one entertainment industry and are pavlovian conditioning them to spew woke through and through their products The corruption is coming from a much larger source than the big hitters in the gaming industry and this isn't about money With global derivative debt run up by the central banks somewhere past a quadrillion dollars this economy is cooked no matter how its handled anyway This is about re-engineering culture on a global scale so We'll accept owning nothing and acting happy in a new economic model that turns every single thing there is into commodities to be divided amongst Our self appointed masters meaning not just timber minerals and ip but the air the sunlight and You and Me down to Our genes Assuming We make it through degrowth which isn't likely

I think everyone are through with playing as the "almighty girl boss that needs no one". The issue with choosing Ciri as a Witcher, is that it follows the same trend all modern media do... Replace main character with female but "better". Make them fully unrelatable and insufferable. Focus the entire arch around their empowerment and how everyone are fully incapable next to them. Even if Witcher 4 will be a good game and we are all wrong about the "God empress Witcher Ciri", they still end up leaving this impression, and the various responses from the Devs and people around it, shows that they clearly can't read the room. It's just bad faith to give players yet another "Strong female character that needs nobody".

Mass Effect 3 wasn't the "beginning of the end", it also wasn't bad because of the endings, it was all around a MASSIVE nosedive in quality from ME2. Dragon Age 2, released a year before, was one of the worst videogames ever released, the fact only exacerbated by it being a sequel to a genuinely great spiritual successor to BG2, DAO.

I didn't expect veilguard to be good, I expected it to be exactly what it is, a mediocre game. I haven't expected anything good from Bioware since Anthem. Around that time I learned how these company names are merely that, names. People make these games, and when those talented people leave a company, it's over. You shouldn't expect anything but mediocre games from companies like Bioware, Rocksteady, Blizzard etc. Because those companies lost the people who make those great games a long, long time ago.

All our beloved studios are invaded by people who don't want to work, they use the name for the recognition they didn't work to earn. Remember, never believe the hype from anyone for anything The Witcher ,Mass Effect and more. We are still a long way until we're back to how things should be, devs working and caring with management taking the blame not the other way around. And these so called consultant activists should be held accountable for the jobs they have ruined for so many studios.

We saw this coming already when the Doctors sold their studio to EA, it's been a long downward slope ever since. Bioware have been a zombie for years now. As for the gaming industry, it actually increased sale by 2.1% according to Google, globally of course. Ubi Soft, EA, Microsoft Games and Sony America are all trying to sell the narrative that the entire industry is failing but it is just them since they are more interested in virtue signalling then making good games. And F*** all 4 of them, they spent the last 30 years buying up creative studios and turning them worse and worse. The activist bunch who have taken them over is doing us a favor by burning them to the ground so other more competent companies can take over, preferably on a smaller scale. It is a shame about the North American gaming industry since they basically own every single AAA studio there nowadays (there is Saber who made Space Marines 2 they somehow missed but it is the only free AAA studio I can think of).

Politics were always in gaming to say they weren't is not true. I think the issue is how divisive things are and how the games have been lowered in quality. AAA studios are more focused on lowering costs and getting profits that hasn't been working well. They seem to have miss the mark. They all want that big hit. Dragon age is a ok game. Its not bad nor is it good either.
