The Gothic vampire painting and a hair journal page are on the wall in my room! I love them ♡ that Medusa is probably my new favorite piece of yours(though idk if i could ever have a favoritethey'reall insanley beautifu). It's BEAUTIFUL. I'd love for it to join my collection eventually! Your art is so much more special to me after hearing the story behind it and the motives, etc. I just got back from a VERY overwhelming christmas party (lots of little kids...it was very loud) I really needed this longer video to zone out and have some downtime. Your voice is so calming and makes me feel like everything's gonna be ok :)) Thanks Scott BEAUTIFUL piece!! ♡♡♡

OUGH, I absolutely love the expression here and the thought process for medusa. It conveys so much so strongly and its beautiful. - A fun fact about those long underscales on snakes is that they're necessary for movement. So even though breeds of "scaleless" snakes exist, they cannot be truly scaleless as they keep those underside scales for movement.

This is turning out amazing, @Scott Christian Sava! If I had the means to, I'd suggest this for our band's first album- we're launching it sometime next year &, honestly, the emotion captured here really hits our vibes head on... maybe it can still be a thing- with enough talking to my manager & all, I would be honored to feature your artwork for our visual representation.

I cant stress enough how beautiful this is, When I first Saw this, sketch in your instagram, It activated feelings i didn't know could be activated. I, despite my age, Have seen many arts of people like picasso, van gogh, da vinci etc. but this, this is the one that made me feel something. It speaks, It speaks to my heart. And this sketch, despite it's incompleteness, is the most grandest Speaking painting, I have ever seen. Thank you, Thank you so much. Reds References is so amazing! I've tried starting with an idea but end up spending ages looking for a reference to fit what I want. I invariably end up *glueing* 2 references together, which I don't quite have the skill to pull off yet. Instead, I've realised it works better for me to start looking through reference pictures with a vague idea of a prompt. Once a pose jumps out at me I can then build on it and the end results are, in my opinion, much better. I'm so glad to have found a process that works for me

Today, I did my very first watercolor painting that wasn’t just a page in a small sketchbook. The drawing had been sitting on my desk for two days, until today, when I finally felt brave enough to start. I made a mistake at the very beginning-I almost gave up-but I didn’t. I finished it! It’s not perfect, but I learned a lot. Your content is such an inspiration to me. It helped me realize that the artists I admire make mistakes too, and that’s okay-it’s not the end of the world. As an artist myself I know I never get anything I do 100% like I want it but isn’t that the challenge? As a species we are always striving for perfection but never reaching it and I think that is what makes me better as an artist. The fact that I feel compelled to do it again and again and become better at something. When I taught classes I always told my students that no one is great at something the first time you try it. It all comes down to practice and repetition.

Medusa was in 1974 on the vinyl album "Desolation Boulevard", A-side, track 4. I really liked the album art on the later albums. After Brian left, Sweet was more or less dead! Question for anyone: briefly, I'm 46--haven't done any sketching, drawing, nothing in roughly 20 yrs. I have so many ideas...how does one pull themselves from feeling "frozen" in order to begin? I have the supplies, but I have so many ideas, I get frozen trying to decide what to do--any suggestions? (I hear you guys saying, "just start", but if it were simple, I wouldn't be here asking!) thanks in advance
@ssavaart3 күн бұрын
My advice is to do small 1 hour projects. Get used to finishing something. Fill up a sketchbook. Do a themed sketchbook like this. kzbin.infohgMwKIkx6RU Just get used to starting and finishing a painting. Once you've done that enough, start on something larger. But, doing SOMETHING will get you out of the "stuck" phase.

9:30 i’m curious, why do you place a paper towel under your arm? does the ink smudge?
@ssavaart2 күн бұрын
Good question. No. But the oil from my hand will get soaked up by the watercolor paper and make the watercolor do weird things when it comes time to paint.
@whyb0t2 күн бұрын
@ ohhhh, okay, that makes sense. i always struggle with connecting cause and effect in my own art. i guess that just comes down to making more stuff than i do and experimenting, but it’s gotten quite difficult for me to delve into painting because of this :,) i really enjoy your thoughts on your process anyhow, it always inspires me so incredibly. i’m looking forward to seeing you color this piece!
@giselsotopy2 күн бұрын
Thank you for your honesty. Also, you were justifying so much why your drawing wasn’t perfect. Have you seen a Picasso or any other piece of art that looks an absolute mess? I’m not a fan of those, your piece is much better. However attempting to do hyperrealism is somewhat pointless nowadays, when anyone can just snap a photo and edit it. Keep your art artistic, and the more you do the things that make you happy, the more authentic you will look from the outside and people who vibe with it will appreciate it. Great piece of art!
