So I think Slay the Spire was most likely referencing KSBD, especially given the Watcher's visual design. You are right that the idea was likely just part of history though, even if the quote itself seems constructed to sound like a contradiction.

Fun stuff eggman! Hoping to see you hit the ascension 20 mark soon again. If you've got a second for feedback, I'd say 1) the upgrades on eruption and vigilance are really strong early game, especially eruption gaining you energy when coming out of calm. 2) is more of just something to know, I think ascender's bane just doesn't show up in the removal menu because it can't be removed, rather than showing up and then telling you no.

NL I think you're underappreciating blasphemy. It's a great nuclear option if you're otherwise going to die or are a turn away from killing an enemy and would take unnecessary damage. when upgraded it retains, gives you 3 energy and triple damage and more importantly, it's cheap.

NL you missed out on a neato blasphemy/lesson learned synergy. If you upgrade blasphemy it becomes retainable so you just hold onto it until you widow the enemy down enough to finish the enemy with a triple damage lesson learned.

The curse is just an unplayable ethereal, which is probably why you didn't notice it. It's unremovable, which is why you couldn't see it in the shop. Don't know how old the VOD is, so you might have figured it out by now. Loving the StS btw.

Hey, a quick tip for calculating lethals. Try adding together all the damage you can do, and see if the number is bigger than the enemy HP. Substracting each individual damage card from their HP one by one is just unnecessary and slow.

The curse is Ascender's Bane and it exhausts itself after it's drawn. He had it the whole time but just didn't notice, and at 18:25 he didn't see it because he was looking at removal in the shop but the curse can't be removed

Yep! If you go through the old StS series with the 3 OG characters, he fought the heart early after its release. IIRC he stopped going for it when he shot for high ascension victories because getting the keys made it harder to win the run.

Problem with that is, if you have many cards in the deck you might wait 4 or 5 turns before seeing it again. It's better to get something counting up 3 block a turn (so long as you use it when necessary) rather than use it at 5 block and hope you get it again in the near future.
