Not really. Wigan and Birmingham won cups the same year they were actually relegated. Plenty of teams have made the FA Cup/Carabao Final a season after relegation struggles (or even during relegation struggles).

We are all proud of the club, the manager, the owners, the fans. BUT this is just a lesson to remind us that we still have a long way to go, we are on the up no doubt and thats amazing but we still lack quality, depth and goals to compete with the bigger clubs when they are playing well, we need a 25+ goal striker to take the pressure of our other players, Wilson is injury prone and hit and miss, Isak is still finding his feet and the jury is out on his capability

Absolutely unbelievable what we have done this season but at the same time. We've only won two league games since the world cup, decision making by the players has been disappointing and we're drawing far too many games Fulham and Liverpool are catching us up now, Tottenham have already overtook us so I can't see us getting top 4 tbh

I respectfully disagree. The ETH project started from higher up the league with a better squad. Considering where our starting point was (an inch from relegation) I don't think it's fair to say ETH project is better. Looks like good times ahead for both sides though 👍

Great work from the lads, totally outplayed man u for 90 minutes, just let 2 lucky goals through. Onwards and upwards. From where theyve come a year ago this season has been a dream, with practically the same squad of players. Traditional big 6 teams have their 100mill superstars who can turn a game around or snake a goal against the run of play and thats what we saw last night. When Newcastle actually starts spending money, the rest of the league should be very very afraid. Also Newcastle fans were incredible at Wembly, best fans in the country without a doubt. We took over the stadium, Man U fans only had free scarfs their owners put out before the game, Newcastle fans turned wembly black and white.

Karius played well. Nothing he could do about either goal. Nobody will talk about the saves he made forever. Real Madrid showed us in last year's final that they would have game-managed Liverpool perfectly & won easily enough anyway. The Liverpool team of last year was better & more experienced than Karius' Liverpool team & they still lost, so he's just been made the fall-guy for a final they were always going to lose!
