We are half draining the lake again this winter and we’re going to have plenty of interesting stories to share. This week I’ve started the lime treatment which will take place over the next couple of months. It was great to be able to apply lime directly on top of the silt in the shallows while the lake is still half empty. The netting video will be out in January.

Another very informative video. Yours is one of the few channels I watch to the full. I hope many more fishery owners and clubs watch this. 👍

We applied Limestone powder into the areas of an old, clay lined estate lake where the prevailing winds had driven all the fallen leaves. We used a wheelbarrow and a leaf blower on a calm day. Blew a big cloud of powdered Limestone out over the lake which quickly settled onto the water. Many barrow loads later, the water had a milky appearance which had dropped out by the next day. The following year, the water quality was the best we'd seen on that lake and the leaf litter was starting to break down, slowly increasing the depth. Unfortunately, we were prevented from continuing this process as the water was controlled by match anglers who were now struggling to catch, as the natural food was off the scale.

I've spread tonnes of that on are farm ,an always been frightened of getting in local water corse coz of stripping the oxygen, but the amount you have put in is quite high but it makes total sense, I love your place ,an hopefully one day will visit ,keep up the good work

Thank you mate, appreciate that. I wouldn't be comfortable doing this type of work without the advice of a professional I can tell you! We've been doing it regularly for 14 years now and there's been zero negative impact on the fish. We're increasing the dosage this year because the lake is half empty and following a defined program.

Lime is nasty stuff! Always fascinating watching the care and attention you put into the lake! A real passion!

Added 5 tons per acre of ag lime to our lake this year. Unbelievable change in the water quality since then! Previously we had horrendous cyanobacteria blooms and now we have a healthy 24" phytoplankton bloom.
