Great vid, beautifully filmed. Good angling Steve. Interesting they don't notice the steep line up to the bottle. I guess it's similar to float fishing really and that does plenty of carp. If everyone's doin it you'd think they'd wise up but needs must and all that. Tight lines from the banks of a large northern england canal / river system.
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much!!! Yes the fish simply don't worry that much about the lines going straight up, I suppose in many cases people have markers near to baited areas with lines going vertical too. If anything it helps to keep more of the lines out of the way, it was quite noticeable that when people first started using bottles and keeping lines on the surface, the fish would move through swims far easier and overall it seems to be a better way of fishing - at least on Rainbow.
@alexpeters1080 Жыл бұрын
@@stevebriggs4638 yes u right it's gotta be loads better than a long tight line thru swim as we'd often do whilst fishing near snags.

Hello Steve...thanks for the video...can you please explain a bit the "set up" with the plastic bottle? I know is for fishing in snags bit I'm not familiar with it.. Thank you in advance...
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
Yes it keeps the line up on the surface so that if you are fishing over snags and shallow bars it helps keep the line free. The line just goes straight up to the bottle from the lead (The bottle just has a back lead clip attached to the cap) and then to the rod. The fish actually seem to like the line being out of their way too
@TiberiusWorld Жыл бұрын
@stevebriggs4638 thank you...if you fish long distance with a bait boat this set up is still efficient or you need a boat to land the fish? There's a stopper on the line for the bottle or just running freely on the line?
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
@@TiberiusWorld It's really a set up that I've only used at this lake. It would be difficult without a boat as you'd just be pulling fish back to the snags that you're fishing over, normally I would follow the fish out with the boat but in the video I was pulling fish in to a safe area before going in the boat. Yes in the video it shows the pole elastic back stop as I drop the rig set about 1 meter over depth

Any plans for another Cassien trip Steve? Is it only worth going in the summer now due to the daylight hours in winter (no nights etc)?
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
We’ve talked a lot about Cassien and going back but the day fishing does make it difficult, we loved the winter trips but short days and extra gear needed make it a tough one, there are so many good places out there that allow night fishing that they make it more difficult to go back to Cassien
@mikemccaine4229 Жыл бұрын
@@stevebriggs4638 Ah what a shame. I hear the catfish are causing problems and with no Gerrard to do his restocking programs it sounds like a bit of a non starter, sadly. I only went once in a round 2003(?) it was the week before Joan had her real biggie and we fished from the swim near Gerrards.. I only had a low double common, but it was a Cassien carp and I fell in love with the place, but that was just before it all started changing with the night fishing bans etc. It's a shame somebody can't get it back to how it was but that's a huge undertaking especially with Anglo/French relationships etc. Thanks for the response Steve. All the best on your next adventures!!
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
@@mikemccaine4229 Yes it all changed when Gerard retired as he helped a lot with carp fishing there - although he also stocked the catfish which are a real menace now!!! the new head of the federation is not so carp angler friendly although there has been a recent stocking of new carp. I hope one day things can change but I doubt it will ever be how it was. It was 2002 when Joan had her fish.
@mikemccaine4229 Жыл бұрын
@@stevebriggs4638 Ah yes 2002 it was definitely the week after me and my pal went because you mentioned it at The Carp Show at Five Lakes and we looked at each other, me and my fishing pal, with that expression of "one week out" haha. All the best Steve. You had the "Golden Years" on that lake so all is not bad!!
@ilijakavedzic517 Жыл бұрын
Nice one Steve! I was wondering, why there's less fish now? Do they dont restock the lake or what?
@stevebriggs4638 Жыл бұрын
No they have never restocked since they first took the lake over, they always believe that natural spawning would keep the numbers up
@ilijakavedzic517 Жыл бұрын
@@stevebriggs4638 oh ok, that would be a good theory if nobody have fished there. Fish get hurt in that process no matter how much we care about them. But anyway looks like dream location to me. Maybe one day 😁
