Best advice from a 4 year ground driver … go to a FedEx approved trucking school, get your CDL A license add on your doubles/triples endorsement and switch to line haul. Drop and hook, no touch freight. If you get hired with a good line haul contractor, the money is there. You can do local, regional and OTR runs. No more slinging furniture, Chewy boxes, etc etc

I felt the same way. One of the guys when I started said a dolly gets in the way. I felt like he was crazy now I can relate. Yesterday I had a route where I hit 43 stops the first hour then 40 and 22 (fast walked the whole day). Never ever thought I’d get there. Just hang in there it’s get easier as your body adjusts.

It’s funny I’m just starting it’s been 2 weeks. Salary $1000 a week… but my route takes me about 10 hours at least. Ironically my route is literally the road I live on, but unfortunately, the terminal is almost an hour away. Which I didn’t know at first. So I have to drive an hour in the morning to the terminal, just to drive back all the way to where I live to deliver. When I’m finished, then I have to drive all the way back to the terminal and then get in my car and drive all the way back. So about 14 and 15 hours a day. And it’s backbreaking work and I’m in Florida. I’m always dying of heat. I don’t know if I made a good decision or not but I need the money right now.

I do long haul for FedEx freight overnight and I love it. No way I’d work for ground, you earn every penny they pay you there. I’ll take the long haul over those many stops. That’s definitely a workout lol. Good video and keep doing what’s best for you man.

I did line haul for about 9 months when i first started driving for FXF and I like it. I've been doing city driving for about 10-11 months and love it also. I just love driving those big rigs lol both are great i just started city because I'm married with two young kids and i hardly saw them and my wife. I work at fedex ground. Where I live I usually do 80 stops on average, get paid extra after 90 stops, have 2 pickups, mostly residential, and benefits. Daily rate. Love it

I give you credit because I worked for United States Postal Service delivering parcels and I know how you feel and how hard you work. I delivered 140 parcels are there and I jumped in and out of the van about 100 times a day. I could not do that every single day and I resigned. Very strenuous and the pay was not worth it.

Yeah it goes by seniority.. I recently became a driver and left after 30 days.. they pay me 35.38 but honestly not even worth it.. wear and tear of your body, even when you finish early they add more stops to you or help other drivers. Plus you won't have your own route until a fulltimer retires, which the seniority list is long. I know ppl who been waiting 5 years just to become fulltimer. Trust me there a reason why ups pays alot the shit they put us through he'll nah.

Yesterday was my last straw with FedEx. 188 stops (businesses mostly) and 404 packages plus 10 pickups with 1:30 window. Fd up. What people don't realize is FedEx Ground and FedEx Express are completely different companies and have nothing to do with each other. You ground guys had it worst with the no benefits.

This job is tough, especially in the extreme south heat. All this non sense of i get 30 and some one get 40 deliveries per hr is not feasible for most drivers. Not b/c they can't do it, but it all depends on your area and routes. Yes u may be able to get done by 1 pm on some occasions and but the only reason anyone gets done at a reseasonable time is b/c we work like a mad man. This jobs can really be tough most days. No matter how u look at it and think u are a superstar, its going to be about about a 15-17 $ per hr job. U may get a good route where its mostly residential and no traffic, but most likely u will be dealing with traffic and apartment complexes where u are lugging 25-200lb packages up 3 sets of stairs. Then u might be able to get done early then have a pick up that u can't pick up until 4 or 5 pm. So I don't know, it has some good points, but most people probably don't really like it. The girl that helped train me thinks this company cares about her and she works like a slave and I want to tell her, that she is killing herself for pennies and I don't think its worth it.

About to load another video. FedEx is desperate for drivers, and because of that If you do it right you can make it what you want it to be. I’m making about $40 an hour at this point. The money is there, the contractors are just extremely tight-fisted and FedEx doesn’t treat them fairly. It’s a trickle down effect. But it’s possible to break the cycle.

@@Deliverypros yes they are desperate, so far my first week has been less than desirable and I decided to tell them I was moving and he almost collapsed. They are in a tough spot and having a hard time getting quality help, but I haven't been paid yet or even told when I would get paid, but I told them I would help them out and try to work for 3-4 weeks until they get some more people. We will see how it goes, no way im hanging around for less than 20 per hr and then only until my own business is back up and running.

reason why i havent jump on the bandwagon is theres a thing called burnout. myself i delivery for amazon. not the vans. but for flex. and we do 3 to 4 hours a day with under 50 pckages and then we go home. we can decide if we want more of the action tommorow or not. of course that means flex drivers are not full time or even part time drivers but like in the middle. basically we're our own business. lol. we do our own taxes. so technically that remains true. but anyway this burnout can be controlled. feeling like you work too much this week and need a break. with flex you have that luxury.

Lol.....I'm sorry....I've hustled retail delivery as a CDL trucker since 1998....physical work....13/14 hour days, 5 days a week, and you're quitting a 7 hour a day job? Yes, my family life suffered, but as a man, we support our families. If a spouse cannot support the man as being a primary wage earner, it's a relationship not meant to be. True.....trucking isn't for everyone.....some aren't willing to work long hours for $80k per year while having no social life. If a person is smart or savvy enough to generate a livable income otherwise, good for them. But hard work never killed anybody, and it's a personal attribute that is seriously lacking in today's society.

I totally agree with everything you said! This isnt about quitting a good job that is the lifeline of your family. This is about leaving something you hate for something better. For example, I am just about to turn the corner of making ends meet just from personal training, getting closer and closer to just doing what I went to school for to provide for my family. I just talk to people everyday who feel stuck in a job that barely meets needs that they hate and I dont think thats living life. That barely even seems like surviving. You can get down in the dirt and work hard and not hate what youre doing. That is a possibility for everyone.

Wrong, hard work has shortened the life span of many. And not to mention the toll it takes on your body. I worked as a Package handler for FedEx, and as a part time employee. You basically do eight/ nine hours of work in four/ five hours. The system they have does not work, so the turnover rate is very high. People come and go like a revolving door.

I just left FedEx after 9 months as a Maintenance Technician II. I worked at the Chicago HUB and it was ok, I am experienced and that is where it ends. This place is terrible. If you are a rookie, or a 50yr old rookie that does not feel comfortable with electrical, you will be fine. Enjoy those 3% annual merit increases. No progression up at all, unless you want to be an underpaid Manager. Plenty of lazy Technicians playing on their cell phones and sleeping. You will not be rewarded with your work ethic, and management breaks their word all the time. People will know your earnings per hour before you start. OMG should I continue? Good for rookies and Millenials, bad for Gen-Xers and people that can cut through the B.S. of The Purple Promise quickly. You are better off going into food.

I disagree that 'anyone could do this job'. No sorry..... You need to be in good shape & have good self-awareness, plus the ability to put your phone down & work hard. It's not for everyone. Jumping in and out of a truck 200+ times per/day wouldn't last a week for many people. Take care of your knees and ankles.

You have air conditioning! Like I said I’m in southern Florida and I almost felt like I was going to have a heat stroke last Friday when it was 102 with bad humidity. I ran out of Powerade the fan doesn’t even work in the truck. If your in Florida I think air conditioning should be mandatory. At least on low or something. Because it’s only my second week and wow.. plus I don’t have a fancy computer I have a zebra with no Mount, and I can use my cell phone to navigate…wohoo…this is..ugh

When you say destroy your body suck out your soul job... Honestly I doubt it. I was an order selector for a year and a half and I had to stack over 500 boxes of yogurt and do 10 of those pallets a day. It sucked. But like 100 to 200 packages a day can't be too hard. Now I'n sure it has its tough parts like weather and traffic, but I think it's physically doable. I've seen old people doing these jobs.

Fellow Fedex Grounder from Canada. I hate Toronto area fuckin building apartments where lazy concierge don't wana keep parcel with them and send us drivers upstairs. I have a mall too on my route which kinda sucks. I lasted a year though luckily my contractor isnt too bad.

Some drivers are the worst they blame there employers about the job . And then quite. I have fed ex routes. And the drivers allways fighting with each other . One of my drivers quit on a long email rant about how it sucks working for me. All jobs have there up sides and down side……. Driving a truck it’s not easy but drivers sometimes act like idiots. I have 1 year left until my fed ex contract is over can’t wait never again am I buying a fed ex route. I have even given them all raises and they still are miserable. They can afford to quit because they know there are lots of driving jobs . Dont matter what job you do all jobs have there up side and down side….

I did 3 stops on Friday and that’s it lol. I don’t even touch the freight! Bro for me, I wish I would’ve made the move earlier lol.

@@BP_2869 Compton brother, a couple of the other guys I was in class with got their CDL through express. I went and got it on my own while I was still a courier. Even though I already had my CDL when I make the move, I still had to do a pre and post 40 and 3 weeks of class, just no DMV. I got right to work after it was all done.

I worked Fedex home delivery before they had the GPS, I had to go off memory and google maps lol it sucked at first really bad. We would have 80-130 stops a day... What really blows my mind is that drivers have to sort through the truck and reorganize 50 plus packages and then sit and wait almost 2 hours to get the rest of the packages... Why the fuck don't they just load the trucks at night or early in the morning and then have Express grab stuff thats later in the day... Home/Ground drivers get paid 600-700 a week working crazy long hours and are treated like a number, very disposable... It's a young person job now, all the older guys done quit years ago. Only good thing thats happened in the past 15 years is GPS in the trucks now LMFAO
