I hope I could motivate at least one of you to carry on doing what you love. I wanted to share this message because this one thought alone works EVERY single time for me, and I always come back more inspired than ever. You never know what life will throw at you, and it’s even worse when it all comes at once, at the wrong time, and we end up quitting what we love and live for. I seem to have offended someone with the click-baity-ness of this video, but my intention wasn’t just to get views, but to catch those who are on the edge already. When people are at their lowest, they aren’t gonna search for ‘how to get my motivation back’ or ‘how to overcome doubtful thoughts as a musician’ - it just doesn’t happen. So this is my way of trying to bypass that, and get the message out there that I think we all need to hear. Thanks for stopping by, and as always, I appreciate your ongoing support! 🙏🏼

I have been playing guitar for 30 years, and I have been following guitar players since 1999, from chops from hell, to Stave Vai, to Jason Becker, to Guthrie Govan, and you are (in my opinion) the best, most talented guitar player I have ever seen. Keep on going, remember Guthrie used to work in Mcdonald's while trying to have a break in music, before he finally made it.

Great video, mate. I've only just found your channel, but I'll be sure to check out more of it! I'm really conflicted. Part of me wants to keep going, the other part of me just wants to give up. Music has turned into a "visual first" kind of thing, which thanks to genetics, ain't in my favor. Not saying I'm ugly, just saying I'm not really anything that will make people stop and watch. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano/synths, vocals as well as music production with around 20 years of experience. At this stage, I have over 30 songs written just needing to be recorded. But, with all the music marketing courses I've done, all the tutorials I've watched and followed, I haven't been able to make music my career which is my goal. Letting go might be a viable option honestly. But yeah, kind of not inspired right now.

It’s hard in these times as well, means more is at stake, and the risk seems a lot greater. But, like I say in the video, I think the regret we will feel, will hurt a lot more. Definitely get that stuff produced (when you can) and that’s one hell of a track lost to have in preparation! Well done 🙏🏼 thanks for stopping by!

that's why I have a normal job with the City. I knew a long time ago that the music business was not going to cut it. There's too many outlets and choosing where to focus to make any money is a gamble. I just release music whenever I do. If someone likes it, cool. I hope to finish my solo album and have at least another album full of music in my long list of recording albums.

Two years ago, I developed dystonia in my right hand, which made playing the guitar painful and caused me to stop playing. But recently, I somehow found myself picking up the guitar again. It's a lot of fun, and I've reaffirmed that I love it. I feel I want to be involved in music until I die. I'm a huge fan of your music and playing. Thank you for giving me inspirations and motivation.

As I wait eagerly for your next full album project, I would/will purchase immediately...your previous two releases (Heavy Balance and Astrian Trek) and all your work with JTC leaves me very anxious for more and I know I'm not alone! But unlike yourself, I made a decision early in my college days to pursue "the safer" career route (pilot), though it was entirely my own decision. At the time (age 19), I watched so many talented local musicians just spinning their wheels and I felt I could never compete with their abilities, concluding if they couldn't' "make it", there was certainly no way I ever could! That said, I never left music or better, it never left me! It was one thing I could always count on. I have fiercely played as a hobby for years and now, with the ability to create my own home music studio & with the powerful DAW's out there, plus publishers like TuneCore , I've finally been able to realize that dream (though more to my own amusement than any actual success!). I think bottom line, the love of creating music, or just the love of music, is a lifelong commitment that exists in so many different forms, music/guitar just makes life better!

I absolutely agree that every person should follow their dreams and do what they can do best and want to do. I do play guitar because that's what I can do, even though I have worked and still do a horrible job with colleagues who constantly ask me "why do you play?" They don't understand who I am and what I am doing, and I have no intention of wasting my time with empty conversations with them. Do what you love, and the reward is the honey of your soul's labor!🙏

Tramaine you are a legend, your favourite track to me is star scream, an absolute belter of a track. I've been playing for 23 years now, I haven't had lessons and yes there are loads of things I struggle with but after putting in the work, the hours and hours of practice for it to go right that one time, you know you can do it. Keep up the amazing work as you are very underrated as a guitarist. I can't do half of the things you can and I look at what you do as inspiration to push myself further and to make myself a better guitarist but never give up, it's constantly a lesson, one which I have no intention of ever giving up.

I've tried having different jobs over the years, but music is the one thing that will never burn me out. Making music is the thing that I can't stop thinking about above all else. To stop making music is what would make me feel more guilty than anything else. I know that I have this passion and this gift inside of me. Discovering music that resonates with me is the greatest gift that I've ever received, and I want to return the favor by making music that lets other people feel emotions that they never would know are possible to feel otherwise. It's the best way that I can make the world a better place and to leave behind my legacy that will make a permanent difference.

This is exactly how i feel about music and being a musician. Yes, there would be a myriad of negative emotions like guilt and regret, that I think I would likely spend more of time time trying to suppress if I did quit haha! i think it's natural at this stage to be constantly sliding around on the scale of optimism and pessimism; sometimes thing seem great, other times we just wanna throw the towel in. But, I think every time I've managed to get past the negative thoughts, things always lighten up!

NEVER GIVE UP AND BE TRUE TO YOURSELF. As a woman guitarist, I agree with Tramaine. I have had enormous satisfaction in being a guitarist, composer, and singer. Yesterday while waiting inside a Mexican restaurant I observed a huge Mexican hat that Mariachi players use. My memory returned to when I was 5 years old and my father took me to see a live Mariachi band. That's where the awe hit me when I saw this big guitar bass being played. I WANTED TO PLAY GUITAR. This petite child embraced the magic and appeared on TV, theater, played guitar in Spain for a charity and received a standing ovation. Admitted to Juilliard School of Music. Taught guitar to students where I see one in Instagram. My participation in an International Peace conference at NYU defending Human Integrity and Dignity. Remember self doubt will get you no where. Follow your passion and you validate your worth. We learn from failure not success. DARE TO BE YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF AS I STILL DO. THANKS TRAMAINE 🙏

My main motivation to keep going is to have the freedom of not having to work for someone else. (Not self employed at the moment unfortunately). The stumbling block to get more success is my health. If my health (physical) was better it could be easy for me to do gigs as a transition back to music. I think my audience can think i'm just lazy and don't care sometimes when it's really ailments that prevent me from gigging. The battle for now is proving to my fanbase I have a "presence" in the world of music without performing all the time. As you are much aware managing an audience is much like managing a marriage; it is very mentally and physically taxing. People need a lot of taking care of . You have to produce enough value for them or else they leave. Trying recording projects at the moment instead. Haven't made profits but at least i am seeing some returns. I'm sure you yourself have had similar either setbacks or experiences seeing other musicians get set back and have to come back to base.

Thankfully, a big portion of my fans are very supportive, I recognise the usual names in the comments on basically every video, same with shares and sales on my site etc. and I wish I could work hard just for those guys because for how supportive they are. In few words, I’m a music addict, especially guitar, I know maybe all the best, I have of course my preferences, I’m a guitar player too, and I can tell you, for me it’s like a profession look for new guitar players, and when I found you, first of all I was in shock about your skills, you seemeed to me like had no limits, but the most impresive aspect of the process was these shorts of your own music, I became an addict of this peace of art you share for all of us. Man, there are many guitar virtuosos but at the same time artists, not that much, but at the same time guys that can take the art to another level, just a few genius, and you are one of this selected group. I've been listening to you since the 2019 kiesel contest, and the work you do is spectacular. Its tough to see all the thousands of creators in this field struggling with similar things. Large community with a small branches. I remember hearing jacky vincent for the first time on a Jared Dines mega collab and checking him out I found what I felt was fairly modest success in spite of the incredible talent. Maybe notoriety comes from somewhere else, some lucky break that gets people saying your name from all walks of life. Like you gave more than a lasting impression but something that affects their life on a daily or at least weekly basis, soundtrack of their life. Broad audiences may make the big bucks but they can't be everyones passion, and sometimes its better to get by and do what makes you happy. As a minor observation it seems like instrumental music leaves less of a deep impression on non-creatives or non-musicians. Like yeah we can all appreciate the talent but most people aren't going to look past the surface to learn the person behind it. Its easier to relate to a personality and when you're singing or producing content where people are exposed to who you are and not just what you can do it gets more familiar. Or parasocial.
@Tramaineguitar
@Tramaineguitar 15 күн бұрын
We are basically in 100% agreement. That’s how I feel (what you mentioned about instrumental music) and it’s very hard to stand out in something that’s already extremely niche, but at the same time over-populated (in terms of ‘competition’.
@Archlogicka

@Tramaineguitar at this point it seems like the game to get fame in this industry is "how to introduce yourself to someone else's larger audience and sift out the more curious," like how big a project or collab can you get yourself on. It's not all bad if you can at least get the bigger creators to remember you, maybe some producers like what they hear and invite you on as a feature or your clip comes up on a podcast. On a smaller scale as a creator though you have to stick to a very narrow formula for predictable content or you'll go from 2k views to 200, because it's not the thing those people came for.

Being a musician is a blessing and a curse. It’s so great to be able to make music and create but it’s so frustrating trying to make it pay the bills. That’s a lot of releases! I’ll have to check you out, what’s your handle on Spotify? Yeah it is frustrating. But what most (including myself) don’t know before their first release, is how important promotion, marketing and branding is. To be honest, nowadays I think it’s more important than the art! Everybody wanted everything packaged nicely and perfectly, they don’t seem to care too much about what is inside. A bit like how toddlers prefer playing with the box rather than the actual toy haha

@ thanks :) my artist name it “The Plan” (it’s meant to be ironic because I don’t have one 😂) however, there’s a couple of other artists with the same name :/ My DP is of the planet. Yep, it’s all about the marketing. A lot of musicians just release music and expect everything to take off but it doesn’t work that way. Every single product on the planet needs marketing. The thing is, by the time I’m done writing, playing all the instruments, singing, mixing, mastering etc, I just have nothing left for all that marketing work. It’s hard to do everything yourself :/

Buddy at some point you are gonna climb the ranks of this youtube thing. Your technical skill on your instrument is very rare with the precision you have. The production quality is also extremely well put together. And also maybe the most overlooked part of your playing is your musicianship. You are a great musician, and i think some people might forget that when they watch you play, because the way you play is so locked in motherfucking tight that it's not even funny. I look forward to seeing your future videos, maybe you can reach out to some people and ask if they want to be interviewed or do a collab with. This could give you the exposure you deserve.

Yeah it is unfortunately! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my ‘hits’ but most of the time, the results can be underwhelming. Weirdly, the videos I spend the least time on seem to do the best. This is no exaggeration and happens 90% of the time. I get that something I produce, my audience just isn’t interested. They may see the video on their feed, but not resonate with it enough to wanna view it. But sometimes KZbin just doesn’t push your videos, if it think your audience won’t like it. I know this just looking at Click-through rate and people commenting they had no idea of done said videos. KZbin is a tough one to crack but interesting and curious.

I didnt practice this much the whole time though, I've ramped up my play time over time. I just want to record and write music so bad, but my recordings still suck. I've wanted to quit many times but keep going. I've spent a lot of my life wanting to create. Stuff, music, etc depending what I was doing in life. I've always had a musical family but always fought it as a kid for some reason. I feel like now I know this is what I want to do even if it took me a long time to figure it out. so I need to stick to it even if I end up getting 2 views when I finally make music lmao. To anyone reading this in a similar boat- Just keep going, it will be worth it. You need to authentically be yourself. If you want to make music, you need to make music. Even if its just in your bedroom before bed.

And the likelihood is, you will get just 2 views to start with! But it’s worth doing because there’s nothing better than watching your music grow, and the impact it can have on others. I think everyone has something to offer musically, so it’s never wasted time to creat music and put it out there! Good luck with your production dude! 🙏🏼

Wish the video had existed 30 some years ago. (But even KZbin didn't exist then lol). Quit guitar for a while because I couldn't see a path to a sustainable living back then. Esp. not trying to support not just me but family too. I did pick it back up a few years later but at that point it was for ME and because I regained my passion for it, not out of a desire to "make it big". There's a few more paths and options these days for those that want to try their hand at making a career out of it, but I don't dwell on that. I play primarily because I LOVE to play. Any other reasons are secondary now.

I gave up last year. I’ve not uploaded a video since and haven’t played my guitar much since. For me I was just stagnating, despite the practice I wasn’t getting better and I was never going to be able to play the songs that I really wanted to play. So I always just had to settle for what was within my ability. I just felt like I’d gone as far as I could, plus my videos weren’t great, I didn’t get the views and there’s better guitarists out there doing much better work than me.

It’s discourse isn’t it…I haven’t checked you out yet, but I’m sure you have plenty of experience on KZbin, making videos etc and there’s nothing worse than spending time creating something, and it doesn’t get the expected attention. But I honestly believe in the saying ‘where there is a will, there’s a way’ and it’s just finding out what ‘the way’ is. So even if you feel your abilities are limited, I’m sure there is a market for your skills somewhere, or maybe something you do differently that makes you stand out. The hard bit is discovering what that is. Best of luck to you man! 🙏🏼

It's a tough field. Even Guthrie who is one of the best of all times only got some recognition when he was almost forty (he was 36 in those jam track videos that made him famous). You should do it only if you truly love it with every single cell of your body (and if you are pretty good at it too)

Imagine looking back in your older years on your demonic playing videos and being gobsmacked at what you achieved, "I did THAT?!?". Once youve done a vid and its out there, its out there forever - infinite; inspiring leagues of future players, and hopefully bringing back the best age of music - original instrumental.

So many of us quit back in the day 80s-90s. I know a shit ton of killer players back then but due to the absolute horrors at getting demos out there. Today’s ability and use of different platforms you are seen a lot easier than back then-certainly not saying ur not putting in the effort. We hung around music stores and rehearsal rooms and sent out demos that only those closest to us we believed heard. You are one of these new players that have got many of us “overweight” old geezers to dust off our axes and start enjoying playing again. It might not make you money but I for one are sharing your videos as far as I can. Oh btw once again fk the h8ers🤘🏼

I wanted to make content on and educate others on fictional mythology, like comic books. I was lucky enough to score some content creator interviews of famous people and I had thought that these interviews would help others regard me as a good source of data. However, this turned into the opposite of what I had hoped. It disparaged others to a point of thousands in the community of comics just hating me with the fury of 1000 suns. Ever since, I've fought a relentless war of misinformation and pure hate, death threats and more against me, just for showing others what comics and anime mangas actually said. I talk about superheroes all day, and there are times were I want to quit due to having fake reports sent against my channel every day, to the point that my channel can't be seen by others often. Its a struggle, but he heroes wouldnt give up, and I cant either. While I make my content and edit, or research, I listen to you often. I am ethnically romani gypsy, music is in my blood and I missed my calling on the guitar aspect, but I fell victim to my own self disparaging my own soul. I said to myself "Bireli and Stochelo exist, what use will I be? I'd never be that good." I stopped playing around age 18 because of this. Im 38 now. I regret it.

It’s terrible that you’re having to endure that on a daily basis, simply for providing facts that people don’t like. In all communities, there are those gatekeepers, who thrive on elitism. It’s all they care about and the only thing that gives them meaning which in my opinion, is a sad way to live! I hope one day people will finally understand you 🙏🏼 I had a similar thing when I was 18, and I’d likely be in your position if I’d had succumbed to those thoughts, thankfully I didn’t, but I was very close indeed!

I’m happy playing it home, for me and a few shitty Facebook / tick tok videos. I get a few likes, like 10-20 and that’s enough to keep me going. You are a world class player, probably in the 0.01 percent in technical ability alone. It is a mystery why your channel hasn’t blown up yet. I remember when a guitarist like Roy Ziv’s Channel was around 25-30k subs for a long time. Then he did these many different shorts like “what if ‘my heart Will go on’ had a solo” and videos where he both acted as a producer and guitarist where the guitarist part took instructions from the producer on how to Play the solo, but the guitarist kept overdoing it because he is a shredder. I dont know if you have a comedic sense, but maybe that could inspire some idea, that hits mainstream😅 Anyhow, I Will keep listening regardless 🤘🎸

The possibilities are endless? In 2025? In music? Session work? Besides youtube there is about nothing left and every talented guitar player has a youtube channel thinning day after day the public potential. We can all dream of living from a passion or hobby but those times are over and with AI nothing will be left. It is not a shame being a gardener or a woodworker with some music on the side.

I stand correct. Just watched some of your solo videos, don t stop.indeed. Personally as an ex shredder myself paying for the house and having to make income to eat made me stop although I tried several years recording a night working daytime. I’ve been quite fortunate with my opportunities in music. Yeah - I barely scrape by, but it’s more than most people have achieved after 10 years, so I can’t complain. Let’s see what 2025 brings! The possibilities do seem pretty endless, and to some extent they are, but then I sometimes feel taking certain things will feel like ‘work’ and that’s what I don’t want. It’s inevitable to some degree, but I’m really afraid about losing the passion I have for music, and that’s it’ll feel like a chore if I do things I’m not inspired by.

We need to get all the dedicated fans together and share your music on social media and repost it! IF YOU'RE READING THIS, AND YOUR A FAN, SHARE YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC OF HIS TO THE PUBLIC ON SOCIAL MEDIA! Most of today's "music" is total trash. Im not even sure it can be properly defined as music. But am I happy sitting down, writing & recording stuff & just bloody enjoying myself in the process? Fek YEAH, been doing it for years= That is being successful IMO:) I gave up years ago & It's only since being retired I've decided to actually put the stuff I've been working on out there for folk to hear.
