I have 5 Miéville’s books in my shelf, Perdido Street Station series, Embassytown and The City and the City. Looking forward for your review to see when I’ll start reading them. The Foundation series is great. In my opinion you cannot read just the first book, you have to read the whole original series.

Your channel is now one of my favorites! Two questions: Where do you get your books and how do you budget your time for reading so many books?
@rammelbroadcasting20 күн бұрын
Thank you! I get my books from everywhere. My favorites are hard cover, and I like older books, so I stop by a used book store at least every other week. That's honestly most of them. When I need a specific book Amazon and thrift books are next. And I only read about 4 books a month (which is low by booktube standards lol) but I always download an audio version of the book I'm reading. So I read physically when I'm on my breaks or in the evening on weekends etc. And listen while I'm driving or doing chores. You'd be surprised how quick you get through a book.

I know captsquashy mentioned this, but I saw 2 movies based on the Sylvia Likens case, both The Girl Next Door and An American Crime and I thought An American Crime was a much better film, with a better quality of actors, but yes, the things Sylvia went through were horrific. Congrats on the 15K! Hugs to you and yours!

_Maybe_ my favourite short-story writer, just on bang for buck and hit rate if nothing else - lots of big SF&F/metaphysical ideas deftly dealt with in small packages. (but online at least, people don't seem to care much for short-stories so not surprising JLB doesn't get a lot of play)

The Strouds blew up the moon. (Tom Grossi reference). Since you are jumping into MoI right away, seems like you enjoyed Deadhouse Gates. When I got all of the Second Apocalypse, one of them is a different height. Which bothers me more than it should. Finished Wizard by Wolfe and was disappointed. Might read Starshio Troopers next as it is short. But did find Watership Down at Half Price a while ago after reading it in high school - and after I had seen the cartoon. Haven't watched the new one yet. So your shirt might be a sign. How traumatic can a book about bunnies be? Or maybe Anathem since I read Liebowitz last month.
@rammelbroadcasting22 күн бұрын
@EricMcLuen I kinda like the look of all messed up books or sizes in a series. But if only one was different, that would be a little irritating

Yeah, "The Girl Next Door" is kind of "Torture Porn: The Novel" IMO and that's _really_ not my kind of horror, almost DNFed it. One of those unusual books that's "good" _and_ i'll never, ever read it again, nor do I believe my life would be materially worse if i'd never read it at all :). ('Foundation's a big one to have missed but we all have those weird gaps - I haven't read "Lord of the Rings" for instance but I hear good things :)
