We must remember, love and respect our Legends while they're here. Whatever Janet's idea's or thoughts are hers and not anyone else's. Her fans have ALWAYS seen nothing but a woman who has endured a lifetime of success, and also disappointments. She has always been a feminist, a freedom fighter, a woman of respect and equality, strength and resilience. She is the same woman who has been open and honest about her weight struggles, plastic surgery and her FIGHT to be a black woman in the industry. Her music has been about her life's struggles and she's shared those struggles with her fans. Not only has she defied the industry and their intentions for black women by not following the status quo, and not being bullied into the concepts of what the industry depict black women to represent, being whorish and disrespected. Though she's not perfect, she has stated that as well, and so we should remember who she really is and how she's positioned herself to speak out on racism, division, inequality, inclusivity. Lets not let "them" make us disrespect, disregard, and dismantle what she's done for the culture, like they've tried for years with MJ. What she said or did not say, what she meant, or did not mean doesn't define her WHOLE CAREER and LIFE. And as disappointed as this issue may be, if she in fact said what she said, she's still human, she's still the black woman that defined a whole generation of black girls and women by being a woman that looks like them and who has influenced them to be dancers, rock the key on the ear ring, who taught them to be okay in their thickness, and who has shown that being thick is okay, way before Lizzo was trying to figure it out, before beyonce was with DC, Janet was knocking down doors. All the young girlies of todays music, Teyanna Taylor, Tinashe, Tyla, Britney Spears, Doja Cat, Destiny's Child, Ciara, Aaliyah,Cheryl Cole including males, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and others. So I find it hard to fathom that Janet would utter words that go against who she is, what she represents and her reputation. We must remember, they build artist up, to break them down...and sometimes artist forget to keep their guards up at all time. I have said it before, during that Superbowl incident afterwards, they are trying to tear Janet down like they did MJ, and someone is sabotaging her legacy....MJ, Janet, the Jacksons have always been unproblematic and because they are, they become an easy target. Janet needs to be more careful in who she trust and of those who are hiding in the shadows, including family members

Let’s hear the Atlanta story 😅 But also I don’t think it’s unreasonable for public facing people to ask their fans or audience for certain things within reason. At the end of the day you’re still a person and to me it makes you more relatable in a way I think. But obviously things that jeopardize your or the other persons safety is a no no. I think that a lack of relatability can definitely hurt public facing people.

I'm glad you got your item back from Hertz. They were playing in your face! It was very reasonable to ask your community for help. #ASKZ for future episode - Say you are in the supermarket looking at items on the shelf. Another shopper comes up next to you. They reach in front of you. Either their hand, arm or half of their body has entered your personal space so that they can grab an item that is in front of you. They did not say excuse me or acknowledge you. Is it reasonable to want to fight that person? :) I joke... but is it reasonable to say something to them so they understand it would be best to say "excuse me" in these situations?
@brandobeewellАй бұрын
Few thoughts as a Janet Stan. Yes, it’s reasonable to diss a national treasure. Sometimes ppl in your life say misinformed things and you still gotta rock with them because they are your people. I’ll stand behind her but she’s not above critique. She’ll be fine. She dealt with the superbowl thing and so she knows how to handle backlash. DL went a too far but that’s expected from him. Her brother Randy is a trump supporter no? Apparently Kamala was pretty harsh about Michael during his allegations. Also if Michael is the only Jackson for you that’s fine, but we not gonna act like Janet isn’t the blueprint for so many artists we love today. She doesn’t have to be for you, but her impact cannot be questioned.

Yes, "National Treasures" can and should be. I love Janet, but lets be honest, she is not new to the media game. She was with MJ when he went from global treasure to alleged US pd-phile in the eyes of the media. I'm sure she remembers how Timberlake allowed her to take the hit from the Superbowl issue. She toured with Colin Powell to promote America's Best project for children. All that aside, if you don't know something then you don't know. Her response was as if she was talking to her good Judy and not a reporter. Celebrities are human and to err is human. She should own it, and do a sit down with Kamala not to promote her, but Black Woman to Black Woman a conversation with Madam VP. But of course folks will say she is promoting her instead of a seek to know. We as a people have to quit giving Blacks a pass but attack whites or others that spread misinformation. Its ok to be wrong, just own it. And if you slight publicly, apologize publicly as well.

Let's just be clear...freedom of speech no longer means freedom of speech, it now means one human will voice how they feel so other humans can go and rebuttal that individual's opinion with things such as "what you should've done", etc... It's so funny because when we're kids we're taught to be "accepting" and "not bully", yet as we get older everyone does the opposite of "accepting" different walks of life/opinions and resorts to bullying. Bullying doesn't have to be aggressive and straightforward to be labeled as such. It comes in different shapes and sizes, just like everything else.

In my culture (muganda from Uganda), you are identified as predominantly your father's race. It's only the younger people (my age and below) who started calling themselves half something. So you speak your father's, "mother tongue" (the irony of calling it that in a patriarchal society) and only if people are discussing you in someway does your other half come out. Even single parent mothers not only name their children from the father's clan, but raise them as their father's tribe. I think it's because of inheritance and rights more than honouring the father or his culture. In Uganda, by law, you inherit both culturally and legally from your father's estate. The above is even if the father doesn't acknowledge or raise the child. The funes of men be dramatic because of this. Dna testing is a big business in Uganda.

Who said she was national treasure? Isn’t her brother the national treasure? She’s national treasure by proxy? I mean, we chairs her and look up to her as much as we cherish and look up to Madonna. If she wasn’t the little sister of Michael Jackson, she wouldn’t be held in such high regard as she is. Seeing she’s a national treasures like saying that’s Solange is a national treasure. Solange is good. Her singing is great. Her music I actually like it better than Beyoncé is truthfully, but, Beyoncé is the national treasure. Let’s just be truthful. Now the next question is it still all right to come after her if she’s gonna insert herself and be shady and politics, especially when it goes against the majority of the people that support her yeah we we good on clapping back . What she did was a full opposite of what her brother would’ve ever done. He was real truthful with his. Think about all he’s done for our people and everyone here in the US in the world and what she’s done. She ain’t done anything for us. She ain’t rallied. She ain’t raise money. She did do was go have a baby by really young Saudi Arabian so that she could make sure she had, some money as they started to lose all the money that they were from Michael. What she did was to make sure she secured her coins by having a baby in her 50s by man that was way too young for her. And I’m also pretty sure that man was a African black billionaire she wouldn’t had that baby.
