For everyone saying she just needs to accept herself; Asian cultures often value fair skin. Not only is she dealing with a condition that covers her entire face, she’s dealing with cultural issues.

then maybe it is for the best that she feels what it feels to be dark.. Asian culture is pathetic, hopefully this will be a humbling experience for her.. she probably got it from bleaching anyways.

Exactly, she didn’t like that it made her look like the ladies that work in the rice fields. That’s like the worst thing ever for women

@@Penny-mk7fvIt's always fascinating how cultures view tans. In eastern cultures poorer people work out in the sun, and if you are pale it means you are rich enough to stay indoors. In western culture hard work is glorified, and having a tan in the past meant you were a hard worker and providing for your family, now even rich white people want to emulate it.

@@AccidentallyOnPurpose also in Ancient Greece you find exactly the same association of beauty with light skin, so it’s probably a very very ancient aesthetic

Bernadette you’re not alone! I’m a 38yr old single mum and three yrs ago my melasma started. The thing is it’s really bad and dark on my upper lip and gets way worse in summer. Because of where it is it looks like a moustache and I’m so self conscious and wear lots of makeup over it, but I’m the summer it’s super dark and because it’s so hot I sweat and the makeup comes off leaving me looking like a woman with a moustache. I’m afraid I don’t have any advice but I just wanted u to know that ur not alone in this!! Much love

Something you can find in the drugstore to help you is niacinamide. Drugstore options are usually very low concentrations so take longer to get effect. The Ordinary has a great niacinamide serum.

Try alpha Arbutin, also by the Ordinary, as well as retinol. Glycolic acid can help too.
@CapitalismSuxx
@CapitalismSuxx 7 ай бұрын
@@gretaweiss6802 Alpha Arbutin is also great but that one doesn't last. If you stop the Arbutin, pigments return. Niacinamide they return very slowly or never return at all. Glycolic acid can also help, but please remember that on dark skin it may leave post inflammatory hyperpigmentation if you are sensitive and use it too often! Always do a patch test before regular use! Niacinamide is a B-vitamin so very safe to use! Please check out Dr Drays videos on this subject, she has great playlists on ingredients!

For everyone saying she needs to accept her looks - Its hard to just "accept" yourself with melasma. It is ALWAYS changing if its not controlled. Spreading and getting darker. You dont have a chance to get to an equilibrium and get used to how you look. You need to at least use a strong SPF which makes you look weird with a white cast so then you have to use makeup to cover it. Its a cycle and it sucks.

I had/have the same condition on my face from sun exposure. I had to use a bleaching cream for about 8 months. Mit burned terribly. After treatment, dermatologist showed me my face with a blacklist and the melasma showed up. He said it will always be in the deep layers of my skin. I wear sun block on, face and avoid the sun ad much as possible. I'm spanish and my dermatologist said it is more common in European skin.

Check with a dermatologist for pico laser, hydroquinone cream and tretinoin retin-a cream. I have it as well and it’s getting better, although it will take a good 3 laser sessions and 6 months on the cream medication to get rid of it. SPF 50 everyday even indoors, mine spreads because of heat and indoor lighting. Good luck!

I have melasma as well. Just as severe as hers on the cheeks. Thankfully, not on the forehead. I have been to the dermatologist and nothing works. The dermatologist told me I would have to wait for some years before they disappear on their own. I have putting foundation on my face too like this woman. I am not comfortable with it. Menopause has triggered mine. Been going on for 5 yrs now with the melasma. I need to see Dr Emma but I live in Canada. I wish my dermatologist did what Dr Emma did. He only gave me a Hydroquinone cream and a cream from the company Skin Cuticle but none of it made a difference.

Definitely see another dermatologist and get pico laser treatments, it takes multiple sessions to blast it. Keep using the hydroquinone and tretinoin cream, plus spf 50 sunscreen everyday even indoors. It really takes several months, sometimes a year for it to go away. Mine has really improved after 1 laser treatment, I’m saving up money for more sessions. Good luck!
