1:11 Happens all the time when you move from a team with a bad O-line to a decent one: Yes, I see a DE blitzing, but the LT, LG or RB actually picked him up and dropped the blitzer, but I panicked, and told the QB to move across or climbed the pocket, and missed the throw, or ran into someone.

Looking at the first two plays Play one 1)Darnold organizes the protection correctly 2) makes sure the side he wants to throw to is blocked. 3) line fails darnold throws pick Play 2 1) line is prepared Protection is good but not perfect 2) darnold expects a slide right but instead the play slides left 3) darnold did not communicate with his line wich way he wanted to go with the ball. 4) darnold stares through free runner and gets hit and fumbles. The key against zero is that the line and qb shift togather The line blocks the blitzers to the same side the qb wants to throw to On these plays they are not in sync and it costs them Darnolds lack of communication on play 2 is an important part of the plays failure. Its clear he expected them to do what they were supposed to do in play 1(slide right) This leads me to believe thier is a gap between what darnold wants and what the oline coach is telling the lineman to do. Im planning on making my own channel at some point. And I definitely appreciate your work alot. Curious what you think about my addition of line slants and qb vision slants being in sync on these plays

This video is really informative! It does a really good job at showing how a below-average o-line and a rookie QB can get easily exploited by a much more consistent and organized team. Patriots don't have the best defense (so far, can't make any generalities until week 14 or so), but they have been able to wash these bad teams in a pretty smooth manner. Their wins against the Jets, Bills, and Giants have all been the same. Would love to see a breakdown of the 49ers vs rams breakdown.

Can you do a video on the Patriots offensive system, like you did for the West Coast?
@TheLocalLt4 жыл бұрын
It’s part of the Earhardt-Perkins system, which is the other major playcalling system in the nfl besides the WCO, the reason Belichick runs it because he was there when it was designed by the 80s Giants, he schemed against it every day in practice and has always admired its versatility (one-word playcalling). The offense is, like the WCO, now split into so many variations thanks mainly to the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree, but the common theme of Earhardt-Perkins offenses is “throw to score, run to win”. Now with time, there have sprung up run-heavy branches of the WCO that also encapsulate this philosophy, such as the Shanahan branch, but the phrase was coined by Ron Earhardt, after whom the offense is named along with Ray Perkins, the Giants head coach at the time.

It's incredible to me how so many underestimate the effect bad pass pro has on a QB. Look at Daltons regression in Cincinnati. A serviceable QB turned into bottom tier QB in just a few years. This week he threw interceptions back to back in a span of seconds. Only thing interesting about this Darnold situation is that he was on the hot mic admitting to seeing ghosts, but it's obvious he's not the only one that experiences this.

So this is what makes me wonder how detailed defensive schemes get. At 5:39 the center and right guard are doing a standard doubleteam which makes sense for priority of the the inside man. The wide pass rusher really is lined up way outside in like a 9 technique which doesn't make sense with no backs if they're rushing the QB. I wonder if Belichick saw the chip problems/weakness and purposely created all that space between the right tackle and right guard to exploit it and if you notice the DT is slanting in which makes no sense unless it's a stunt or purposely trying to screw up the chip/combo. The real mistake here was the right guard making too much out of the combo when he didn't need to but he would have needed to slide to the outside almost immediately considering where his man was lined up. A first step away from his man is too much. Stinks we can't get this view on TV but if they were pulling stunts they could have set this situation up by creating worry on the inside. I wonder if that mistake is on film somewhere and it gets that detailed and got picked up or if I'm the one seeing ghosts?
