Honestly i dont really get why people are mad about this going live. I mean the guy is incredibly young and hes going against what could end up being one of those all time great defenses and he just was having a tough time figuring it out. It was honestly more enlightening than worrying, because it really shows us how qbs have to feel going against this monster contraption bill belichick has brought to the league. Sam will be a good qb, and hes super young and has plenty of time to learn and improve. People need to chill out

This is what happens when you play against a Bill Belicheck coached defense. Look at all the players that he coached throughout his coaching career. It’s a who’s who of great players like Lawrence Taylor, who for my money is the greatest edge rusher in the game of football, Carl Banks, Gary Reasons, albeit Gary was used mostly on special teams but he was still a key contributor to the Giants winning those early Super Bowls during the Parcell era, Pepper Johnson, who played and coached under Belicheck his entire career, Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour, Ty Law, Rodney Harrison, Laurence Milloy, and these are only defensive players. Coach Belicheck and his staff are very good at developing offensive players as well.
@brettbrooks55115 жыл бұрын
Can't forget Harry Carson and George Martin from the Belichick Giants defense. They were crucial to the 80s success of the Giants. Plus LT is the greatest defensive player of all time, not just edge rusher. Definite top 5 overall player of all time too.
@Tdull-tv1ds5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for bringing up Harry Carson and George Martin and yeah I said LT was an edge rusher and I’ll admit that he was good at other things as well but his forte was getting after the QB. He’s also the reason why many offensive coordinators had to stay up late building formations and game plans to prevent him from causing disruption in the backfield. Most of their ideas failed because LT was just too good and talented and he made anyone who lined up in front of him look like a high school football player.

Here's what I don't get: there are 31 other defensive coordinators in the NFL and plenty of tape on the Patriots defense. If what their defense is doing works so well, other teams should emulate the Pats defensive schemes. Darnold sure didn't see ghosts when they beat Dallas the week before. I would be more concerned as a Jets coach seeing Darnold's mechanics; he threw off his back foot over and over again.
