Ugly/laggy/confusing infotainment, fingerprintable surfaces, cheap plastic bits snuck into a luxury interior, back seat usablility, these are directly useful to the car buyer. I was a regular watcher until Doug started watering down his content, reviewing less than interesting cars just for his site, eliminating the Doug Score, and collaborating with insipid influencers. He should also stay out of the comments. Admonishing his fans for joining in as he drove like a maniac in his Carrera GT, then later buying a Countach because the Carrera GT really wasn't getting enough attention, that was just gross.

I still have it. I did change it from a 3 on the tree to a 6 speed, added vintage air and a bunch of insulation under the rubber mat. Like your Defender the Bronco has been involved in many wonderful adventures so l understand your sentiment and reason for selling it. I drove Land Rovers for 29 years, 1964 to 1993. I loved the cars. Spent about eleven of those years selling Land Rover and Rover parts in San Diego. I've owned a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the JK, since April 2012. My Rubicon, which has just under 45,000 miles on it after twelve years of ownership, has been one-hundred percent reliable except for having had its navigation system replaced at almost 12,000 miles. All the Jeep's radiator and heater hoses are the originals. No oil leaks. The speedometer has never been replaced. No broken rear axle shafts. While I'll always have a warm spot---read hot spot---in my heart for well-cared for Land Rovers, my "season" of ownership long ago ended. I'm now seventy-six years old. From time to time I've thought about buying another well-cared for Land Rover, as I told my late wife some years ago, "Don't ever let me buy another Land Rover. It would destroy our marriage." Fortunately for me, the woman I've been married to since 2011 was my wife when I ordered the 2012 Rubicon. Debbie loves Jeeps just as much as I do. A Jeep is not quite a member of the family, but it is a damn close and very reliable friend. In this day and age, you should be able to easily get $125,000 minimum for your Land Rover. Perhaps even over $200,000.. Best of luck to you, Doug! Andy McKane, 5 April 2024, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

I went through the same feelings selling my 2000 Wrangler TJ after 18 years of ownership and effectively never getting stranded

I've been watching you all the way since you bought this in 2017. I remember the DougCars, very cool, maybe you can bring that back!

I’m pretty sure 90% of these vintage defenders are here in Greenwich/surrounding areas with the remaining 10% in CA, where it makes much more sense. Love them. Boxy beautiful iconic.

I saw this same generation Defender in yellow on Palm Beach island

@@gwpeoples Nice! Man I’d rather be in pb with a yellow defender right this second. It’s undoubtedly *the* color.

When i think about Doug itd quirks and features and getting into back seats of cars and i always picture the Ford GT or the yellow defender as his car. Its like a part of his character and personality

Sad to see another OG Doug car go. 😢 You’ve got great memories and made memorable videos in it, like the one when you crushed an Audi Allroad and Kia Spectra. But that’s about it-priorities have changed and one has to let go of things that never fulfill the needs of the time anymore.

Doug's the type of guy to win the bid on his own car on cars and bids.

He’s correct. Back in 2017, that very first video with it is what got me into Doug’s channel. You’ve changed a ton since then. You’ve grown a lot. You’ve got a life and family to think about. Do I hate Doug for getting rid of it? Not at all. He needs to put life and family first.

I like the rear seats, excellent modification! 🚙🚙🚙

The money from selling this doesn’t change anything for you, why not just put it in storage for later, drive it once in a while, even not being a collector.. this was special for you. But you’ve made your decision, just hope it was the right one!

A very similar (but with less mileage) yellow soft top Defender just sold on another auction site for $106k

The best thing that has ever happened with this car was the Coronado Car Spotting video during Covid. The perfect car for a ‘quirky car spotting safari!’

I've had three different Defenders over the last thirty years and loved driving them all. Now, having become an Old Fart - ie, I'm now an OAP - I let my cousin have my last one and am driving my late mother's CRV. (It's a good car but no Defender.) My favourite Land Rover quote: old Land Rovers don't leak oil - they're just marking their territory. Have a nice life, Doug.

I remember when I was I a kid thinking the price of the NAS Defender was INSANE! Now the used price is even more INSANE. This is why I’m not ultra wealthy, I suppose.

We've really seen the transition from Daddy Doug to, well, Daddy Doug. The youtube journey is not over, it's just a natural progression and I'm here for it.

It's alright, Doug. I understand why you're selling it. Touching video. The look on your face when reviewing this car says it all about your connection to it. Life goes on.

Doug ...the type of guy who will sell his loved ones when it's time to do it... as long as it happened inside one of his business's 👋

If you listen to the audio of this video and imagine Doug laid out on a therapist's couch it makes so, so, so much more sense.

No one should fault you for putting your family’s safety first. And even keeping it just to drive it alone here and there, at some point it starts to feel like you’re being selfish with your time, which is not great either. You’re selling not for all the right reasons. Congrats to you and your wife on the birth of your second child!! ❤

I miss my old 1994 D90. 😢 Bought it new in ‘94. Drove it all over the Colorado high country passes and Utah high desert. Great times!

Doug, please fix your sound. It's the most important part of a KZbin video and do you have neglected it for too long. Edit: Love the video, love everything you do. Just wish you could solve this.
