It is the enthusiast's justification. "I haven't fall out of love with it". Yes, yes you have. And that's okay. As an M2 owner myself, and buying and selling several cars throughout my years I understand this feeling. Its not that you can specifically point out anything wrong with the car (which is why you're saying you still love it), but it just doesn't make your pants tingle anymore. Cars are not logical decisions, and logically the car is great. Perfect even. But as time goes on, everytime you get in, it feels slightly less special. Its part of the human condition. The way I've found that addresses this somewhat is to watch reviews of your own car. It helps you fall back in love Also completely agree with you re wrenching on your own cars. The sense of freedom of not needing to go to a mechanic is just so nice. Good luck with your Fiat! FWIW I drive a Clio 182 cup and Megane R26. I owned an '18 M2 for only 3 years for the same reason. A great commuter and a pretty fun car but just too heavy to be a truly special fun car. Then WFH became a thing and I didn't need a commuter anymore. I found myself taking the 30AE Miata key almost all the time and it just didn't make sense to keep it anymore. So I sold it and replaced it with a 981 CS. I have a feeling Thomas has an inbounding Porsche. P.S. BMW's subpar manual was the reason I spec'ed mine with DSG despite I love manual.

My latest problem is I like having cooled seats AND a sedan/coupe driving experience. So I need to get over that to one day own a C6 or some 60s muscle (something you look back at when you park) which has always been my goal. To each their own and no shame in that.

I do wonder about a throttle controller solving that. But I've been trying to just get used to it...I'm so paranoid about making any changes to it, call it ignorance.

Great discussion…and I can relate. My OG M2 (also in fetching Long Beach Blue) just had its 8th birthday, and the Little Beast still makes me smile. The only thing I really don’t like is the lack of Apple Car Play, which has spoiled me in my daily work car. Wanting a new manual car before they all go away, I considered an Emira, a CT4 BW, and of course a G87 M2. But I was thrilled to get an allocation and take delivery of a Cayman GTS 4.0, which I absolutely love. However, unlike Thomas, I’m keeping my M2. Because it still makes me smile (and I don’t have a mystery car on the way). Great work guys; happy Subscriber here!

I really hope you get the Emira. I have both the Emira FE6spd and M2CS PDK with CCB. They are an incredible pair that overlap but not too much. Both can do canyons, mountains , track. Emira looks more exotic, definitely more visceral but M2CS has the practicality and epic engine. Get the Emira.
@TomAce794 ай бұрын
Hope so, too. I also own the OG M2 N55 pre-LCI with minor mods and the Emira. My intention back in 2016 was to become a better driver, therfore a RWD car, hence the M2 as a daily driver. And still, with two kids now it makes a good daily, if you can live with some niggles. But every once a while you can enjoy this little pocket rocket and send it, on a daily basis. This is why the M2 is so special in my eyes. The Emira though is an event, it's for the special moments, for the road trips and the track. The canyon carver, the reason why get up early on a Sunday morning. It's inspiring and driving it in comparison to the M2 shows the difference between a sporty daily driver and a true sportscar. It's so much more special. Verdict: Get the Emira and keep the M2. ;)
