The $250 “Non-refundable Order Fee” is a FEE that you NEVER EVER get back, even after buying the car. You will see it minused out on the final invoice because you paid it up front-Standard accounting. It is NOT minused out and returned to you. FYI so nobody is misled. He was not exactly clear but it sounds like he actually significantly profited from this deal. He would now have two $7500 tax credits to claim this year. So Even if he paid around 43K the first time...and now he got a brand new car if really almost strait up traded he would have gotten 15K in tax credits. You don't have to own the car for any amount of time and there is no limit on the $7500 tax credit only the used credits.

I did the exact same thing with Model 3 in Germany. For over 2 years the government paid a €6,000 grant to owners of new EVs and the only requirement was to keep the car registered for 6 months. Since other countries in Europe don´t have any grant for new EVs and have higher sales tax on new cars, but no sales tax on privately imported cars, the price difference between the countries were significant. I remember that my first Model 3 was €47,170 including the €6,000 grant and the same Model 3 was roughly €60,000 in Denmark. I was able to sell it to a dealership specialized in exports to Denmark 6 months later for €50,000 and bought the same car again. Unfortunately that whole market doesn´t work like this anymore. The minimum registration period in Germany changed to 12 months, the grant was cut to €4,500 and Teslas price cuts on new cars were stronger in Denmark than in Germany.

Talk about “first world problems”. Dave was complaining the other day about it taking a month or two to get her new Tesla to replace the Genesis they had only owned for a short while. 2 months is a short time to wait for a new car nowadays so it came off as complaining about nothing, making a 1 1/2 hour video about that nothing. It’s nice that these KZbinr people have sufficient KZbin ad revenue coming in to allow them to buy a new car every few weeks, replacing some for only small panel gap “problems” which 99.9999% people of people couldn’t care less about. The videos are fun to watch and it is interesting watch rich people do what they do, but it is a bit silly at times. He is fussing about whether or not he is going to keep his $100,000 Lucid that he has only owned for a few months, another first-world rich people problem, good grief. I think there is a car ownership support group somewhere looking for a new member! LOL

I have already been put off by some of the KZbinr Jeeper off-roading channels such as Casey250, which initially was about doing some mods to your Jeep and then enjoying time out with your buddies to see how well they work. Now they are all about trashing the entire Jeep except the body/frame when you get it and putting an entirely new suspension and drivetrain in with supercharged 1000 hp Hemi “Demonators” in builds that no real-world person could afford to do. Of course they get all those upgrades for free but they get really testy when you ask how much those upgrades cost or how much of them they got for free in exchange for video mentions, etc. Millions in KZbin ad revenue pays for all that, just like they do when Kyle or Dave or Brandon or whoever trades cars every 2 weeks. @@Superman-xr1oh

I’m 75. I hardly ever look at the center display in my MYLR except for my current speed which is a font on the top left. I control almost everything with voice…I don’t like messing with touchscreens, buttons or dials when I am driving. There are several areas where my Tesla disappoints, but it is far ahead of everything else I tried or owned.

Got Model 3 LR 2023 earlier this year after like 10 years with my 2013 accord. Been kinda wishing now i also checked the model Y just for the room. Anyways. congrats on the new (upgraded) ride! Excited to see what project highland brings. Tesla right now is like in a weird spot with their cars. HW4 is more like a 3.5. Lots of room to improve. Clearer cameras is not enough. We need MORE cameras for 360 view, new CPU, RADAR, more improvements/upgrades to the cabin (rumored cooled seats is a good start).

Things have changed for the Model 3 LFP on the used car market... Hertz selling them for 20-28K depending on mileage.

As I understand the LFP battery pack, you need to charge it to 100% to allow the pack to have a reference point to allow it to keep track of its charge level. They don’t have a linear discharge graph line. It’s apparently more of a multiple curve shape. It’s not that they can take 100% charging better or longer but they need to get to that predictable reference point. Let me know if you think I’m wrong. This EV journey is fascinating and we’re all learning new things.

The difference between lfp and lithium ion like 18650 is with a 18650 you can have good idea of the charge capacity by reading the voltage but with lfp it would not be accurate at all the same voltage could mean you have 40% or 80% That's why the lfp has to be fully charged ones a while to reset the capacity as it has to messure the current that's been used and not just the voltage But most people say you can always fully charge lfp battery it's correct but it's the same with the 18650 it will deflate faster but here comes the big advantage from lfp Lfp batteries usually have a cycle ife of 3000 it means you can fully charge and deplete your battery 3000 times but if you only charge it 80 to 90% and discharge it to 10 or 20% you might get 5000 cycles or more out of the battery Now in comparison to a 18650 it has about 500 to 800 cycles on full charges But if you charge it only to 80 and discharge to 20% or 30% you might get 1000 cycles or more

LFP have been around for a long time. The ebike guys were building ebike packs out of lfp bricks--they held up well (i had some) and i'm were charged to 100% often.

Destination fee is $1390, not 13 hundred and Order Fee is $250 and you do not get that back. So any new car has $1640 on top of the MSRP plus sales tax (if applicable). Could you please be more specific on the math of getting a brand new car after 6 months for nothing, I am really curious at this point...

Just came back home from up at Strawberry Hwy 50 in the Sierras 59 miles down hill. Car thought it drove 17 miles to get home. Interestingly uphill 59 miles to the mountain cabin it used 90miles. So reality about uphill and cold temperatures real. Assuming the 10600 $ depreciation (his original purchase price minus the trade-in value) was all offset by all the available tax credits, his 6000 miles cost him the new order fee (250) plus the destination charge (1390) plus the difference b/w the new inventory (discounted) M3 and the trade-in value (approx. $6000 plus tax), i.e. each mile on the old car was repurchased for about $1.30 something.....without the actual numbers, this is my version of the math

I don’t understand why Tesla accepted this deal because all of their profit is negated by loss on 6,000 mi used car. Maybe moving new car inventory is more important than overall profit. To break even, Tesla will have to enhance Oreo with advanced autopilot ($6K) or FSD ($15K) at no cost to them.

I'm going crazy because I'm so close to being able to afford a basic Model 3 and the 3 months free supercharging is so tempting. I'm sitting in an old 2015 Nissan Leaf S and boy would it be a huge upgrade. Problem is I'd have to take out a loan of some sort to afford the down payment. I'd be absolutely insane for doing it, but man would it improve my life. I wish someone were willing to just buy my old Leaf outright so I could, but I've got 4 days, so realistically not happening. (Also, I'm sadly just basic working class and not making enough to take advantage of the tax credits. My state does give $7,500 rebate however, so it'd be nearly $30k for one of their discounted demo cars off the local lot.) Love the names for your cars so much. Really clever, Dave! I might have to steal OREO Speedwagon if I don't think of one and I get a white one.

I wonder if you considered that the IRS rebate is only good for 2 cars per married couple? Maybe you can get a additional car rebate by having the third car registered to a company? Yet most of the people I know do not pay over $15,000 a year in tax to the IRS. I guess I only know poor people who make less than $60,000 a year.

But the fit and finish of the new one is even worse on my mobile phone. Have you checked the car ? And the park sensors and parking is also gone I bet which had worked fine before but since then never again. Here all are complaining about the terrible parking performance. We got rid of our telsa last year after the minimum time we had to drive it due to grants.

Dave quick maths???? 1st model 3 about 44 k with fees Trade in 12k less at 32 ish New car 38 plus fres etc Thats at least 5k to 6k you had to pay ? You said zero cost to change right? Yes get you will get 15k if u wualify and another 7.5k for cathy and her model y but forget the y a second and somebmay not qualify for tax credits based on income etc. Did you pay around 5k to change but you offsetting tax credits next year in your math.

I collected my new Model X on Saturday. Fantastic car with lots of new features not on my Model 3 or Model Y. But one thing with every new Tesla I have owned are the problems. The X had no connectivity. It was all fixed by Sunday, but there was the adventure of driving home with a black screen on Saturday. Now that everything is working I really love the car. The three years of free supercharging will kick in during July. I am always impressed by the quality of the Tesla staff. They are great people. I hope your new car doesn't have any new Tesla problems. I've learned to expect them and get past them. So far I have experienced nothing that can't be fixed.
