I messed up SORRY! I ran a mod that allows you to delete 'undeletable divisions' and unknown to me this mod also allows editing of irregular division templates. So I assumed in vanilla you could do that too. My intend wasn't to deceive you, I'm really sorry. This showcases how good the low width infantry divisions can be, generally. They can put even more work in with more support companies too. There's a nasty trick you can do with mass assault to break even tougher lines than you had vs soviets here: attack from one direction, THEN attack from others to make use of mass mob's incredible reinforce rate. Any time the AI reinforces, cancel the extra attacks and restart them. Doing this, you can reliably use more width than the enemy. With enough crap in support companies doing soft attacks (arty, rocket arty etc), the fact that you're using more width than the enemy starts to matter a lot. The battleplanner is really bad about fighting at full width, and as a result mass assault is the best doctrine for the convenience of using it!

TO summaries it: you get 2 army worth of units (48 divisions), and they're all expendable. The only down side is when you expand the division templates through decisions and focuses, they still require equipment. But yeah, they're good cannon fodders if you don't want to invest into holding Ethiopia. Just having them stacked up at the boarder with UK territories draws enough troops away from Egypt to allow you to have a go at the Suez.

Couple of issues with this video if it's a true vanilla hoi4 game. Claims irregular only yet the template has two normal infantry battalions in a template that shouldn't ever be able to be edited let alone train like normal units because normally you have to click a decision that spawns them every 365 days. He also loses the war in Ethiopia which you shouldn't do if using irregulars because the amount you can spawn in with the decision is based on the amount of African states you own and it also spawns cavalry and camelry which are noticeably absent. He also had no idea about the focuses that gives combat buffs to your irregulars along with a general that synergies with them or even about the decision that upgrades their templates to have more irregular battalions and cav recon so I was very surprised when he didn't produce any support equipment at the beginning of the game for a "irregular only" game. The only unit you could actually train normally was the militia unit and he didn't even build any. I get the wacky tactics get the clicks and the views but at least be honest about it because this video gives the assumption that anyone can do this in base game. It really sucks because I've actually tried using these units ingame that unfortunately just can't compare to mid game or even decent early game templates that the AI can make but that's just mainly due to the fact Paradox can't make a decent template for a unit that can't be edited.

Irregular infanteh is good to stack with superior firepower support company side, because you can have small width units with support artillery that then get the bonus attack damage into terrain types, makes them OP!

Cool video mate :) I have a question/need help I'm making three different types of Medium tanks, one fast, one slow, a TD, but when I'm producing them, the "required for reinforcement" number is the same, it doesn't differentiate between types, it makes it hard for me to adjust how many factories I need for each type of tank so I don't over/under produce one type, I've clicked on Med tanks in the logistics tab but that doesn't really help, is there a more detailed way to get the info?

I keep on using irregular in kaiserredux left kuomintang whil i fight fengtian, I just can't fuckin win, it's taking years for me to do any signiffigant progress. Note: I already did win, but I won at 1944 the start when europe began crumbling under russian+japan might (russia as a social democracy joined facist japan, I don't know why). Anyways because of that I can''t progress my focus tree, as I need to capitulate japan to continue my endgame focuses, I hate hoi4 jank.
