Same experience here! Got rejected from a typical British uni for marine biology and instead went to a tiny, rural university based at a marine science institute and it was the best thing that could have happened to me! Non traditional university experiences can be fantastic!

I rejected my DREAM university to go to somewhere not as prestigious and do a completely different degree, 4 years later im about to start a PhD at the same uni (alongside meeting the love of my life!!). sometimes life has funny ways of giving you what you need, not what you think you want. @@rosie8094 I ended up going to a uni closer to home (I'm an international student), didn't quite like the uni but managed to focus on what I liked (I did a double major in biology and english literature!) and decided to apply to oxbridge for postgrad again and here I am;)

I actually got accepted into the uni I wanted, but the best thing I did was visiting it with an open mind and OH DEAR was it eye-opening. While I could have hours-long conversations with professors in my now uni, the "dream uni" had NO ONE to see me, just students doing tours, answering questions, and handling paperwork. I had to physically come into the advisor's office to speak to them. Needless to say, smaller institutions are almost always better at caring about their students.

aww I got rejected by uni in 2020 and I re-applied to the same uni a year later and got in after doing a foundation year in another uni I did not love but now I just finished my 2nd year and im studying in Taipei in September I can't wait!! even thought I should technically of had my graduation yesterday but life is much better now

i know secondary school isn’t the same as uni, but man i felt this. i got straight As in my final primary school exam back in 2018 which determines the potential secondary schools i could go to, didn’t hear back from my dream school and i felt crushed. ended up going to a good enough school. eventually i got an answer back from my dream school, but out of pettiness, my thirteen year old self rejected it lol. now it’s my final year of secondary, i’m the top student in my batch of about 370 students, and i’ll be leaving in a few months with a heavy heart thinking of all the amazing times i had here in this school. i know it’s not even college, just secondary school, but i just felt like sharing. hope my uni days turn out okay!

Honestly, an undergraduate degree in a different university isn't the end of your dream to attend your Dream University. There are higher qualifications to achieve still. A master's or a PHD could still be on the table. I find it is much easier once you've proven your worth as a student.

Could relate. I was rejected by my dream uni, just for me to go to a university where it surrounded by mountain, hills and waterfall which becomes my favourite hangout places. Wouldnt need AC because not even hot, 4 year living dorm with wifi without needing to compete. I realised I clearly written in a letter of manifestation to get access to dorm for whole semester and far away place wih cheaper fees and place to get good friends.😅

Applied cuz why not. My original plan was to retake and take extra classes to bettter my grades and hopefully start uni in 2026. Just yesterday I logged in and saw I got accepted to my first choice💕 my real first choice is the most popular in the country, also my hometown lol, and I’m not getting in even if I get A+ in the classes I would have taken lol but managed to cut down my plan with 2 years and between 25-70k nok💕 plus I get the chance to see northern lights more often lol
