Quick recap of what actually happens in the game at the point this video ends: 1. Raiden gets a job to bodyguard a president. A group called Desperado attacks, kills the president, and its member Jetstream Sam almost kills Raiden. 2. Raiden gets a new body and is sent to stop another Desperado attack where he destroys a robot dog who had no choice but to fight, otherwise it would die on the spot. Later, Raiden kills Mistral (multi-arm girl). 3. Using the information he gathered, Raiden heads to Mexico to investigate a Desperado facility. He's accompanied by the rebuilt robot dog. On this mission, Raiden discovers Desperado is using orphans' brains to pilot various military robots. Also, he discovers that Desperado is led by a US Senator. Which is why... 4. Raiden heads to Denver and is attacked by the city's/Senator's private military/police. Eventually, Jetstream Sam uses billboards to talk to Raiden and tells him "Hey, btw! We're not just using orphans. You know all those guys you've been killing since the beginning? Yeah, they've all been brainwashed by our technology. This technology could be turned off at any moment and they'd all probably stop fighting because they're terrified of death. Here, I'll let you listen to their repressed thoughts because that's a thing I can do for some reason". Raiden kinda has a massive crisis and Monsoon (self-bisection guy) mocks him. Raiden says "Yeah, alright. I'm a monster. That sucks... for you!" Monsoon dies. End of Part 1.

If I'm remembering correctly, leaving just the brain causes them to be mentally trapped in eternal darkness, with no other senses available either. This knowledge came from a medical horror/mystery story I read where they used that setup, with the eyes, to create a better medical diagnosis "computer".

So basically, Revengeance takes place after Metal Gear Solid 4... The global economy was fueled by war on every front and soldiers have nanomachines that functioned as an identification card and basically control the war based off interest groups... Then a foxy grandpa took over those nanomachines and controlled every war to his whim, so it took another foxy grandpa with a bandana (Solid Snake) to stop him before the world goes into chaos. (This is only the super abridged version and I'm leaving out a lot of other details that I can't explain without it spoiling the other 3 games prior.) So now we get to Revengeance, and an organization wants to go back on that war economy [more specifically the U.S.] and so they're using social media, giant robots piloted by the brains of orphans from 3rd world countries, and MEMES to control the war on their whim... All the while Raiden is questioning if he's doing this for the sake of justice and helping the innocent (Cringe) or if he's just as bloodthirsty as the warmongers he's fighting (Based).... And the answer is *[YES.]*

The parry mechanic in this game is extremely forgiving, you can just spam it. On normal difficulty it's not meant to be a hard game, just a fun power fantasy.

Jack/Raiden is a mostly cybernetic character raised to be a killer, given hope and ideas to reform by a legendary soldier. Raiden is the name he had accepted toward his dreams of being part of reform, and to ebrace his sword only as a tool of justice. Raiden was born during a thunderstorm and thought himself as the rain, but the soldier told him he was the lightning, the rain transformed. In this game Raiden encounters many turning to the path he almost fell down to, aiming to correct them and face his inner demons. The "cringe inhibitors" in game was actually his "pain inhibitors". Normally his pain senses are turned off for performance, but he wanted to feel pain for fighting these specific cruel people.

Let me tell you about Metal Gear, Raiden (the protagonist of MGR) first appearance was in Metal Gear Solid 2, he wasn't a cyborg ninja back then, he used to be Solid Snake replacement after the prologue, the community got upset of that and they didn't liked him which they were harassing Kojima for it, he made MGS3 as an apology and decided to add a homo doppelganger of Raiden in the game to let the haters get it out of their systems, there was also another version of MGS3 called Subsistence that was only on the PS2 where there's a clip where the actual Raiden gets humiliated when he tries to kill Naked Snake, Kojima had enough of humiliating Raiden and made him a Cyborg Ninja in MGS4 to make him likable. And that giant machine in the tutorial bit is Metal Gear Ray, Raiden did fought one of those in MGS2. Fun Fact: in the Japanese version of Rising, there's a DLC of a spirit sword which it turns out to be Solid Snake 23:39 it is his actual hair, it used to be long and not spiky, in MGS2, Emma will be talking about how weird his hair is while escorting her if you aim a Microphone gun at her when helping her escape

Damn, one hell of a first impression for Metal Gear. I should say that while the mainline Metal Gear games can get pretty crazy, Rising is at least 20% to 30% crazier than that, so don't feel too intimidated to check out the other games.

So this is coming from someone who has beaten the game on HaRevtwice and still trying to beat it on Revengeance mode. Metal Gear Ray isn't hard. You can block as early as you want and you'll get the same affect. Sam? It's a losing fight. Blade wolf? He's not that hard when you realize how easy parrying is. Mistral? Make sure you pay attention to her and her Minions so they don't piss you off. Harambee? Once you actually parry more often they become a enemy you want to see more. Monsoon? If you didn't perfect Parrying then yes. His fight is a struggle ESPECUALLY his clone fight. His actual fight you at least have health cells. In his cline fight you either learn how to parry or your never beating the game. Sundowner? You have the Funnular entertainment way featuring Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. OR you can wait for him to present and have fun with the music that'll be blasting in your ears in the 2nd phase. Sam again? You either parry or you're dead. Metal Gear Excel? He's pretty easy. The last boss? Have fun

I love the Metal Gear franchise. It is one of the greatest works of media ever made. I love Metal Gear Rising to death, but it is not a good Metal Gear game narrative-wise. Metal Gear Rising is pretty decent as a stand-alone. The gameplay's super fun. As a continuation of Raiden's story, it takes the development his character, takes it out back, and puts it down like old yeller. It takes the nuanced character coping with his trauma and replaces him with Edgy McEdgyson. Oh no, the people I fight are people, the darkness within is manifesting itself, time for an evil laugh. This is the same character who put down the sword to be with his wife and son after his fight was finally over. Went and picked it right back up a year later with no explanation or even a passing comment.

To put VERY simply for part 1: the president at the beginning was going to a meeting to initiate a deal for peace and the bad guys don’t want that since they see the war economy as a profitable ideal-as well as having an excuse to indulge in their sick desires of violence. Raiden is sent into different parts of the world in order to find the masterminds behind the organization which leads him to find out that orphans are being kidnapped and having their brains put into robots to sell as military weapons. At the end of the video the bad guys reveal that they plan to control public views via “memes” because most people today don’t know that the real definition of memes is to implant an idea to others so that they too spread that idea. Oh boy. Alright here's a crash course. Its the mid 2010's. Warfare has evolved to the point its become a business. There's a shadow society type group called the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo (The Patriots) who are controlling the world and its economy through AIs and nanomachines. Raiden (protagonist of MGS2 Sons of Liberty) teams up with Snake (Series protagonist) to put a stop to them. Revengeance takes place after that, Raiden is now part of a PMC group called Maverick, Jacked Bezos (Sundowner) is part of a rival PMC group called Desperados. They're running around destabilizing conflict zones (through proxies) in order to cause a demand for mercenaries and therefore mantain the war economy.
