The prisoner in Percy's cell is indeed modeled after Taliesin Jaffe, his VA. Taliesin is a goth who's big into occult stuff, and there's a running joke that he's secretly an immortal being from the dawn of time, which is probably why his show counterpart is a cult leader with a triangle carved into his arm who Percy refers to as "the raving mystic".

Pike singing,and your praise of Laura's voice acting reminded me of a game you might find interesting. It's a musical story game - no combat, just selecting dialog prompts and choices - only the dialog that you are selecting are lines in a song. It's called Stray Gods, and stars a ton of people you've heard or heard of, many from this show: Laura (Vex), and Ashley (Pike), as well as Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Zahra), Troy Baker (the twins' father), Felicia Day (the one that created Geek & Sundry and brought Critical Role on as a show), Anjali Bhimani (the voice of the leader in Vasselheim in episode 2 of season 2), Khari Payton (Sovereign Uriel), Anthony Rapp (from Star Trek: Discovery, as well as the original production of Rent on Broadway), and a few others. I highly recommend it.

I feel like there’s a lot that could be made of Syldor respecting Vex’s title… Recognition of her accomplishment with the bow, as promised. Knowing it was a gift from a loved one lost. Maybe a tiny seed of pride and reconciliation with the daughter he spurned as a reminder of old pains. Syldor Vessar was a grade A ass, but there’s a potential to be had of a wounded family mending in the word ‘Lady’. Just maybe the future he hopes for looks a little different than it did before Vex forced the truth out of him. I’m glad you picked that up, Mosco. Soooo idk if Rhiasan actually sold them out or not. Thordak is smart and paranoid. That’s a highly dangerous combination. He would’ve been prepping for this. And an army of that size would’ve been hard to hide so it’s not out of the question that they were spotted. With his paranoia and rage, if Rhiasan had mentioned that she was a double agent I feel he would’ve killed her.

The Herd of the Storm is still rebuilding after fighting Umbrasyl. I don't think they'd be up for another dragon fight. The story at this point has really diverged from the campaign, so no one is "rolling really high" anymore, which is why it's such a wild ride for even us critters.

@liamgradwell2998Ай бұрын
The one thing I can tell you about Critical Role, Mosco, is that any type of feelings aren’t into play with these campaigns. If you ever play DnD with Matt Mercer, you’ll know just how he got his reputation as The Dungeon Master. Your characters’ rolls will need to be absolutely fucking lucky.
@TenebrousFilmsАй бұрын
They've been downplaying resurrection from the start. I'm wondering just how they're going to handle Percy... It would take too long to find Grog's former herd, now they've returned to their nomadic ways. As for Syldor... why do you think he removed the twins from Byroden before Thordak attacked? They are his blood, however polluted. Their mother, however, he left to burn. There was never a relationship there, and he never softened like this. VM got Syngorn's support by talking to the city's leader, not him. They've been tweaking things to minimize extra characters, while maximizing the drama. I have to admit, it's working.

@speculativemusings3593Ай бұрын
I’m guessing the reason they couldn’t bring him back was because his soul wasn’t available for resurrection. Ripley killed him with a gun that was cursed by Ornithax, which likely means Ornithax has his soul. We’ll probably get him back after dealing with Ol’ Smokey.
@AnthAnath8641Ай бұрын
I love the thinking, and not at all saying you’re wrong, but I thought it was more them not having access to that kind of high level magic. When they tried resurrecting Vex in S2, Pike told Kash she’d never done it before, and with Kash dead, they really don’t know anyone who can do that sort of divine magic. I think it’s another step away from the campaign where in typical D&D fashion, resurrecting someone can end up being pretty easy. This seems like it’s making their efforts more impactful. Same with they’re not just learning spells out of nowhere as they level up, they have to find magic items like Scanlan’s key.
@speculativemusings3593Ай бұрын
@@AnthAnath8641 They’re definitely changing things around to fit better, narratively. There’s already been a few times where a death has been reflavored to unconsciousness, just because of how easily it was undone in the original campaign (I like behind the scenes stuff). I’m mostly comparing this to what happened with Vex, and how outside forces interfered with the resurrection spell. That just seems to be the best explanation to me at the moment.
@cherushimetsumariАй бұрын
I'm thinking the same thing, since this is NOT what happened in the original campaign. I'm very interested in what's going to happen.
@eastersliceАй бұрын
@@speculativemusings3593 Yes. I think decisions had to be made in order to keep death terrible in the animated series. If they could resurrect all the deaths, then it would become meaningless. At least in the campaign, there was a possibility of failure when trying to resurrect a character, but it's hard to replicate that when the outcome does not depend on the roll of a dice. So far in the series, they have only killed someone when it would have the most impact. I suspect that that will continue to be the case moving forward.

Well, my guess is they will have to make some exchange or offering. I am simply hoping they are for a more meaningful story.

Percy's death is a reminder of a lesson I first learned from Batman: Never compromise the mission, and only show mercy to those who deserve it. Edit: 1. Scanlan compromised the mission by diverting to see his daughter. Didn’t go well and any help he could've provided to Whitestone or the group against Ripley was lost. 2. Percy diverted from the mission in a personal vendetta against Ripley, then he backed out by showing mercy, which cost him his life. 5:43 The Matron of Ravens was there to remind Vax of that lesson and his purpose.
