@@user-mb9np6sh7u Man... Like imagine a world where like chess was all physical and tangible and not first invented on the computer in 2005. Where you could like actually touch the peices with your hands and there wouldn't be like a few lines of code telling me that I was in check and what moves were legal and what not. You would be able to flip the chess board in fustration and peices will like fly... fwhoosh through the air. Very much many carthatic. Whoa how crazy that would be... In all seriousness don't forget that chess isn't a digital only game. It was a physical game with physical boards that didn't show movement and without special sounds. Now I wish I made a 'Back in my day' joke but meh. I'm not ancient enough for that.

@@oyungogdfrust4136 Why is it illegal to make a move that puts you in check? By that logic, making a move that puts you in stalemate should also be illegal. It's dumb. If someone wants to make a dumb move and instantly lose, let them. The central conceit of the game is to try to kill the enemy king. Checkmating is victory because it is guaranteed that they will die next turn. A stalemate guarantees they will die in two turns. What's the difference?
@a_wild_Kirillian
@a_wild_Kirillian 2 жыл бұрын
@@ENCHANTMEN_, you can't make a move that puts you in a stalemate. Only your opponent can. So yeah, you're also not allowed to make a move that puts your king in mate (that's not a check because your king would be taken no matter what on the opponent's move which you just passed to him), what a stupid rule =_=
@a_wild_Kirillian
@a_wild_Kirillian 2 жыл бұрын
@@ENCHANTMEN_, and stalemate is a draw because chess is a turn based game. If you are in a stalemate you can't make a move. If you can't make a move then opponent's next move would never happen. Rules don't care if it's mate or not. It won't happen because that's how the game works at it's basis. Moves must alternate.
