Want a life hack that I recently discovered that immensely helps with my procrastination? If I have work or study to do for a video, and I'm not motivated and just start procrastinating (again), I watch a video or listen to a podcast of the topic on KZbin. It helps to get my brain focused on the subject before I get started on my own critical thinking. That way I'm not going from 0 to 100 whenever I'm opening up my editing software. A really great channel that helps with this is "This Guy Edits" Specifically his video called "The 7 Laws of Film Making" with his interview with Vashi Nedomansky. I would also highly recommend picking up the book Deep Work by Cal Newport. Truly mind-opening stuff I never would of dreamed of thinking of which highly boosted up my concentration & motivation skills! Best of luck Vertiigo! ~ Pilps

I know this feeling all too well... Best advice I can give is do the stuff you really need to do BEFORE doing the stuff you only want to do. Having no structure and being your own boss and setting your own schedule is not as great as it sounds sometimes. Maybe try designating work hours every day where you get dressed and work on something productive. Maybe aim for 3 hours a day to start or something similar. I found that I have a whole lot more energy and motivation to do/complete the tasks that I put off if I start at them earlier in the day. The longer I wait in the day to start something the less energy I seem to have to actually do it. There is no magic button unfortunately and forcing yourself to start early even when you do not want to seems to be key. Good luck buddy, Enjoyed your content for many many years now, hope you can get out of this slump.

Been a fan of yours for a lot of years Vertz. I can relate to you in the closest way possible in saying i am facing the same problem, word for word. What i can conclude my lack of motivation to is, losing my original mojo. I started off making videos to make people happy and share rare moments but after 6 years, its not enough. I find myself with footage left over, get editing and just end up closing vegas. There's no fix that i've been able to compose, all i can say is you have a supportive fan base and you're not alone. Cheers Vertz, be good.

In my experience, it's natural to have periods of creative downtime. They vary wildly, from a day to months and that's a normal part of the process (one of my Instagram projects has been on hiatus for 2 years now). The issue is we feel extremely guilty when this happens because we have the feeling that it's in our control and we should just fes up and get to work but that's not how it works. Better to let your juices gather than to force yourself to put out things that you are not pleased with. The funny thing is, once you let go of your guilt and relax, creativity and inspiration will start flowing.

Man, you are burning yourself out. It happens to the best of us. Doing the same stuff day after day after day after week after month will just crush you. You have to take a step back and find a way to excite yourself about your work. Ask yourself what you can do to challenge yourself. What gets your creative juices bubbling? I have been here for years and I have to say a lot of your videos have the same cuts and format. Try new stuff. Try new things. Find a process that works for you. You are the first person your work has to engage. If people don't like it, then they may move on, but others will fill up their space. People will always be here. Some old, some new. Don't worry about that. Experiment with your content to find what gets you excited and motivated again. Trust me, when you are excited about what you are doing, we WILL pick up on that energy. For any creator on any platform, being into what you are doing makes us excited to see what you make. So take a break. Take a hundred breaks. Try new things. Try new content, new edits and cuts and formats. I would rather see you putting out a few good videos per month that you are hyped about rather than just a few mediocre videos per week. Watching that kind of content is like watching someones soul slowly get crushed. You are good at what you do. You have been doing this a long time. No matter what you decide, we will still be here.

Dude I have never watched you but I seen this the fact that you even upload at all is motivating for me. I have had the same thing for about a year now I stream I put it into editor and cant do it I've been going through some very depressional states of my life... and have so many different activities in my life like school chores and shit like that I see this was made a few days ago but we should totally stream together sometime maybe we can help each other since I have been wanting to do 7 days to die content more. huge motivation for me from this. But trust me there's a lot of us you can relate to and ppl will of the most of the time not criticize you and if they do they just don't understand. Work on yourself and find that drive. trust me when I say you don't want to fall into what I have I'm to the point where I have lost perception of time and cant tell the difference between real life and dreaming from the depression an insomnia. peace and love my man.

Sounds a bit like writer's block, a formidable problem. In this case it's a somewhat different form, but similar principles. I sometimes help students work with this, usually by encouraging a shorter format. Maybe a music video using your favorite game set to a favorite song, a short skit (30 seconds, max)? Different methods work with different people; you don't want to burn out something you love, so taking your time is a good idea. Talking about perceived failure is hard. Keep up the great work (off screen too), and best of luck!

This is how i felt with gaming in general... when you're younger you can't wait to play any game, even if it's shit... It's like the memories of time past are the only motivators to play them today
