We recently purchased 10 feeder pigs. After training them to electric fence, we set them out to clear one acre of forest in a paddock shift system.

Fun to see what you're doin with the feeders. Hubby n I just got 5 feeders. It's the second year of it for us. Last year's pigs helped us decide where to dig ponds and clear paths. They tasted great! We butchered them at different sizes. We're getting better at it all. Thanks for info and inspiration!

That meat will come in handy for many people. My wife and I went out to dinner one night, this was pre pandemic even, and sold 9 halves of beef. The place was a tavern style place (great wings) and as other people over heard us talking to people, they lined up with questions and made orders.

I like to set up the pigs shelter in the middle of the area divided into four quarter acre paddocks. I like to set up a food and water station near their shelter so there is a central area they go to for food, water and shelter. With the rotational system you will be using you can use the electric fence to divide each area into smaller units to get your time on and off area like you want.

So exciting to see you start the boys in the pigs. My father bought pigs for my brothers under the farm where we already had dairy cattle and beef cattle and I always love the baby pigs and it’s amazing to watch them grow they are entirely different from cattle as is their care!! I was amazed how you calculated the 12 different paddocks within an acre for the pigs as well as intrigued by the stretchy electrical “wire” fencing you can move around anywhere to train the pigs by and they’ll stay in. I don’t know how long that worse before they get too big for it but nonetheless amazing. Your boys really support you in every way including the little guy go on along for the ride on your back. He seems most content as you were straight out the day I. Enjoying your channel and your family😊♥️♥️🌈♥️♥️

I’d consider seeding mushrooms too in the forest. You can add turkey tail, morels n many others . Since it takes time to establish, the pigs activity will help them. Also train them to a call, unique to treats n food. It will make them come running when they hear the call. Makes herding so much easier. ‘Y dad (born 1915 ) do it with free range cattle, horses, pigs & even poultry!
