The thing I love about Eminem is how raw& blunt he is. As someone who also had a messed up childhood I can relate. I love telling people just the bare truth of my childhood & observing the reaction. If you explain an abusive parent who was so bad at understanding the assignment a judge took their parental rights away by telling the survivor "You shouldn't talk that way about your mom" I got no respect for you. Why the fuck can't I state the simple facts!? How is it disrespectful for me to literally say what's on public record accurately but it was fine for her to neglect me!? Yeah, I respect Eminem. I was 14 when “My Name is” came out. I was cleaning my room, and I tuned my tv to MTV. In the 90’s MTV actually was about music, and not about teen pregnancies etc. I’m making my bed and behind me I suddenly hear a weird sounding voice saying: “Hi kids, do you like violence?”. Immediately I was interested to check out wth this was. I’m 42 now and this song never gets old or boring!

The great thing about Em is that each of his lines (especially in his later/more serious songs as Eminem vs Slim Shady) has multiple meanings. For example, in the line, "wanna see me stick nine inch nails through each one of my eyelids?" he was talking about literal nails, AND the famous industrial band Nine Inch Nails. Speaking of which, I recommend listening to the songs, "Closer" and "Head Like A Hole" by them. They were extremely controversial in their time as well. In fact, the unedited video for "Closer" was one of the few videos that was actually BANNED from MTV! There's a great list of banned music videos I can give you from amazing artists if you're interested. ❤
