Just a mini-reminder: The Lestat we saw in New Orleans is the first time we, the audience, are meeting him that isn't being filtered through Louis, Claudia (via her diaries), and Armand. I love how this show plays with memory and unreliable narration.

I'm so confused. What about the scene where we saw Lestat and the Coven rehearsing and Armand directing in ep8 as shown when Daniel is telling Louis Armand wasn't just a witness at the trial? Armand isn't the one telling the story there, so I assumed that was the show telling us exactly what happened, not through one of our unreliable narrators. I assumed that was the real Lestat because of that. If I'm right I think we've "seen" the real Lestat 3 times, once at the rehearsal, in 1973 during that call and finally in New Orleans. Right?

@@AshleySamM Totally possible! It could be the show's way of showing these things. It'll be interesting to see Lestat's version of events as I'm sure it'll expand on/conflict with/negate these moments. I tend to look at the memory of events (the rehearsal and the 1973 call) as open to interpretation and not necessarily "the objective truth" because all of its being framed as part of the interview/Louis telling his life story. Season 2 reworked our perception of what we saw in Season 1. I'm sure Season 3 will do that to Season 1 & 2.

It is implied that Lestat was still feeling the effects of being "killed" by Louis and Claudia so he was not in top shape so easily controlled by Armand and the coven. You can see when he "saved" Louis blood leaking out of his ears. For a powerful vampire being able to only do that..... He had to chose between saving Louis and saving Claudia. It was only watching Claudia die that he realized what he lost.

@@OHALALNOHA Okay, but in theVampire Lestat, Lestat says Akasha"s blood was the only thing that saved him when Claudia (in the book) killed him. He describes how weak he is for a long time after, BUT the show may have a different take. He does not appear as weak as the books made him out to be, but Sam Reid has also mentioned that they seeded a lot of possibilities in the trial sequence. So it really remains to be seen exactly what was going on.

What an ending...this show is simply incredible. That feeling of knowing Daniel was about to drop a bomb and change everything, but not knowing exactly what...Louis and Lestat's beautiful reunion...Daniel is a vampire reveal (and boy is there stuff coming with Daniel that I cannot WAIT to see on screen)...the catharsis of seeing Santiago and the coven destroyed...Louis' "I own the night" to close us out. Just perfect! Soooo excited for Lestat's rockstar era and what his interview will entail. I'm sure the show will do it well, but I'm definitely curious about how much Louis we'll get because these 1st 2 seasons were his POV mostly and he was our main character (and my fave lol). I'm assuming Lestat will take that role next season, but I'm hopeful for his relationship with Louis to still remain prominent.

the way this opened my eyes 👀 it makes so much sense how they could meet on a more even playing field in the present day now that they both can understand each other's perspectives better. I feel like their relationship has a much better chance of success now that louis is more self actualized and now that lestat has been brought more down to earth after what happened to claudia and their attempted murder of him in S1. Obviously I think louis should remain single for a bit because i think it would be good for him after being in two toxic relationships back to back. but I definitely am rooting for loustat endgame 100%

Samuel is actually playwright Samuel Beckett, and a Talamasca spy within the coven. They were kind of discussing Waiting for Godot at one point in the theater -- the play where nothing happens! If you freeze frame the script cover sheet, it says Agent VSB on the top. (Vampire Sam Beckett). Kind of goes along with the cameo by Jean-Paul Sartre in the cafe where Dreamstat was singing.

RE: Lestat's feelings about turning Claudia; in 2x03, it's mentioned that he turned Nicki, and it went badly. Nicki didn't handle vampirism well, and when Claudia was acting out and burning herself in the sun in season 1, it would've reminded Lestat of how Nicki spiralled. So I get why he didn't want Claudia to be turned. Also the second book, The Vampire Lestat, is bookended with the rockstar plot, but it's primarily about Lestat's background, from when he's a human in 18th century rural France and up to the present day. Its pretty dark!

cool little detail about "the suit changes nothing" monologue in the beginning, the flashbacks to lestat are different takes than the ones we saw in season 1. lestat comes off a little more goofy, and a little less suave. as far as the trial, based on what we've seen so far, i think lestat was only there to save louis, and that he didn't necessarily want claudia to die, but when it comes to a choice between her and louis, he will always choose louis. it doesn't excuse his complicity in her death, but i just don't think revenge was his motivation. and there may be other reasons that were outside his control if they stay book accurate for TVL, but we shall have to see 👀

What a fantastic reaction from both of you - and one I can easily relate to! The grief, the perfectly planned revenge, the justification for all those years of miserable companionship with Armand, Daniel pulling the ace from his sleeve and savouring the payback of wrecking Armand's future 'happiness,' Armand making his first fledgling out of spite for being exposed, and the heartbreaking reveal that Lestat was Louis' saviour all along and didn't feel worthy of Louis after all that he'd done, Vamp Molloy being a menace from the outset, and Louis' iconic warning bringing things full circle - it was a masterful piece of storytelling! And the return to their NOLA home, and their emotional reunion, was EVERYTHING I could've wished for! I spent half the episode choked up and the music still has the ability to make me teary-eyed! I've absolutely ADORED your reactions and investment in these characters over the last two seasons, and cannot wait to hear your thoughts on the wild ride that with The Vampire Lestat! Sam Reid said regarding the trial that Lestat doesn't want to be there. In the books Lestat was tortured and Imprisoned. The writers didn't explain it 100% but most likely Lestat was at the trial against his will. Showrunner said that Louis is definitely gonna be in season 3 and will not be shoved into corner. The Vampire Lestat novel is incredible and a better book than Interview, you have no idea what's coming!

@@MrMgage13I was very disappointed. The lead address AD was a miscast for the role. I don’t know how you have a character like Lasher and the show is still meh. There was just something missing besides major characters 👀. It’s a shame because some of the others did a good job. I imagine those books would be difficult to adapt if you don’t have a good grasp of the source material. That show runner and didn’t seem to have the same level of passion as Rolin Jones and the IWTV cast. I continued watching it just to support the Immortal Universe. It was supposedly revamped, so I hope season 2 will be better.

ahh, I've loved watching y'all's journey with the show since S1! Thank you for sharing it! I wanted to point out one thing I think people often miss on first watch, which is that when Louis lights Daniel’s laptop on fire it’s a callback to how he burned the original tapes in the first season. It’s meant to visually indicate that he no longer endorses the story told in the interview, as he’s realized it was built around some fundamental lies and missing information. 
I thought it was a clever visual bookend, but there’s so much going on in those scenes, I rarely see anyone comment on it!

The Vampire Lestat season will be Lestat BEFORE, DURING & AFTER his first time with Louis (and hopefully another reunion) from Lestat's perspective. That should allow Claudia to "return" in the flashback scenes. We should also be getting both Magnus (Lestat's maker) and Akasha (the "Queen of the Damned"). So excited for S3!

I'm glad I stuck with this show. I had issues with the first season, but once I saw how it ended, put into perspective one or more things for me. Loved S2, acting was on point and the story was really good. Absolutely loved Claudia's portrayal, she exceeded my expectations, absolutely killed it. I haven't read the books, but looking forward to seeing Louis being his true self (loved seeing his past self and him bringing that back in the final scene of the show. He was like an empty husk with Armand) and seeing Lestat's real personality and perspective.

Don't forget- Santiago and the coven contacted Lestat in New Orleans and told him they were going to put Claudia and Louis on trial. The only way Lestat could throw a monkey wrench into the proceedings was if he was there - being present allowed Lestat to save Louis.

Lestat didn't come to Paris to kill Claudia. We know at the very least he came to save Louis but we don't know the actual circumstances around him being in Paris. The show did make clear he did not harbor ill will toward Claudia in Paris. Even during the trial he's not nasty to her at all. He never contradicts her accusations at him, never defends himself. He compliments her multiple times, advocates to let her speak and such. And in the glimpse of rehearsal we see him standing up for her too.

watching people's reactions to that Loustat reunion it's priceless. It's like experiencing that scene for the first time again. the thing that hits me the hardest about Louis giving Lestat "death" by choosing Armand is that if Lestat had told him he saved him, Louis still wouldn't have chosen Lestat, but at least he wouldn't have gone with Armand either. After some years, I'm sure he would have gone to look for Lestat and ask for his version of the story, or maybe just to grieve their daughter together. Armand with his lies&manipulation, prevented him from all that for 70+ years.

I loved watching your reaction videos for this show. I will definitely check out your videos for season three The Vampire Lestat when that eventually comes out. I think the Talamasca may have given Sam a heads up that Louis was going to burn down the theater. We know they keep the vampires under surveillance, and they employ people with special abilities, such as psychics. They probably knew Louis was going to burn it down, so they protected their asset. I also think Armand and Louis may have been planning on either killing or turning Daniel after the final interview session. The way they kept saying they had something special for him at the dinner sounded ominous. Raglan James told Daniel that every person who tried to interview them were either dead or undead.

Sam was the Talamasca's inside man to the Paris coven. The Talamasca will have its own show on AMC AMC sadly didn't air the show in the award eligibility timeframe, so there was no award consideration. Which they should be ashamed of, this cast, writers, directors & crew deserved better! 😢

The movie PALES in comparison to the series. It was made too early and is total queer-baiting, which was super common at that time (and still is). The show does the romance justice whereas the film just doesn't.

It's not really Lestat's fault for taking part in the trial. The coven forced him to attend. Remember, Lestat is still recovering from the attempt on his life during Mardi Gras in 1940. He wouldn't have been physically able to help Claudia. The coven stole the lens from the Paris observatory to use to kill her. About the 1994 film, I liked it for what it was at the time. The series, however, is closer to the books even though the story in the series opens in 1910 instead of the late 1700's.

@@ben361971 you don't really need to freshen up. She does her typical thing where she reminds you of everything. I suggest you pick up Prince Lestat . It has the feel of the series in that it picks up in modern day (2014) . Also it reads like QOTD. I am looking forward to going through the books again now that I can read them in the proper voices

Memory is a Monster is basically the motto of the first two seasons. Louis is a highly unreliable narrator so keep in mind that the entire two seasons was from other peopels POVs, not Lestats. We got Louis version of him, and Armands (high school romance hero) version of Lestat... Also the JB reference, there was an April Fools aritcle written back in the day, saying the CW was going to adapt the books and Justin was playing Lestat... (Also the big twist of that show was gonna be making Nicki a girl so essentially turning Lestat straight lmao) Anyway Anne Rice herself tweeted about that back in the day

Great reaction!!! Can't wait for season 3!! Rock Star Lestat is coming!!! They're filming now, so the season should be, I think, premiering in the late summer 2025 but, personally, I think they might release it in the fall so it can run through October and the Halloween season which is very appropriate for a vampire show!! In the meantime we have season 2 of Mayfair Witches, 2nd show of AMCs Anne Rice Immortal Universe, coming early next year and they're already casting for the 3rd show of AMCs Anne Rice Immortal Universe THE TALAMASCA (which you learn more about on Mayfair Witches season 1 and I'm sure we will see more of on Mayfair Witches season 2.).

Notice how Armand hesitated when Louis asked him if he saved him at the trial. Then when Louis asks him if Armand saved him from being buried alive he immediately says yes. Armand is a lying liar who lies. I’m glad my baby Louis is free of him and is starting to heal 🥹 I love him so much ❤ Hopefully we see more of him next season ❤I don’t plan on watching s3 cuz I was only here for Jacob Assad and Delainey. ❤

I think the show is going to pull from the books, thank goodness. The movie was a hot mess (still fun for some) and left so much out because they tried to smush 2 thick AF books together. I will never forgive them for leaving Louis out or giving Lestat black hair. Lestat would be appalled 😂
