A good opinion I heard about Claudia is: Louis was trying to raise a daughter. Lestat was trying to raise a Vampire.

The fact that Armand was the one who broke script when they were tormenting Daniel with his traumatic memory of rejection, then tried to soothe the burn with “she wanted to say yes”. Obviously he still stayed on target of getting Daniel to not question the narrative which was Armand’s idea tbf, but it’s a great moment (that sent book fans WILD) especially because of Assad’s acting as Armand.
@FrankFreezy_6 сағат бұрын
That’s very interesting. As someone who haven’t read the books. I have no idea what to make of it.

@@FrankFreezy_ That’s understandable, Armand is supposed to be mysterious. I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for this season or future seasons by divulging details of the book right now. I’ll just share the fun fact that Jacob Anderson’s *favorite* chapter from the series, like many fans, is one particularly focused on the characters Armand & Daniel. There’s a lot of beloved book material for the show writers to build upon

What I've noticed over multiple viewings is to pay attention to Louis' accent especially in the present day scenes. When he drops the flat affect of the measured, cultured tone THAT'S the real Louis. It comes out when he's vulnerable, angry or feels completely comfortable. The words he speaks in that voice I believe.

What's doubly wild to me about how Armand & Louis treat Daniel this episode in particular, is that Daniel is an INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST. The whole job of an investigative journalist is to not pull their punches, to dig down and ask the tough questions, to question the narrative, to try to get to the truth of a story. Or as close to a truth a story can give. As nebulous a thing as "truth" can when we're talking about a person & their life vs a cut and dry historical event. If Louis wanted a writer who wouldn't question him, he shouldve just hired a biographer. 😂

8 minutes is crazy. I will watch every second. And yes, this show will teach you things. The dynamic between Armand, Louis and Malloy is fascinating. Interesting and valid comparison between how they manipulate and use Daniel's bad memories against him in the same way Lestat did to Claudia. I hadn't thought of that but it's true. And it's unfortunate and disappointing that Louis is not blameless here (regardless of Armand's influence). They are all complicated characters. Love both yours and FoxTaco's reactions. Both thoughtful with some similar interpretations, but you each pick up on different things with some differing perspectives.I can see why you're friends. This season is phenomenal and a wild ride so can't wait for the next one.

Ha, I actually love when louis gets those crazy eyes and becomes a little mean and how he isn't as predictable as one would assume he is at times, like he's not the perfect victim of either lestat or armand and i love him even more for it!

Is there really such a thing? I would even throw Claudia into the mix. After a certain point, you have to choose to either continue to weaponize being a victim OR you choose to be better.

A nice little detail : Armand’s library for Louis is placed where only Armand can access and control it. Lestat’s library for Louis reflected Louis’ interests and was easily accessible in their New Orlean house. Lestat was not particularly interested in reading. He’d only scan the books or read the first few chapters. The books were basically all for Louis.

Definitely agree, and seeing your thoughts form about the coven is so wonderful. That scene between Armand Louis and Daniel is also sooo interesting so I’m glad you spent a chunk of the video talking about it! Like you said, I and many others are so here for the yapping, keep it up!!

I feel like you could be onto something exploring the idea of Armand's Influence on the interview. Louis' behavior definitely changed from night to night once Armand agreed to be on record. But I also appreciate Armand sort of switching up and comforting Daniel by saying Alice had wanted to say yes to the proposal. Armand is so complex and such a mysterious character. Feels very different from the still-complex but more straight forward Lestat. Really loved seeing Dreamstat in a nicer outfit as well, instead of all bloodied like last episode. Sam Reid's reading of the letter was so emotional and well done. 🌻🤎

It strikes me that he’s able to produce Lestat’s card that gave Louis by way of that first introduction, perfectly preserved back in season one. However although Louis declares Armand the love of his life we do not see the card he gave to Louis that night in the park. I wonder did he keep it?

Just that feeling of knowing someone you failed, probably didn't think the absolute worst of you. Of course that would make him cry blood. I'm sure that relieved some of the guilt. what i love about iwtv is how every character is so complex and have so many sides. also i want to point out that when the episodes where dropping there was some discourse in the fandom about when lestat letter was written. the accountant says they were in touch for the party in the end of s1 and by them lestat already knew about the betrayal. some say he wrote the letter to maybe guilty trip and hurt louis if the betrayal went correctly and he died. i believe it was a genuine letter but it's something worth thinking about

TMNT mentioned! I too was disappointed in Louis attacking Malloy. The vampires will talk about human in a very patronizing way, so it was very much punching down to gang up on Daniel like that. But I guess Louis gets called the most “human” of the vampires in this universe so it’s just an example of his vulnerability and fragility in the end. I really love how you bring the nuance to your viewing of this series. 🪻
@moderndaymedusa825 сағат бұрын
Louis definitely has a meanness in his spirit. As soon as he feels vulnerable, he attacks. It's a horrible trait. And I agree, since Malloy isn't human and there's a power imbalance, them invading his memory like that is really messed up.

louis and armand doing that to daniel was in response to the really insensitive jokes he was making; laughing at his vulnerable moments the way he's been laughing at louis's. he's been rude and flippant the whole interview and only gotten bolder as time's gone on, so louis was basically just showing him how it feels. it was mean, yes, but i found it cathartic at the same time lol. yes they invited him here but his job is asking questions and figuring out the truth, not making fun of louis like he's been doing especially in this episode but throughout the whole show too. you can tell louis doesn't find it all that funny. it was a cruel way to make the point but the point did need to be made.

Daniel does have a sharp tongue and pushes a lot. However think about how much more of the story We Know because Daniel pushed. If Daniel had been passive and calm we wouldn't get all we have gotten so far. It would have just been the characters saying the stories how they please without any pushback or requirements for accuracy

@@FrankFreezy_ oh he's a great character and brings a lot to the show, he also just happens to be kind of an ass sometimes. he often does have a point but he rarely makes it in a respectful way, which is of course great from a storytelling perspective because it brings conflict, but sucks for the other characters who have to deal with him. small potatoes to some of the other stuff in the show but still worth mentioning.

(Book spoilers and possible spoilers for future seasons) but seeing people react to Armand and Daniel's relationship when they don't know about Devil's Minion is always interesting to me. I mean, obviously Frank didn't realize the Armand flashbacks were flashbacks and so assumed that was Armand teaming up with Louis to hurt Daniel, but seeing him not understand that Armand was trying to make Daniel feel better by saying that Alice really wanted to say yes (or maybe Armand wanted to say yes, if you believe in the Alice=Armand theory, which I kind of do) is fascinating. I'm excited to see Frank watch episode 5 since that's THE Devil's Minion episode and if he'll pick up on the undertones or not. But I also cannot wait to see show only fans in general as well as Frank and FoxTaco react to Devil's Minion whenever the show adapts it. Also it will always be funny to me that Armand immediately folded like a lawn chair when he saw Daniel actually upset. "This time I won't save your life" my ass lmao

I felt for Lestat in season one, when Claudia left the first time. Louis shut Lestat out as he searched for her, reading maps/articles.
