I'm Stitching a New Needle Book and Attaching Beach Pottery

At last I have made the needle book I've been wanting to make for ages!
I was inspired by my beach finds of the other week and also by watching Katherine on her k3n channel.
This video is part one and shows the inspiration, the fabrics, and the method I have for attaching the beach pottery finds.
All the fabric is from my stash and the thread is from what I call my tangle.
Next week will show how I finish it all off to make a completed needle book.

I've felt since watching your first video that you're some kind of kindred sister on another continent! Now I learn that you've collected blankets to hook a stair runner carpet!! @@marionsworld24 Most of my sea glass is from the Pacific Ocean off the coast of British Columbia. A bit from the Atlantic Ocean off Nova Scotia and a wee bit from the Gulf of Mexico. Beach combing has always been a passion of mine and am always intrigued when I find bits of pottery. Where has it come from? I have found some with Asian maker’s marks which I can imagine an entire history for in my dreams. The most fun bit of pottery I found was a cream coloured piece with FRED spelt out in blue. I was walking with my brother-in-law, Fred. He now has it. Anyways, I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for sharing a bit of Marion’s World with me. Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦

Hello Marion, your needle case is delightful. Funnily enough, I have been thinking about making a new one myself - so now I have no excuses. My favourite needle case (and I have a few) was given to me about 40 years ago. I never met the lady who made it for me. She was the mother of one of my clients at the time and was in her 80s then. But she must have been a lovely person to do something so kind for a complete stranger. The cover is beautiful needlepoint and feels so “nice” in the hand. But age is now telling on it so I think it is time it retired for a well earned rest. I’m looking forward to seeing the next stage of yours. In the meantime, have a great week.

What sort of things do you make?

Mostly I hook pictorial mats to hang on the wall and/or stitch into cushions. I have been hooking mats of the wildlife (and flowers) I have seen in my yard. So far I have hooked robins, a blue jay, an owl and just finishing a crow. I have a couple of floor rug ideas in my head and a huge stash of handspun yarn to use because spinning is my therapy and I find it very comforting. I spin a four ply cable yarn that is very durable and dye mostly in a haphazard fashion. I really love you videos! I sent you a link or something on Instagram. ❤️
