If I do everything in my power to make sure you're not allowed to speak about a certain subject on tv, I'm not fighting against your freedom of speech. As a citizen, I do not have the duty to respect your freedom of speech. I have every right to say I don't like your opinions. I have every right to even say you shouldn't say those things. I have every right to be angry if you're allowed to say certain things if I believe they are harmful. Freedom of speech is just about not being put to jail, censored or executed BY THE GOVERNMENT because you said something bad about it, unless it's hateful and harmful or encourages hate and harm. Honestly have you ever taken a History class that spends more than one week on even a year’s worth of material? Unless it’s a very specific class, the reality is that the vast majority of stuff won’t even be written in history books that occur during this year or even decade. It’s easy to look at it in the moment and say “this is really important and affects the entire country” but a history book that takes information on the most important and world/country changing events will most likely throw out 95% of what has occurred as the reality is that a lot of these things that have occurred aren’t as important as we make them at this moment. I mean looking at Corona virus, a country-affecting pandemic may not even get a footnote, most history books don’t mention SARS, Zika, Ebola, Yellow Fever etc. at least not in a large capacity. Just my opinion on the now viral idea that students will have to learn a shit ton about this year.

"Then the only check on executive power is the ballot box" Why do you think they're shutting down all the polling stations?
@elpfan42024 жыл бұрын
Exactly!!! They are trying to skew the ballot boxes so that those in inner cities have to wait in mile long lines while those in sleepy suburbs wait only two minutes to vote. There should be a law in place that polling places MUST have a proportional number of voting stations PER CAPITA as any other part of every other state. The real reason they don't want mail in ballots for all is that they would lose. NO OTHER REASON. In my state, you don't need an excuse to vote by mail. So everyone can, if they choose to. That's the way it should be IN EVERY SINGLE STATE. As ballots are checked in by mail, the voters signature is viewed against their registration signature. The signature is on the envelope and crosses the flap to the body of the envelope to avoid someone tampering with it. There are huge fines if someone attempts to file a fraudulent voter registration.
