This helps reduce the stigma surrounding depression and anxiety and will surely help empower others to take action for their own well-being. Enjoy your well-deserved sabbatical, and let the light come in and show you the way to the next leg of your journey. Thank you for all the fun and inspiring videos-you helped me to shape my own Bullet Journaling and creativity in the last few years. I look forward to hearing about your growth and change, should you decide to share it!

Same here OurLittleAcre...in fact I ranted, but then deleted it. But very well put Laura, my daughter had some things happen to her when she was younger (just turned 20). She started seeing a psychologist. After that some more things happened and she ...well, I can't say hit rock bottom...but she was lower than she had ever been. I tear up typing this because I so easily could have been one of those mothers of a child of suicide. One day she walked down a trail that lead to the river wanting to end it all, but thinking of her counseling, left, went to the hospital and told someone she wanted to kill herself. Through that experience she allowed me to be more a part of counseling, of which a contract was made with the Dr, her and I. She will express herself more about her feelings. Her moods are set through 1-10 and all I have to say is 'what is your number right now' and she will tell me, whether a good day or a bad day. I can't stress enough to you Amanda or anyone here, if you feel like something is going on and you're having trouble. Go to a counselor. If money is a problem, some insurances pay 100%. My daughter was home from college and I was sitting in a chair and she came over, sat on my lap to show me something on her phone. My son come home after being at a funeral with his girlfriend who's classmate had committed suicide. He was talking about how upset his girlfriend was and how he couldn't hardly hear the pastor speak over the sobbing of the mother of this child. I hugged my baby in my lap a little harder and, of course, sobbing told her how much I love her and how happy I was that she was so brave to seek help when she did. Suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem. Amanda you may not have gotten to this point, but you take care of you. And don't plan a month, take more if you have to, getting healthy doesn't usually go by a schedule. You are a great talent and seem to be such a great lady the way you hold yourself and speak. I actually write down your ideas so when I start a new month and need an idea i can just look on my list and go...hmmm...Amanda has 'this' on June 20something...haha. See you when you feel good...have a wonderful little KZbin vacation!

Breaks are so healthy and good for everyone, you deserve this! When you come back, don’t sweat the comments. The negative ones are coming from someone in their own negative headspace and taking it out on you (unfortunately), it’s more about them than you, and like you said, you can’t please everyone-and that’s ok! Your first planner is amazing by the way, we can tell you put a lot of love into it and I personally love to see when KZbinrs put effort into products when it is so easy to just go low quality. But you did right by your lil doodles. Now go enjoy your break!

I always feel almost sad when KZbinrs have to ''explain'' that they are taking a break - Like obviously it is great that they take the time to tell their viewers that they will not upoload for a while, but they do not ''owe'' us anything. Ugh - Gosh did I make this negative? Mental health is so important and you absolutely deserve a break

I feel the same way. I follow several people and sometimes they just disappear. Being told a vacation is coming is "nice" but not (shouldn't be) an obligation. Yes, this may be an income avenue, but employees and entrepreneurs can have vacations. I think a beautiful doodle on her account saying "Taking an over due vacation to recharge. Videos on hold." That's it. Don't need to go through the stress of even reliving all this hatefulness she's dealt with. I wanted to just bring her home, and hide her from the world.

I think you nailed it with this comment. Its always nice to see subscribers that dont act entitled to the content just because they "support a KZbinr" and guilt trip them by saying they're ungrateful. Making videos as great as hers is hard work and she deserves a healthy, balanced work/home life.

I came across your channel about 2 to 3 months ago, and have really enjoyed watching all your videos. You have obviously been working really hard, and should not feel guilty about needing to take some much needed time out to look after yourself. I look forward to you coming back reinvigorated and ready to tackle life full on again. And, please ignore the haters...usually people with nothing better to do than to try be controversial - small minds with small thoughts. There is a difference between constructive criticism and just plain being nasty. Because seriously, if someone doesn’t like your channel, then they don’t have to watch it....so to then make pointless derogatory remarks - well that is just unnecessary meanness. Anyway didn’t mean to get caught up in a tirade against trolls. Just wanted to thank you for your candor and let you know that there are people out here wishing you well.

The first time I went to my doctor to talk about my mental health, I did so much of what you just did in this video. Justifying and 'I know it must sound like...' and etc. And my doctor was like, "Let me tell you something I noticed while you were talking. With every word that comes out of your mouth you're worrying about what I'm thinking of you or whether I'm taking you seriously. That's a sign for me that we need to take this seriously." So that's what I'm gonna tell you now. Every impulse to justify yourself or imagine how we must be seeing you is just another thing your brain is doing because it's not well right now. You're important all on your own, and you deserve to take time and take a break and get whatever help you need. Don't rush. Another lesson from my doctor: "If you're still panicking about when you should go back to work, it's too soon to go back to work." Obviously we're all here because we love your videos, but if you decide never to come back to this, that's fine too. You're a whole ass human and you deserve love and respect.

Yes! All of this is what I was coming here to say! If you feel like coming back would be tough, and you'd need to really psych yourself up to do it, then it's not yet time. When you're overflowing with ideas to show us, and can't wait to share your rediscovered enthusiasm for journalling etc... THAT's the time to come back. And all that second guessing people, worrying what they might be thinking... So very familiar to me! Somewhere on my Pinterest, amongst all your doodles and spreads, I also have some MH pins that you might find useful, so I'll pop back in a sec with a couple of links. The thing is, you don't need other people's permission for this stuff - if you need a break, then you take a break. If you want to change your schedule, then you change it. Those of us who appreciate and value your work will go with the flow. And the haters? Well, they will find an excuse to complain no matter what you do, so unfortunately any time or energy you give to trying to please them or get them on board is wasted. Instead, spend that time and energy on building yourself up 💜

I feel like this kind of burnout is happening with a lot of KZbinrs recently. So many of us have mental health issues, and we have jobs that give us weekends, vacation time, sick days, etc. We have jobs that don’t involve people constantly sending us hateful comments. So for the people who have KZbin channels, who work on this stuff 24/7, and then have to deal with all of the criticism and negativity... it’s got to be so much more difficult. You (and all of the KZbinrs going through this stuff) need to realize that you need time off like the rest of us. Also, remember that internet bullies have nothing better to do than to hide behind a keyboard and pretend that they are important. And stop putting so much pressure on yourself! I know all of this is easier said than done (I often give advice that I don’t even take myself), but maybe your time off will help. Enjoy your well-deserved break!
@nameissturdy13904 жыл бұрын
OLTLYRFan I noticed the same thing among people who have KZbin as a career. Especially those that have been doing it for awhile. Good point also about the constant/frequent criticism vs most other jobs. They should have a a support system in place for content creators. If they don’t already.

You don’t have to care about others who don’t care about you. A person making a negative comment will forget about it seconds after hitting the Send button. But you who reads the comment will remember it for days. So is it worth it to think too much into the negative comment? I don’t even have a single second to read negative unconstructive criticism. A lot of pressure is perceived pressure. When you make art, some people will like it, some people don’t. But who cares? The person who made the nasty comment surely does not.

Hi Amanda, just to say I started up my Minimalist Bullet Journaling Channel here and my whole entire bullet journal life started after seeing your channel and envying how perfect your setups always were. I've suffered from a minor form of autism and social anxiety from the get go, and that has hindered my life so much. Then when I slowly I pushed myself to create a bujo and all it's done has been positive things and organizing my life. Now my goal is to create the ultimate extreme Minimalist Bujo channel, and hopefully one day grow to become a much bigger channel so I can keep on sharing and giving everyone ideas. I always come back around to checkout your setups all the time! I wish you well, and get some good rest. You're amazing with all your creativity and we'll be here supporting you!

You are an amazing person. You are talented. You are hard working. You are resilient. You are a good person. Your are our future. I'm watching this two months late because I'm very behind in my KZbin, so I know you are now back because my email alerts tell me so. :) I am 53 years old and I find your content refreshing, uplifting, and inspiring. I know the Doodles love you and I'm so happy you are such an inspiration to so many. Thank YOU for your contribution to making this world a better, happier, colorful, organized place.

2019 was a roller coaster for most people, and that includes me. Thoughts when alone kicked in so bad specially when you’re living in Japan.... Anywwy. My therapist introduced me to bullet journal as part of my healing while I was struggling with my mental health. I searched on it on YT and the very first video I watched was yours. You somehow saved me from my mental struggle becuase you inspire me to make my bullet journal colorful and remind myself that I’m okay to be myself on my journal. Taking a break is very essential. Doesnt have to be a month, it can be 2 months or a year. when u feel like going back we will welcome you with open arms.

Don't even worry about it.... You've given us so much great content. You even felt you needed to explain what was going on. That's commitment in itself. This doesn't make you uncommitted. It makes you more commited than just releasing on your normal schedule 😁 well done! 😝

Amanda, I wanted to give you some advice as a person recovering from anxiety. On your break, go out and find your people. Find a community. A safe space where you can talk to people and normalize your feelings or empathize with others to help your own anxiety. Search your local stationary shops for events or pick up a new hobby and hang out with the people there. Or start with the friends you have and find a place where you can feel safe and okay to be all of you, anxious or not. Then, when you head back into your new reconstructed work schedule, you have at least one comfortable spot where work and the comments and the burnout cannot follow. And you can be at peace during those moments. I hope this helps. Get lots of good rest, make a self care spread, and take your time. We will all be waiting with love and compassion when you are ready to come back. :)

I wholeheartedly second this suggestion. Building some time into my routine where I can just be myself with people who truly understand what it's like to struggle with their mental health has been absolutely essential for me. Here in the UK, we have a charity called Mind, and I've been a member of one of their support groups for 3 years now. There is something so powerful about opening up and sharing how you are feeling, and having that validated by others who have shared those feelings, thought patterns, etc.

I just wanted to say that I bought your doodle planner for my mom because she wanted to try bullet journaling but didn’t have the time to set it up herself and I cannot even begin to tell you just how her face lit up when she got it. She loved every single month and kept showing it to me and everyone around us and even started coloring in the months while we were watching tv on New Year’s Eve. From the bottom of my heart (and I’m sure my mom’s as well), thank you so much for everything you do. Also, because of your videos I reconnected with a friend from elementary school and we were able to meet up after not seeing each other for almost 10 years!! The impact you have on people’s lives and your ability to bring people together is amazing! There will always be people who will never be pleased no matter what you do, but know that the people who love and support you far outnumber those who don’t. So take as much time as you need, take care of yourself, and I hope 2020 brings you only the best!

amanda, you were the person i came across on youtube who made my start my first bullet journal. i have been bullet journaling for more than 3 years now, and you’re the person i always refer to first for ideas and inspiration, because what you do with your designs are always so unique and interesting 😍 so many others doing bullet journaling also say they take inspiration from you, which just shows how respected you are among the community! if anything, after i started following your work, i learnt from you that bullet journaling is not about fulfilling expectations, but about letting your creativity flow and creating something that is satisfying to yourself. and i cannot thank you enough for that 🙏🏼 everyone knows that as your area and scope of influence increases, the number of people who criticize your work also increases. haters have nothing better to do other than be jealous of your success and impose their own inflated expectations on you, when they themselves cannot even fulfill a thousandth of what you’re bringing to the table. we know how hard it must have been to decide to share your personal struggles on this with us, and we thank you for being honest and real, and also respect you for being so mature and strong 🙇🏻♀️ it’s just sad how toxic the internet can be to young, talented and genuine people like yourself..but we will support you all the way 💪🏼 please don’t feel sorry or bad for deciding to take a break. as much as we will miss you, self care and self love is pretty much the most important thing to keep your mind healthy, so take as much time off as you need. we’ll keep you in our prayers, and we love and cherish you very much. please take care ❤️

But now I'm thinking: "Take your time, take all the time you need, and I will be here whenever (in a month or a year) you come back. This is my first year bullet journaling, and you're the only bullet journal channel that has been my main source of information about this entire new life I'm going to embark on, I've literally watched over 40 videos back to back and I've felt that you have been so amazingly consistent - I've tried other channels and they don't work for me having grown up in China and being Canadian, you're like a little piece of home. Part of me wanting to get on the bullet journal wagon has been to get organized with my business, which I too have failed to separate between who am I? versus what is my business? Down to the point where, all I gravitate towards are clothes that reflect my brand colors - I mean I absolutely love my business and everything I chose along with it so how can I blame myself? Even the new bullet journal I got initially was the exact color of my brand, I literally had to return it, to get a new one, with a new color, one that fit both my personal and business desires because I had to work on carving out more space for myself. So what I give you as a very excited new subscriber, is my blessing and my FULL permission (absolutely not that you need it) to go take care of your mental health, your sweet tender emotions (which, I'm even open to helping you move through if you need, i'm an integrative yoga therapist). So my love, I look forward to you taking your own space, because a prerequisite of creativity is time and space, you know that of course from the Big Magic :) Sending you much love and tender cuddles!

Being a perfectionist is one of my character defects, and it is exhausting.....putting so much pressure on yourself, Setting high expectations, and unattainable goals leads to not being perfect. I relate and I understand how being a people pleaser, on top of being a perfectionist, will literally cause a mental, physical, and emotional breakdown. Either you listen to your gut or your body will be do it for you. You have the world at your heals and have accomplished so much in your short time you have been here on earth, Your amazing, go rest, sleep, eat, and party🥰🥰🥰✌🏼❤️🌱

Literally only just discovered your channel and have watched 3 of your videos (this, the vertical filming setup, 1 mill + a little scroll ofc). Despite not being a KZbinr and having the exact same pressures you have, I just wanted to say that I relate to you SO much and think your videos (those I’ve seen + scroll) and what you do are so beautiful. I feel inspired by what you’re saying, love your aesthetic and really appreciate your work! ❤️❤️ Artists change and evolve with time and the net is such a minefield but I think what you do is so so courageous and inspiring, it’s something I aspire to, and I hope you’re continuing to focus on the amazing work and inspiration you create (and on Amanda) and not that shitty 1%! You exude drive and positivity and competence across the screen, thank you for adding beauty to my world and hope 1 year on your break was super helpful and you’re back to kicking goals and concentrating on what brings you the most joy and fulfilment. Sending you so much love from Italy!! ❤️❤️

As someone who has struggled with depression and burnout, my single piece of advice is to not put a deadline on your healing. Take as much time as you need. And stay completely away from it all while you are recovering. Log out of your account, your email, let everything be. I hope you can find a way back to yourself♥️

I just found your channel tonight and went through your Bullet Journal Plan for March. I loved it! I have been trying to start a bullet journal for year’s, but I too live in my own head. You are a beautiful young woman who deserves to have a life outside of KZbin and negative comments. Take all the time you need to feel truly good about yourself. My one suggestion (from experience), is that you take some breaks daily and just go outside for a short walk so you can recharge your brain and get away from any negativity that you may see and feel. I’ve come to the realization that there are people in this world that are so unhappy with they’re lives, that they take it out on others. I commend you for doing this video and speaking from your heart. You have a new fan, and I will follow you when you come back your new self!

I’m here after seeing your new video about your next break because I never watched this one. I’m glad you’re taking a break. I’ve felt this way before and I’m not even self-employed. I was in high school when I felt this way and it’s a scary place...The good thing is that you took a much-needed break however you could and because of that, you can now take preventative measures and give yourself the time you need before you get to that dark place again. So sorry you've been feeling this way, but glad you shared how you are feeling. It's scary to be so open and honest about your feelings and struggles... But the more people speak out about their mental health and struggles the more it becomes mainstream and easier to talk about. I hope your break helps you destress and unwind. Know you are loved and your fans will be there when you're ready to return, if you decide to return. It's your life and you should do what you need to make you happy. You don't owe anyone anything. Remember that. You are enough just as you are. Much love. 😘

i am so so glad and proud of you for taking this step back, you needed it and you so deserve it. I've only started following you a few months back and have always been amazed by how consistent you are with your content - and they're so quality ones! I'm trying to grow my KZbin channel and I know how hard it is to be so consistent and have such quality content all the time. You've inspired me to start bullet journaling (my setup is pretty potato level compared to yours but oh well, it works for me so it's good!) So yea, have a GOOD GOOD break, can't wait to watch your next video (don't matter when, take longer than a month if you need!) about how the break has helped you. HAPPY RESTING!!!
