More than that actually. You have to know all the movies and actually care about them a little more than just for the sake of a couple of hours of entertainment, otherwise you forget the things that are referenced in this movie. That's what makes this movie so gorgeous. It's really for the true fans and the creators don't care that the rest of the audience doesn't get it.

@@reaganolivia7755 I think it was mainly just because the movie didn't seem intriguing to him (which is fair enough) not necessarily because it had a female lead role. Also, they should've had a female lead role a lot sooner than they did, it can't be denied; and I think he just thought the 'female empowerment scene' felt a bit forced and that it kinda seemed like they were just trying to make up for all the times the female roles have kinda been pushed to the side a bit. Although, I don't have problem with the scene, however, it does feel a little forced, but hey-ho I like it.

So I did enjoy the scene where all the women are together despite it’s absolute cheesiness because it showed just how many badass women we have in this universe. However, you are 100% correct that had we had more female centric solo movies in the early phases, it wouldn’t have been necessary.

I watched that scene too, and it felt so out of place because they almost never really focus on the female characters unless: 1) Sexual tension 2) Death scene 3) Virtue signaling So I cringed so hard when I watched it in theaters because I knew number three was what they were going for, and like you said, there should have been more female centric movies (and honestly just female centric, feminine gaze scenes).
@Aro7241
@Aro7241 2 жыл бұрын
@@Sam-ux4kw Except, it's easy for us to say now.. there should've been more female centric movies in phase 1. But that never could've happened cause when Marvel started up their comic book movie franchise, their female audience was seemingly minimal to none. Just think about how many male comic book nerds to female comic book nerds you know in real life, before the MCU Era. There would've been no considerable audience for a captain marvel movie back then. They're doing the best they can to keep up with their ever-expanding audience, even with the risk of virtue signaling. I literally have a friend who hated the fact that Falcon & Winter Soldier was focused on Racial issues and called it Disney's cheap marketing to be relevant with current trends
@Sam-ux4kw
@Sam-ux4kw 2 жыл бұрын
@@Aro7241 I get it but it's like, if you're gonna do it, do it right. You don't get to show us a all-female scene and not do any other work. That was point I was trying to make. And even if there was a large male audience, I still feel like over sexualizing these women is still wrong and sends the wrong message.

SHOW DON’T FUCKING TELL. We teach this to school kids in creative writing. Avoid telling your audience how powerful or generous or wise your character is and instead SHOW IT. It’s the same thing for DC. you need to understand the characters, what happened to them to make them the way they are, heck you even need to know a lot of their lines in past movies. Endgame was the event where everything came full circle. If you know you don’t care about the characters or know the movies like real Marvel fans, then simply don’t watch Endgame. This may sound dramatic, but it wasn’t just a movie for us. It was literally the endgame of all we’ve been through since 2008.

@@razkable it becomes important when people enjoy it and want more. Why does something you like need to end? If you never felt a hollow feeling after watching a movie that you loved and thought what now, is because you never watched a movie you really really enjoyed. Marvel fans enjoy it because you get to see characters grow old with you and it does not only affect a generation, but any generations since comics came out. It's a bonding moment. You have your right to not want to spend time watching every single material out there, but you cannot criticise those who do because everyone has different hobbies and is different that is the beauty of the world.

Why was it okay for Thanos to feel entitled to kill 50% of all life in the universe (this includes humans, animals, plants, and all other life forms on all other planets? Just because his home planet died due to lack of resources? Even before the stones, Thanos went around to multiple planets killing off half the population (not at random - he chose not to kill Gamora). Thanos wanting to get rid of half of life with complete disregard of the emotions/opinions of others is an act of selfishness. @lavanyatopa2893
@lavanyatopa2893 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The movie was released really close to infinity wars. That's what he said too. They made a movie so late. Why couldn't they come up with black widow origin story earlier? They are releasing it after we saw her die on screen. She has been around for so long, yet we don't know much about her. Even the captain marvel movie was made for pushing this female empowerment agenda. Marvel was under alot of scrutiny for not having a female lead movie and hence they made captain marvel. It's disingenuous.

I mean I found Captain Marvel more of a checking box movie rather than something they actually worked on to make empowering. It was full of cringey jokes and aknowledgements of her being a woman on top of a really bland boring plot all so they could squeeze in another female hero before the next big movie. Brie did a great job with what she had to work with but let's be honest the movie was ass and the character was poorly written.
