In today's video I run through how I keep my deals, and finances organized when I buy sports cards whether its a $1 deal or a $10,000 deal. Keeping everything is organized is a key to building your sports card business. Through the years I have been unorganized, but its been a learning process to get to where we're at today. The biggest mistake I've made is I will either forget the price I paid because I hadn't sold the card until months later, or I will not calculate the deals properly which will lead to me to lose money on deals in the long run. @@RobertLee-wi5kc i don't really think its fair to compare the sports card market in 1986 or 2004 to the market that we've lived in since 2019-2020. I was speaking of the present and I really believe that's the play TODAY unless it's like a Paul Skenes, Anthony Edwards, maaaayyyybe C.J. Stroud type of talent, is to sell QUICKLY. A good comparison would be Ethan Salas (18 year old top prospect, San Diego Padres).....the week 2023 Bowman Chrome came out, his Bowman First Auto was selling for $500. A year later it's $100 or less and he's still considered a top 10 prospect in all of MLB. Unless you have a project able card 1/1 or 1/5 (or some parallel that's been highly valued for years), it's almost not even worth it to gamble anymore. In 95% of cases, I'd sell a big hit TODAY!

You’re doing the same thing many of us did and have done many many times, which worked out between 2019 and 2021, but will no longer work out. You’re trying to time the market by speculating on who the next big shot player is gonna be. Stop with the speculation. Buy solid cards of solid, proven, future Hall of Famer’s. Yes, those cards will not increase in value like a more speculative player will, but at least the likelihood of that card diminishing in value is substantially less. For example., if you have a choice between a Steph Curry rookie or a Shai Gilgeous Alexander/Jaylen Bronson rookie, pick the Steph. Ask yourself “ what have Shai and Jalen accomplished aside from currently playing at an All Star level?” Not a goddamn thing. So why invest in their cards? Because we’re trying to catch lightning in a bottle. It’s too scary, too risky, and too speculative. Just stick to the proven players. I guarantee you a Tom Brady rookie will be worth a lot more in 10 years than an equivalent Josh Allen/Joe Burrow rookie. I speculated a lot and lost a lot of money. I’ve stopped doing that. Win a championship first and then we consider paying good money to buy one of your cards. Playing at an Allstar level is not good enough because you have a thousand different variations of a rookie card. So the only thing that can help a player stand out is if they become a champion. Only exception is if they do things that has never been seen before (ex: Shohei Ohtani). Otherwise, no championship, no pay money for card.
