Hey Zack! I love you videos, you're an amazing dog expert and I've learned so much from you. Now, as an expert in hiking gear, maybe I can help you out too. Just a wee tip, really - jeans (or anything cotton) are going to get uncomfortable quickly on a hike in a place like where you were at. Any rain means your legs are going to be heavy and cold for hours, and chaffing is much more likely. If you're going to hike regularly, or even occasionally, I recommended picking up a pair of hiking trousers. They generally use nylon or poly as a base fabric and are sometimes treated with DWR to aid in water repellency. They will be more breathable when wet and dry much more quickly, even if conditions aren't ideal. Companies like Patagonia, Fjallraven and Prana all have great options that also look pretty smart, and are readily available in the US. You can also pick up a merino base layer to pop underneath for colder days. If you don't want to invest in a pair of hiking pants, pants designed for running, climbing, or for the gym also tend to work well, although yoga-style pants tend to hold onto water a bit more than I like personally. Also, basic tip - always have a dry change of clothes in the car, even if it's just a wee jaunt you're going on. If it rains, if you get sweaty, or if your muddy border collie decides she wants to cuddle, you know you have some guaranteed comfort for the ride home ;).

Alaska is no joke. Definitely take precautions when you go out to the woods like this. There are a lot of bear attacks when the bear sees a dog, chases the dog, and finds the owners. I would have full confidence in Bree if I were there, as an Alaskan herself.

Wow, in a situation like that a moose could be really dangerous. In the springtime they can also attack people because they are protecting their young. My dog is off leash on our autumn walks, and she does a good job of scaring the moose off by barking at them. We saw one today, but most of the time she'll start barking before we're close enough to even see the moose.

I am getting a puppy! Can you please do a video on what food to give your puppy? I was looking at a raw meat diet some say it is good and some say it is bad . So should I feed my puppy kibble or raw?
@emmamemma41624 жыл бұрын
If you decide to feed raw, make sure to do your research! You cannot just give a dog meat, it also needs bones and organ meats, and potentially supplements. Make sure you know what to give and how much. If you're unsure, a pre-made dog food (there is kibble, canned dog food, and frozen pre-mixed raw food) is better.
@angelaburress85864 жыл бұрын
You do know it’s better for them to be on a raw food diet being that their closest relative is wolf It’s the manufactured food that kills them

Hi Zak! I had a question about my dog Banjo growling at my wife. We recently moved into our house in June and he's getting accustomed to staying inside most of the time where he was always an outside dog at my parent's house. We got married in July and we were away for a week for our honeymoon. When we got back he started growling at my wife wherever she would pet him, talk to him, and when she would pick him up (before he would never growl at any of these actions). He still does this and we're not sure what to do... we've had my wife take care of his necessities like food, water, taking him out to use the restroom, etc. He still growls at her and he has snapped at her a few times too. Not really sure what else we need to do. I've seen one of your videos talking about dogs energy levels and I think he's a 3. We started walking him more often to release some energy but he still growls at her. Any help would be great!

Hey Zac! Imma big fan of your videos and training tactics. I got a puppy awhile go, who is now 4 months. His name is Obi. He is an Australian Shepherd/ boarder collie. Him and I love to watch your videos. Yes, he watches them. Lol As much as I'd like to sayhe is a good boy (for the most part), he has a lil bit of an attitude when he doesn't get his way. If I want him off the sofa for example, he will bark at me and dodge my hand to get him off, and sometimes bite! How can I stop this??

That bell gave me a headache. Please drop the bell and you’re not gonna get killed. I live in sweden and when im in the forest with my dog i never put on some dumb bell or spray becuase mooses and all wild animals are way more scared of people then we are of them. So you don’t need to worry about mooses and if you encounter a moose just take the dog and run the other direction
@runningrock1244 жыл бұрын
me too, plus several national park rangers from different states have told me bear bells do not hinder, but actually can lure bears and other animals toward you. just hike in groups and have bear spray as last resort. no bells
@darkessvslightnina16164 жыл бұрын
If I see something before my dog does I change direction, if she does, I say good girl and we change direction without barking, yelling or panic, if you will panic the game is lost, same goes with yelling and aggressive barking.

Hi Zak! I have a 6 month old amstaff puppy, and for the past 5-6 weeks he starts whining/crying and barking every day at the same time - around 730pm, 30 mins after his evening walk. He cries and whines for over 2 hours and if you give him attention he bites and snaps the air. What could be the reasons? He is exercised well enough.

@emmamemma41624 жыл бұрын
This can be addressed by teaching the "leave it"-command. An easier way of doing it is to switch to a chain leash, since dogs don't usually like to chew on metal. Make sure the chain is light enough for your dog, and use a harness or collar made from another material.
@XoX0..Blu3Skyzz4 жыл бұрын

My dog does bites the leash when we play and she knows when to do and when to do not. If you are apathetic when the dog bites the leash the most dogs will loose their interest, but If your dog is a puppy you have to first understand that it is because of their teeth, as long as you do not turn it into a game the dog will stop it when the teething will stop. I have had 2 dogs and I did let them to bite it and I even turned it into a game, when they was 1 year old they knew their on and off time to bite the leash but when they turned 2 they stopped to bite it and I do miss it to be ownest...

☺️☺️❤️❤️Hi dog lover, No matter what your dog’s problem behavior is… Be it jumping, peeing inappropriately, aggression, pulling on the leash…or whatever… There is ONE SOLUTION that can help STOP this problem now The sad fact is… Most Dog trainers miss this solution entirely. They give you cookie cutting training programs. They use outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. Or worse yet… They have no qualifications and are complete phonies. So what’s the answer to stopping your Dog’s behavior problems? In 4 simple words… Discovering your dog’s hidden intelligence. Let me explain… In my 10 years as a certified trainer…there’s ONE BIG LESSON I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved. A More intelligent dog takes commands easier …and understands what you need from them. The good news is… No matter how clever you think your dog is. You can unlock their hidden intelligence quickly and easily braintrainingfor4dogs.netlify.app/

Hope the moose is ok. Smart to get in the car. My family ran into a moose early spring while snowmobiling in the White Mountains of NH. It started to come at us and we were literally driving backward down the trail to give each rider a chance to turn around and get out of there. Luckily the moose didn't like the back up beeping and moved away giving us a chance to get out of there. Scariest trip ever. They are very large and very fast.
