one thing i feel you do best and is something i really need to push through with building, is not being afraid to pair colors id turn away from because i dont think its similar enough... ex. your entire massive bridge's texturing is a great example with how up close you notice it more and more how different the blocks are. Now even with the floor of your new build- oak planks, jungle wood, spruce... all in the same floor?? in my head id still be thinking "no this is so drastically different, itll look weird when you look too close". but the array of colors you pick look good because there is similarity! not in the direct shade (simply variations of the same color- like strict neutral colors of stone, but not the warm ones), but in what colors compliment each other (spruce, oak, and jungle are in fact close to each other in color and warm tone despite looking different).
@pixel_biscuit
@pixel_biscuit Жыл бұрын
When you build you need to have the mentality that you are using colour just like how you would in a painting or drawing. You group colours based on their relative warmth, and you also may attempt to implement this into 'shading' where you may make some sides of a build cooler to denote shadow.
@MorrysIllusion
@MorrysIllusion Жыл бұрын
@@pixel_biscuit thats the funny thing too- i am majorly an artist first and use all kinds of colors together. i know well how to use them- i think what trips me up is that i hugely overthink minecraft textures. its not just one color in a block- in my own art? i pick everything by hand and can control the texture, i directly decide if i want warms or colds, i stretch out my color choice bc i start with flat color and can take steps to texture/shade. in blocks in minecraft i just have to take it how it is, and sometimes i look too hard at those specific colors (ex. i have a hard time pairing gravel with another stone like mossy cobble or tuff like bdubs did, because i just see all that pinkish color in gravel, while the cobble is far more neutral overall w ahint of warm green, and the tuff is much darker and carries more green- despite them being mixed on the warmer side they seem too different up close and i think itll look too obvious). for minecraft its a whole different learning process for me when coming from a space that i controlled every part and didnt have to worry about it lol! too often i think "if only i could tweak the block like this..."

Its intentional that the hanging signs float when they have the bar on top, hanging signs also have 3 different "textures", when you place on the side of a block,wich then adds a bar on top, when you put on the bottom side of a full block or a block with a small hitbox holding shift, this way the chains connect to the middle and the sign can be placed on any direction, and placing them on the bottom of a block without shift, this way the chains of the sign connect to the top similar to the way the sign with a bar connects, this way the sign cant be rotated. Another thing is that signs can be edited but not only on the front but also in the back, and each side can have a different text, color and glowing effect if you want, you can also use honeycombs to lock the signs so you cant edit them again. Another change that is a bit related to signs is that they added support to "emotes" on text, so you can use the windows emotes on anything that can have text now, including signs, renamed items, chat, etc

I love the dead tree, but I don’t love it where it currently is. Because it’s so “busy”, it mixes in with the builds behind it and makes everything look undefined from a distance. I think it would look super cool in front of a unicolored background - preferably not grey. Which is why I’m thinking you should put it on top of a hill. From a distance you’ll see the tree with the sky behind it and it’ll look awesome. Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Omg I’m so excited for 1.20! Thanks for the fantastic episode :D

Bdubs you don't need a TNT duper, you just gotta invite Doc to join your single player world and set up a wither powered universal block destroyer :D Or you know...just build a TNT tree farm but instead of duping the TNT, just farm up the TNT yourself and have the dispenser fed by a bunch of chests of TNT. Harvesting sand is way easier to do than to harvest mangrove wood by hand, and you already have the creeper farm for the gunpowder.

A possible solution to the mangrove issue while still keeping it authentic to the real tree; - naturally they will spawn the same way, with high roots and so on. - when grown, they will be the shape of a normal tree and have no floating roots, only a few around the base of the tree. - however when the sapling is grown IN WATER, as it would in real life, the tree grows as it does in nature once more, roots and all. This could be justified with it flourishing under proper care, while still allowing easy farms.

I like using the skull sherd as a caution sign on machinery! I think the pot is my new favorite block, a view model taller than a block while still allowing you to place blocks above is rly nice for tiny detailing. Also, one thing I discovered with them is the neck of the pot slots perfectly into a mangrove trapdoor, allowing u to make it look like they're hanging and being suspended by the lip around the enterance. Great block, and a great addition, I am in love.

I think the biggest issue with the tree isn't the tree itself. The shape is great, the colours are great, texturing and design are great. IT however blends in with the area around it too heavily. It becomes obstructive and dampens the feel of the area. You need a tree that's similar in shape, maybe a little taller but just as thin, and with maybe a canoe style leaves to not block the sight lines

Did you see xisuma’s simple no- redstone setup for mangroves? The trick is: 1) know that the logs appear in the center and branches are only ever in each of the cardinal directions 2) spam a few of them in the same spot, then go to the top and chop downwards in the center, getting the sides as you go down Still kind of slow, but mindless

Correct if wrong, but I believe you can also now write on both sides of a sign, instead of having to put two signs back to back. Perfect for those hanging signs. The book shop looks awesome. I agree that those new bookshelves are so much better for decorative purposes. If they ever make them redstone compatible, to where the amount of books or where you put them on the shelf can output different signal strengths would be awesome. You could make hidden entrances with bookshelves as the activator.

If you need a lot of mangrove wood, its probably worth building a short bubblevator and walkway to get to the center of the tree from above. That way you don't have to use scaffolding every time. Also the diagonal branches are way easier to mine from above, especially with a diamond/netherite hoe. idk if I'm explaining it well but I believe Xisuma made a video about it.

Its very easy to manually farm mangrove. First start in water, the trees grow in water and will make a nice open area and bring the top of the tree closer to yourself. Second get a riptide trident and use it to easily get to the top of the tree. Third use a hoe to clear the excess leaves and an ax to chop down the logs. Forth use a flint and steel to burn away any leftover leaves and logs and repeat.

Hey I gotta say the bitrate was MUCH better than it used to years ago with the rain, I never noticed it since most people just skip the rain on youtube but honestly, it wasnt that pixelated at all to me, maybe a SLIGHT amount while moving as well but honestly it wasnt bad at all. SO MUCH better than back in the days, not sure if its minecraft or youtube or both but its much better

Great video, I remember first becoming interested in playing Minecraft because of you and Generikb. Think the first video I randomly saw was when you were building a giant colosseum and Generikb was living in an RV outside of it lol. Sorry for the ramble.
