Fortune actually isn't a shard. Fortune is the ability to tap into the Spiritual Realm. We've seen this just a couple of times with things like how Hoid knows where to go (but not necessarily WHY he's needed), as well as things like feruchemists being able to store fortune (which we pretty well only know from the tables at the back of the books as they haven't shown feruchemists storing fortune in the story yet). We have seen some allomantic uses of fortune as well with things like atium/electrum, electrum, and gold. All of those use foturne to see alternate views of a person. As far as the shards go, we have almost all 16 known in the books (and Brandon has hinted at the last one - but wants to save it for an in-book reveal). I hope that helps!

I think Kal will live but will split from Syl. Syl is v much into Kal and into being human, but I don't think Kal is into her or is going to reciprocate. Doubly so because of the quote about him making a good edgedancer. Also I could see Kal being exiled or choosing exile from Roshar for some reason. He will be in the back half but as an Obi Wan kind of figure. Actually thinking about Star Wars, one of the main characters will become Darth Vader. Brandon loves doing his 'improved' versions of classic story structures. Dalinar could take up Honor and Odium and be the villain of the back half (crazy theory lol), or as Odium's champion. (he has an oath to Odium to save Roshar and will not break it). If not Dalinar then Shallan will be the fallen hero and bond Ba Ado Mishram. She'll break when she realises what she did by killing her mother. And in book 9/10 she'll come back to the good.

maybe Kal and Syl get together (and reunited) in like book 8/9 but no way it happens now, because Syl is too immature (as a human). I think Kal sees her more like a sister. 90% of the response to it I've seen is "god no" and Brandon would have definitely gotten that response in feedback, so he's leaning into it because he's NOT going to commit to it.

also I wouldn't bet too hard on Kal being king or NOT being honor's champion yet just because of the set up in these early chapters. that feels a little like misdirection. eg, if they didn't red herring it then no one would be surprised that kal becomes honor's champion (maybe this leads to him being exiled as part of a deal). the stormfather does keep calling him child of honor etc, so maybe there already is lines of connection there. what about cultivation? Wax was Harmony's "champion"/sword, so does Cultivation have one as well? Shallan?? Odium's champion -> Dalinar Cultivation's -> Shallan Honor's -> Kal

The obvious choice is Adolin not Kaladin because it makes sense that Kal will be the next Honor

Kaladin has been a whiny nonhero for 2 looks like 3 books now. The best thing he could so at this point is sacrifice himself for someone else to pick up his slack. Wont miss him.
