At this point it would be better if someone eöse Tool over. Pat tells them the most important plotpoints and then someone Else finishes the Series.

Lots of the holder things are definitely useful if you have issues with hands - tennis elbow, stroke and arthritis etc. I have stroke issues and RSI so holding a book for any length of time gives me a crampy hand - I have yet to find a book cushion with the right angle so I have a kind of box with a cushion on the bottom with a slop you can have at different angles with built in page holders. I might invest in that Kindle arm though... thanks

My favorite read of 2024 was Academy for Villains by Ever King. It’s a great start to a romantasy series.

I have the wooden thumb page holder. IDK if it is because I usually read using my ereader but I found holding a paperback gave my fatigue in my hands.

I've really struggled to get into anything since Joe Abercrombie, not least due to Pacey. I've just finished the first book at loved it. Having much the same upbringing as hobb, being a farmer in a pretty harsh climate, I really like the animal aspect of it. Nosey!!!!!!

I used to commute to work. One-way was over an hour. Audiobooks saved my sanity. Now that I’m retired, and going deaf, I have Bluetooth hearing aids that puts the story directly into my ears. This allows me to do any chore around the house that needs getting done. As far as book holders…Kindle holders, I have a bit of arthritis in my hands and my floor stand allows me to read sitting up, reclining in a comfy chair, or flat on my back in bed when I was recuperating from surgery. Finally, I am American and I think the Nessie bookmark was the best thing you showed us. Who doesn’t love Nessie?

Read Farseer and Tawny Man in 2024. All six books would make that top tier xD As for some other book obsessions: The Will of the Many, The Crown Tower, Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands

My top six: Mistborn. I started reading modern fantasy in 2024, and started with the popular ones. This one was just incredible (my first Sanderson) The Library at Mount Char. Niece's recommendation. Great stuff, loved the setup Legends and Lattes. I needed a lot of comfy fantasy this year, this one was the first, and best. The Will of the Many Dungeon Crawler Carl series, read them consecutively, they all merge into one book for me. Kushiel's Dart. Had this book for many years, never got round to it. Fantastic world-building This is how you lose the Time War. I got this as an Advanced Reading Copy a while back, and gave it a very low score. Maybe they did some heavy edits.

You should check out the Alex Verus novels by Benedict Jacka. The use of magic items and the existence of sensitives vs. Mages and magical creatures makes for great plot twists and additional story lines.

I felt the same way about "This is how to lose the time war". Mostly I was just confused. 😅 My top 10: 1. The Failures by Benjamin Liar 2. The Bitter Crown by Justin Lee Anderson 3. The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan 4. Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky 5. Asunder by Kerstin Hall 6. Gods of the Wyrdwood by R.J. Barker 7. The Dead Cat Tail Assassins by P. Djeli Clark 8. A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab 9. Flying Hotel by Grace Curtis 10. The Cage of Dark Hours by Marina Lostetter

I’m about 120 pages into the 700 pages of The Inevitable Ruin and I’m enjoying it. Can’t wait for the audiobook. Gotta say I am thankful for the audiobooks. I know how names of places and people are pronounced. Even Tserendolgor knew people would butcher her name.

As someone who also finds magic in Robin Hobb's immersive writing style, loved your description of how she just pulls you completely into her world. And those murder mystery fantasies sound fascinating - especially intrigued by 'The Tainted Cup' with that Leviathan-threatened setting. Always appreciate finding unique genre blends! 📚

Favorite read of 2024 was probably Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo. I also read some really good romantasy; the Ever King duology and Spark of the Everflame series. Honestly last reading year wasn’t that great. Hoping for a better year this year.

I’m stuck on Rhythm of War. I’m a quarter of the way through the book, and it’s so slow going. At this rate I won’t be reading Wind and Truth until July. 😂 I say all that to say Oathbringer was my absolute favorite book I read in 2024. Loved it so much. Other favorites were: - Bel Canto by Ann Patchett - Skin Game by Jim Butcher - Trials of Empire by Richard Swan - The Wickwire Watch by Jacquelyn Hagen - Empire of Exiles by Erin M Evans (slow start but worth it for the ending) - Tiamat’s Wrath and Leviathan Falls by James S.A. Corey

I'm about 70% of the way through Rhythm of War right now, and I'll say that for me it has taken its time, but when it hit around 55% it started to pick up the pace and I feel the story has become more engaging. I'm trusting in the sanderlanche haha! Also, Oathbringer is my favourite, too!
@veronicapriceКүн бұрын
@ Thank you, that’s good to know. I was worried it wouldn’t pick up the pace until the sanderlanche. I should just dedicate a week to finishing it and enjoying it for what it is. Starting it right after Oathbringer was not the best idea.

@tanja93643 күн бұрын
So did I! There was no depth to the story, no depth to the main characters and I felt I knew absolutely nothing about them and the world. The relationships were superficial and when one character died, I really didn’t care! I have absolutely no idea why everyone seems to go on about this book in a positive way - it’s no good!!

@@knightradiant4990 the world and characters all felt incredibly flat and the story was rushed. I was so let down.

I bought myself an off brand lego book nook that's like a little spell shop. it is very detailed came with lights and you can have it open or closed and it was 30 bucks on amazon. I had the best time for a couple of nights between christmas and new years listening to an audiobook and building my little spell book shop 🥰🥰🥰 *edit to say the exterior of the nook is designed to look like a book, it's so cute. Also I think "lego" was the way to go since a lot of the other DIYs need to be painted or stained and I've gotten slivers from other craft kits using that same type of wood. Just something to consider.
