Doug, since you have a CNC and if you ever use carpet again, cut a groove half-way into the wood about 1" offset around the perimeter of the last layer (each side) of the box to tuck the carpet in/slice off excess. Then one more piece of carpet for the center and tuck into the same groove. Comes out way cleaner and significantly easier..

mark in the fab kitchen would cut some grooves to perfectly cut and tuck the carpet, then done a insert. the 90's called, it wants your seam covered half moon technique back.

I tend to agree with Mark a little on this one. After all of the work with the layers, I thought you would have done some kind of a stain to help show off the layers and contour of the top. I feel like the carpet just hides all of the hard work that went into it.

The fastest and easiest way to find if you have a low spot as not to use a paint stirrer..... Simply take some darker paint preferably black since it's gray and missed it on there then sand it and if you still have black paint then obviously you have a low spot
