Chess computer: No human could ever beat me! Yu-Gi-Oh computer: dump your whole hand to make Knightmare Unicorn to spin itself back.
@joanaguayoplanell49122 жыл бұрын
Well, chess AI has a chronic weakness. It simply doesn't understand the concept of positional advantage and initiative. It brute-force calculates moves only taking into account moves that immediately offer material advantage, put the opponent's valuable pieces in a vulnerable position, or secure an existing advantage. The most glaring flaw in this mindset is that they hardly ever bother to protect their pawn structure, and they don't immediately answer pawns that advance into promotion. The AI also absolutely refuses to draw. Even if they are at a heavy disadvantage, they won't make use the ancient defensive tactic of the fortress, and they won't respect stalemate traps whatsoever.
@skynchickens3002 жыл бұрын
@@joanaguayoplanell4912 you seem knowledgeable. I have some questions, 1st based on your explanation, why was the best human still defeated? And 2nd does leaning into the things ai lack raises the chance of beating them?
@Alb4102 жыл бұрын
@@joanaguayoplanell4912 It may not understand those concepts, but if it can calculate all the possible games possible in advance, thats irrelevant.
@joanaguayoplanell49122 жыл бұрын
@@skynchickens300 1st, because playing against AI and playing against a real player are completely different experiences, and that goes for every game, it's difficult to adjust your mindset, and the current chess AI is good enough that humans rarely survive long enough with an equal board that positional advantage starts mattering. 2nd yes, it does. The most important thing to know is that you need to play more agressively than you would against a human opponent, and simplify the board as much as possible, all without making a single mistake.
@BramLastname2 жыл бұрын
@@Alb410 It can't do that, It can only calculate a finite number of boards. So instead most algorithms work similar to the Yu-Gi-Oh ones, Except the chess AI is prohibited from making a -2 play, Because the game rules classify moves that directly minus yourself (aka taking your own pieces) as illegal moves. The Yu-Gi-Oh AI doesn't understand the cards it's playing, The chess AI doesn't work without understanding how to use every piece indiviually And, unlike the Yu-Gi-Oh AI, knows what pieces are most valuable in most situations.

There's good bots built into EdoPro, but they need a specific AI set up for each deck. It can consistently pull off Orcust and Salad combos using decks from TOSS format. If it's playing a meta deck, it's going to require you to play well. The only mistakes I've been able to exploit is using interaction to remove targets forcing them to pop their own cards, or know that they will use handtraps on the first card they get.
@michael_betts2 жыл бұрын
@@hazzardalsohazzard2624 that's more of an expert system than a true AI. A deck-specific AI can have every card in the deck pre-programmed with how and when to use the 14-40 cards in it relatively easily. Interacting with unknown opponents cards is where a simple expert system breaks down (using all it's interaction immediately, etc.) Trying to apply that style of extremely simple AI without programming every card (or possible grouping of cards) is what causes the ridiculousness in this video. Using something much more complicated like a traditional chess engine, or building and training a machine learning system for Yu-Gi-Oh would be a much more complex task.
